Quite the nicest aeromodelling video that I have ever seen. Such elegant shapes and fabulously well-filmed. I have an observation John. When I started aeromodelling in the 1950s, I was told always to band wings on a model fore and aft rather than crossed over so that in the event of a firm arrival the bands would pop off and damage would be minimised. With the bands crossed as on the Sapphire, a prang would result in the wing twisting and possibly sustaining LE and TE damage. Just an observation. As someone else has observed, your vids are the perfect de-stress.
45 degrees off axis is like a hard uphill climb one way followed by a rocketship run the other. The planes flew well and you got them back in one piece, still a good day! We tend to have wild winds, usually in the wrong direction over our winter season and a short part of the summer. The rest are usable sea breezes. It seems like we are wanting for ever to get a chance to go sloping. Thanks again for show casing your skills
Allen Moore on this slope, the wind can be 45 degrees off to the right and it still produces loads of lift. When it’s off to the left, even just a tiny bit, the wind scoots round the end of the slope and lift drops right off. My Brother was down for a week and the wind was always off to the left! The bit when we were flying the the Sinbad and Dragonfly, we were really short on time so ran up the slope, had 10 mins fly then ran home again.
Great video and incredible flying! I love balsa gliders. You should attach a GoPro on one of your planes, that would be some awesome footage! Great to see your brother, it was very intertaining watching you guys get so close, yet no midairs.
I you can include the wind speed, will be helpful a lot, by checking the waves (no crest) ,I know that it is less than 15MPH for sure but do not know exactly. thank you..
Hi John, Can you tell me whereabouts your videos are taken? They look like crazy beautiful sites. I live in Toowoomba but I've gotta fly these places before I die!
@@SlopeRCGliders Thank's for replying! Do you switch your channels to be able to controll both elevator and rudder with one stick? And if so, what stick?
Yes, I plug the rudder into the aileron channel, so I just use the right stick. It seems easy any intuitive to swap to an aileron model with the rudder back on the left stick.
John Woodfield RC Gliders thanks! You inspired me to try sloping. I have built models since 10 years but never tried flying them with rc. Just free flight until they were irreparable.
That flat slide at 2:48 was sick ! Excellent vid , full watch , thumbs up and comment as usual ! Check out RC GLIDER GUIDERS ON FB and upload as often as possible. Will-
