The Stimulator is a pattern that has been around for years. It is also a very versatile pattern capable of imitating a stonefly or a caddis (if tied in a smaller version) while also being able to be used as the name implies as an attractor pattern. On top of being able to be used in a wide range of settings, it also will float just about any nymph making it a great "hopper dropper" option. Either way, if you're searching unfamiliar water, this is a great option to, if nothing else, locate fish while drifting your favorite nymph patterns.
Material List:

Tail: Stimulator Deer Body Hair
Body: Sulphur Super Fine Dubbing
Rib: Small Copper Wire
Hackle: Barred Ginger
Overwing: Stimulator Deer Body Hair
Thorax: Sulphur Superfine Dubbing
Hackle: Barred Ginger

Next to the Adams Dry fly (traditional), The Stimulator is my second favorite fly. I was first introduced to the fly while I was transitioning to helicopters back in 1982-83 by Randall Kaufmann himself. His fly shop was a real candy store back in the day. I live in CT, I am retired now. my favorite color combo is a yellow body and Olive thorax, Grizzly hackle, I think my local brook and brown trout take it for a hopper or a yellow sally. All I know is that it works well as a searching pattern. # 14 is the size I use the most on my home waters. It's a good one to have in your box.

This is a good one for sure George. I bet that shop was a sight to see! Do you find the #14 a good size to run a dropper off of as well?

Good. What kind of fish can you catch with this?

Thanks Enrique, this pattern will catch just about anything honestly. From trout to bass and bream, even panfish if you scale it down a bit. It's an all around great attraction pattern.
