To me personally, this is about sin that hurts to let go of. You can get so attached to something that's so awful for you but you love that thing anyway because it brings you pleasure or relieves pain or gets your mind on something other than what is right, whether the sin be drugs, sexual immorality, or the love of money (or all, or none, or something entirely different and in-between). This song gives me chills because I feel like it is EXACTLY what I needed to hear, when I needed to hear it. I still struggle with lots of things because I have been through a lot in my short 18 years on this earth, but God will help me cut the cord. He's my best friend, my Everything; my Redeemer, my Love, my Father. I am so proud that I have Him in my life.
Beautifully said dead poets! I always thought that too. Oh how I miss lacy and these old fly leaf songs that we're truly about phrasing loving and finding Christ. But more importantly I'm so happy to have Jesus Christ in my life, his my beloved, my best friend and I've been a completely different(better) happier person since making sure to keep my connection real & personal with Christ. My prayers are answers, in the most cool, awe inspiring ways! I handle stress better and the good LORD knows we will need to keep him ever close, war is here! Sorry not trying to dampen any ones spirit. But the big jab is evil but pray n ask for proof to the Almighty don't just take my word, even though most people have it and are lining up to get the mark of the beast, my whole family did expect me and just horrible things have happened to them. I started to read the Bible from start to finish( no way finished yet lol) but I never even tried before. We all are children of God, Jews and Gentiles, we need to come together and sharpen our swords ⚔️ (the word) ask Father God to adorn you with his full battle armor. And I pray for all! And the mighty name of Jesus I pray for my brothers and sisters that know Christ to cling to him and I pray for divine protection and I pray that if you're lost and you don't know that you have an urging in you and you just reach out to him and repent! this song still slaps so hard. the sheer rage in her voice, almost like a scream and growl, it’s an intense feeling I love falling into. and you can’t ever go wrong with dark religious themes.
this song is amazing, this band regardless of religion could be taken secular, I'm so sick, treasure, chasm, this close, bury your heart, breaks your knees(could be about depression) etc...its all about perception
+Justin Sparks I'm sorry but the only song that's undeniably about Jesus is Christmas song and in the dark, about like 90 percent of their songs can be both ways. circle is obviously about Jesus but It could be a love song.
What i love about the lyrics to a lot of her songs is that they're like parables from the bible. The words are there, you understand mostly,but the lesson from it is of your own.
What I love about flyleaf is the poetry of their lyrics, it can speak to so many people in different, encouraging ways. Always pointing people to Jesus. And some people don't even know it. I love it.
I think this song is about discovering/serving money, sex etc and knowing it is wrong but submitting yourself to it anyway. And then God speaks to you as only he can and you realize the truth and become absolutely ashamed of yourself...
That reminds me of something said in "Life in 6 Words" by Propaganda. "Defending God is like defending a lion. It doesn't need any help, just unlock the cage." Something similar to that. If you haven't watched it, you should, it's an amazing video.
The way I think of it is that this song is about an abusive relationship and man beats his gf/wife but everyone else doesn't know this because he has told them about a 'fairytale' relationship where everything was perfect. He feels guilty but he doesn't know how to stop until he comes to God. He wants to cut off his own hand that hits her because he feels so guilty. Then he finally does and now it is the perfect relationship that he talks about.
it hurts in the beginning but they just get used to it and in the end they dont feel anymore pain. its like working out, or running a marathon. they get used to it after practicing, so no theres no "technique" to scream like that without it to hurt in the beginning :)

Actually. This song is about money. It's explained in the cd. "She" is money. On the cd it says "people fall madly in love with money and rob their minds to serve her".
I can understand people not really understanding the song, and I remembered a similar context and it's Matthew 5:29 and 30. Look it up and it will make more sense. I would explain, but I hate having to type it out on my kindle.

This is the kind of attitude that turns people to atheism in the first place. Do you think people want to be part of a religion that treats everyone that treats people with such hatred and cruelty? Christianity is about LOVING your neighbor. Showing the same kindness that Jesus showed us. I'm sorry skullcrusher016, I assure you that this is NOT the kind of behavior we as Christians support. @lalaleslie9 i agree w/ sunaycorrea but also w/ TheIcabod except that not just sex but the kind with no feeling, just doing it to do it, no love or anything, and throwing away the person when youre down with them and then for some sick reason, thank God for being able to do it.
I don't believe in God or anything religious, but these songs are beautiful and I can appreciate the meaning behind them. All this arguing over this is stupid.

@JacobInvading The song is about sinning and feeling good about it. AT the end finding that truth is in Christ. Then goes and asks for forgivesness from God, family, and everybody.

@courtney015cc thank you for understanding and i wont and i am happy again my love the one i lost we got things settled but i am so sorry for you many of my friends dads have either killed themselves or they r in jail. i hope you get better soon yea i was just in a bad sitiation (still didnt spell it right) i know i am not the only one losing people just he was something i got right and now he understands that 2 :) music is my only way to escape thank you for understanding :)
your sinning because you did (that)and the consequence is that you "end up dead" meaning that if you'd die that day , you don't just die physically but spiritually too , eternal suffering in hell...But if you let the love of Christ come into your life you'll begin to see that worldly things like that aren't right to do..its just not clean , or good for you..that act is sacred to be when your Married...Hope it kind of gave you an idea to the meaning of the song..
@BluexMidnight its fine just don't do it again cause is annoying..and i'm sorry about your loss. just remember you're not the only one losing people or going through hard things. my dad killed himself and because of that i have developed a conversion disorder and have sudo seizures everyday at school and i'm no complaining. life i hard at times, but theres always something to look foward to even though it may not seem like it. thats why we listen to music, it cures everything..
Getting the meaning is not the point. It's enjoying the poetry itself, because most poets are trying to describe what cannot be described, only experienced.

i'm sorry but the idea that you serve money is wrong but god's people have a large history for using money. for we play with the hand we've been dealt in society and in order to function as gods people anymore we have to pay so we may go to his services... although we do have the choice to pass the collection plate the churches couldnt function and gather the flock but by serving this governments policies to pay for the plot of land they use.
Money is essential to our lives, so let's use it wisely. However which one do we love- is it Money or God? We can't have two masters. Because if we do, it's either we will love money and hate God or we will love God and hate money. Not because money is evil but because 'the Love of Money" is the root of all evil. The bible didn't say it's satan or the devil or yourself is the cause of all evil...but it is --"the love of money"-- therefore we choose which one we serve.
