The Prince Nymph is one of the classic patterns that is still one of the staples in the fly tying and fishing world today. It can represent a variety of food sources from stoneflies to mayflies or even a caddis in certain circumstances. Either way, it is a pattern that should be in just about every fly box.
Material List:
Hook: Standard Nymph Hook #8-18
Tail: Brown Goose Biots
Body: Peacock Herl
Rib: Gold Wire (Brassie)
Legs: Brown Hen Saddle
Overwings: White Goose Biots
Bead: Gold Brass Bead

I enjoy your presentations. I tie a ton of flies but this pattern is not one I do but watching you put this together has encouraged me to get out those bots in the drawer an get going on it. Good job.

Thanks Loren, ya those biots can be a bit of a pain at first but they sure dress the fly up nicely.

You are very eloquent in the description of what you have to do today! I tie mine on the heavy side and use them for the weight in a two-fly rig. I catch a lot of trout on them. #14 and # 16 are my go-to, I put a green rock worm, hares ear, or PT nymph one or two sizes smaller. I also will use supper glue or UV resin. I drop on the wing buds tie in has made for a more durable fly. The other fly I use in the same manner as the Copper John. It's been hot and humid with lots of heavy rain here the fall season is off to a very slow start. I will be going Up to VT, NH and Upstate NY to fish the little streams, and Creeks- Fall Brook Trout is my favorite.

Haha, subtlety is my specialty George...I like the idea of some UV on the tie in point. I use to love fishing the small brookie streams in PA. Hope your fall season is a good one!
