I have been only ever flying FPV Quad in Velocidrone for about 30-40+ hours. Finally took the leap to try out the real thing. Here's a documentation of my first real FPV quad flight as well as the first maiden flight of the custom built Five33 Switchback HD SFG arms with the Caddx Vista Nebula Pro.
I wanted people to know what are some of the challenges, things I missed out, nerves or anxiety, and the overall experience I faced from transitioning from Sim Only Flying to the real deal.
It turned out to be very exciting, let me know about your first flights, how you did and what you have learned down in the comments section. Cheers!

@@twotoneimages9387 thanks bro, yeah I’m totally getting that as I crash every 20 seconds in the sim! I’m only 1 hour into it but will definitely follow your lead and do at least 30-40 hours practise in the sim before the maiden flight

@@theinfinate I'm up to 90 slowly tapering off. I still crash a whole bunch. Look at pros race/fly on RU-vid, slow it down, watch when the pre turn, how they set up before a turn, how they follow through and set up for the next turn. Be smooth and gradually get faster. 👍🏼

@@twotoneimages9387 yeah that was my thinking too to watch the pros on RU-vid , now I understood how bloody good they are ey

I didn't know strapping the battery under it was a thing.. I kinda feel like this is asking for a lipo fire the day you will land on a small rock a pierce the lipo wrapping 😕
@twotoneimages9387
@twotoneimages9387 10 месяцев назад
It's only for specific quads, usually battery and internals balance each other out so the CG is closest to the props CG plane. For race/cinelifters, that's how it is as you have lightweight internals/camera package on top, so you need to balance out with heavier lipo under. This will ultimately give you the gives response and control. If it's top heavy like most freestyle quads, the roll and pitch axis' are a little more twitchy.

Plus... The batteries can last a bunch. Even after slamming to concrete. Racers always do that. But I have moved away from race, I crash less often, if not any now as a cinelifter pilot.

Hey man just a reminder it’s probably not a good idea to fly near people like that especially when you are learning these things aren’t toys and can really do heavy damage and cause severe injury if safe op is neglected

Definitely good advice for another beginner starting out with fpv. Safety has to be number one. Good thing I had 30-60 hrs of sim racing before I even dared touch a real drone, and I highly recommend anyone starting out to do that. Some people out there think they can fly it like a dji drone and wreck havoc is just beyond me.

I am deciding to start getting into FPV drone and it is awesome to encounter this video. Was wondering how you gradually upgraded your setup. This hobby seems really expensive. Deciding to start off by getting a controller (Tango 2 or DJI Controller 2) and play it on sims.

deffinitly the tango 2 cuz elrs is complicated but crossfire is super easy and has no issues

@@whoopsiefpv2392 As a noob I got elrs, it is not that complicated if you follow the guide but there are some hurdles when you first update the elrs. Definetly happy with it's performance.

Did you copy your rates from the simulator onto the real drone? I’m not sure if I should just copy them over for my first drone.
@twotoneimages9387
@twotoneimages9387 Год назад
Yup, into betaflight profile rates. You'll get a pretty good starting point. Once you get the hang of it, you experiment/use preset PIDs for the real drone. Then copy it back to sim to practice more off field.
