RCINFORMER credit where it’s due-I like how you really bring attention to those critical little things like how the wings/tail/gear is held on-most reviewers seem to focus more on fit/finish as opposed to those important details such as exactly what fasteners are used. I’m really impressed with how FMS have broken the trend and moved to moulded in inserts and machine screws-it shows they have really thought about repeat assembly/disassembly. Was really impressed with the Beaver when I bought it a couple of years back (on the back of seeing your review), and as much as it pained me financially to buy “la patrona” (expensive foamie), I have to give you credit for another very honest review because it really is something special when you get it in your hands. If you follow Xjet on RU-vid I might have it out down at Tokoroa this summer (I’m yet to build it). Keep up the great work👍

How do you like it compared to the timber? The 3 different landing gears is a giveaway but still undecided if I want the timber or kingfisher

@@willswings This one is easy to fly however the bixler is a hand launch & belly land airplane. Have you done takeoffs & landings?

That’s a great question and to be 100% honest you have to factor a number of things in-for example it’s no good being both the new pilot and only guy at the field with Futaba if everybody else is flying Spektrum, purely because if you need any help setting up they are not likely to be able to help you very easily and will probably end up guessing just the same as yourself so you need to think about the people you fly with and what they are using just as much as you need to think about your expectations from the radio set you are buying-is it just something that you want for a short term period that doesn’t cost much just while you get used to the hobby or figure out if you even want to continue in the hobby or have you decided that you want to get something that’s going to last you for a few years before you need to think about upgrading. Ideally you want something that has at least six channels that said where is all of the features being added by manufacturers these days it’s very handy to have a minimum of eight channels on your receiver-so it’s really one of those things that you have to think about everything not just the one aircraft you are using, unless of course you only intend on using that radio for that aircraft in which case I would recommend purchasing an RTF as they come with their own tx as you may know. If you want something that’s going to last you for a period of time with most aircraft you can look at maybe the NX8 or similar radios from other manufacturers depending on what you choose to go with. It would be very easy to give you an exact transmitter/receiver combo but my recommendation may not factor in your particular circumstances so you do need to look at the big picture. Go for something with a minimum of eight channels and something that you won’t have too much trouble getting help with at the flying field if you fly with friends, alternatively you could just go with the Spektrum NX series and provided the model as one of theirs you can download model profiles.
