Fly Tying: Brooks' Stone 

This Charles Brooks pattern has long been one of my favorite overall flies. It is a simple tie, but its simplicity should not discount its fish catching potential. It's a perfect representation of just about any stonefly nymph and while many modern patterns offer a more accurate representation, not many will out perform it.
Material List:
Hook: Umpqua U203 (or equivalent) #2-12
Tail: Brown or Black Goose Biots
Body: Brown or Black Squirrel Blend Dubbing
Rib: Small Copper Wire
Thorax: Brown or Black Squirrel Blend Dubbing (Loop)
Hackle: Brown/Grizzly Rooster
