Excellent review mate. Im looking at getting this one over the others ive seen for my £120 budget. Was looking at the jx bench too. One pro having the bench high is those dumbell rows. Also can you stop the wobble having on a flat floor (not carpet)?
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 3 года назад
Yeah it doesn't wobble so much, but if you are doing something like hip thrusts I recommend putting it up against a wall so it doesn't slide/fall over.

I bought this bench for about $140 on Amazon. Very happy with it so far. Was worried about it not being big enough for someone 6ft tall but that hasn't been an issue for me. If you twist my arm and I had to complain about anything I'd say it sits just a little high off the ground. Maybe an inch lower would be better.

The video we've all been waiting for! Thanks so much for this. Seems like a good basic bench despite the cons. And honestly, most people are getting this for a little pump and portability. If you're looking to add this as part of an actual home gym, you probably don't care for portability and should consider something else.

Yes, if you have a full garage gym, i'd go with the FitnessReality Bench as it supports more weight for benching with a bar. My small closet needs a smaller form factor though :)

You can press from the floor as well. If you need angled exercises it definitely helps, but you can also find ways around it which I'm trying to do as well for my programming to help reduce cost overall. Good supplemental equipment for dumbbells though.

It depends. Of you want one that holds a bit more weight and is lower to the ground, the fitness reality bench is better. If you want a bench that stores easier and is more maneuverable but is higher off the ground, the Flybird is the way to go. Personally I am sticking with Flybird bit I'll have a video of what I a keeping after 2020 coming up soon :)

Great video! so I'm 5'6 and 150 pounds and am deciding the firebirds. One is 16 inch seat off ground and the other is 21 inch off ground. Now my logic tells me I'm short so the 16 inch seat is fine....but Im a big fan of the bent over incline rows work out that you do at 2:06 in the video. Would you say the 16 inch seat would be too close to the ground for that specific work out? my dumb bells would touch the ground at that point when im hunched over right?
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 3 года назад
Hmm I think it would depend on your arm length. I incline my bench slightly to help keep them from touching but without actually testing it would be hard to know.

Nice. When folded, does it stand upright on its own or does it have to lean on something like the wall?
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 3 года назад
It can stand upright on its own. However I do separate the feet slightly because if they are all the way together it can potentially fall over. You don't need to separate them much, bust enough so that it has a little more stability overall.
@bossm3n
@bossm3n 3 года назад
so this one's a little higher off the ground? I wanna do step ups on it. You think it'll be a bit to high for that? I'm also around 6-6"1 feet tall. Does this support my height? In the description it mentions it covers u pto 6"2 but just wanna make sure from you
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 3 года назад
You are going to be at the top of the range for height. I wouldn't do step ups on it as it isnt stable enough for that, and also a bit tall. I would only use it if you are secure laying on it, or have it up against a wall. I hope that helps.

Hey do u recommend this over the one with the waist pad? (There's 3 versions on amazon, one came out in June 2020)
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 3 года назад
I took a look, that waist pad isn't going to change anything (seems pretty gimmicky to me) and it has the one thing I hate, the seat angle selector. That one was on the other Flybird and is terrible! The pin selector is far better on this brand. It also only holds 500 lbs where this one says it can hold 620 lbs. I'd personally go with this one over the other, but my main issue with this one is the seat height is 21" which is just slightly high for me at 5'11"
@tiblack5
@tiblack5 3 года назад
@@GamerBody Are you talking about the specific angles to which it pauses at (the 7 degree difference or so) that makes this one better? Or is it specifically the fact that this one uses pin selector compared to the drop down stopper? Thanks!
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 3 года назад
The pin selector. Made a huge difference when I was comparing the smaller Flybird bench not long ago. The pin selector is fast and feels more secure when I was testing. I returned the other one very quickly.

@sairam71
@sairam71 Год назад
I find the location of the leg holders puts a lot of strain in lower back when hooking my feet in and lowering to the decline sit up starting position. Is there another way I should be doing this. Lot of decline benches have feet holds at the top and I think that allows for your back to not hyper extend when getting into position.
@GamerBody

I personally don't decline the bench or use the leg holders. I just keep my feet flat on the ground and do flat or incline exercises. That is just me, but not sure if anyone else has more experience with other decline exercises who can share.

Someone ended up answering that it’s 21 inches “floor to pad”, so I’m thinking it’s the same..I suspect it might be the same exact model as yours despite it saying ‘2021 version’. I ended up ordering it (used your link, hopefully it worked) and it arrives Monday so will let you know how it is and if I notice any differences. I was super torn between this and the Fitness Reality 2000 (don’t think you’ve tested that model yet) but ended up picking this because it folds better, even though it’s not as sturdy, and likely a little too tall. Free returns so if I hate it I’ll just swap for the 2000. Home Gym Reviews did a comparison (title is ‘Best bench under $200’) of the 2000 and Flybird and he prefers the 2000 overall.

@@GamerBody so uhh I just checked and these dumbbells don’t ship out of the United States, what other adjustable dumbbell do you recommend
@GamerBody

The only others I've use are powerblocks and Yes4All. I'd go Yes4All only because I use them for bodyweight training in a backpack. The powerblocks are great otherwise. I can't say anything for other brands I have not tried.

Can you use your bed as a workout bench?
@GamerBody
@GamerBody Год назад
You can, but I wouldn't as you might sink into an unfavorable position. I would workout on the floor or bench.

For me I found it too narrow for barbell bench press.
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 2 года назад
Yeah that may be the case. I've only done it with dumbbells which works well.

Mine makes noises when I use it :/
@GamerBody

That's weird. Are you doing something where you are moving on it? Or does it make noises for only some exercises and not others?

@@GamerBody the seat where you put a pin near the foam goes up and down and makes clanking noises when I do situps

Ah yeah I could see that. Mines not too bad but I guess it depends how much it gets on your nerves.

Thanks for your thoughts! Works well for my setup now, but as I just moved I wonder how it will be on the new rug in my office.

I have this bench it’s very wobbly and there are much better on the market

Yeah of the benches I have tested this one has the greatest potential to fall over.

My bench collapsed on me when I was flat benching 95lb dumbells. I had it for a little over a month. It's supposed to hold 650+Lbs but it doesn't.

@@GamerBody Yep, the leg bent where I low body goes and the bent collapsed with 95lb dumbells in my hand.
