FNX-45 Tactical is Awesome But...

This video on the ‪@FNAmericaLLC‬ FNX-45 was uploaded this morning. A few viewers commented on an editing mistake which I missed. Thus, I took the video down, fixed the mistake and now here it is again. My apologies for that. Let's see if RU-vid kills the promotion of this video because of the deletion and second upload...
The ‪@FNAmericaLLC‬ FNX-45 is an awesome 45 ACP handgun chambered in 45 Auto. 15 +1 rounds of .45 Auto, threaded barrel and Trijicon suppressor height night sights - all from the factory - make this a truly duty handgun which is ready for anything. We had a few hiccups and I think that I know why. I'll make a follow-up video on that. What do you think of the FNX-45 Tactical? Thank you for stopping by and God Bless.

Your optic is overhanging the ejection port. I would start with that as the problem. Don’t think you can expect any pistol to be reliable if there is something overhanging the ejection port.

The FNX-45T was ahead of its time, and is more comparable to the HK USP 45 Tactical, the HK45 Tactical, and the HK Mark 23 SOCOM. It was FN's entry to the Joint Combat Handgun Weapon System program that saw the requirement for a gun that provided the Mk23's reliability and durability in a smaller profile platform. I'd say the FNX-45T more than lived up to the requirements along with features that gave it advantages over the USP/Mk23: the standardized pic rail, tritium night sights, and optic-ready slide from factory. The FNX-45T is a superb gun that addresses whatever perceived disadvantages a Mk23 might have in 'practical everyday use'. I hope you acquire one of these to keep alongside the HK45 and Mk23. I suggest a different optic (Trijicon RMR06 or Aimpoint ACRO), because the Trijicon SRO's long front profile appears to hinder the ejection pattern.

Great video. Just got my FNX 45T today, and put some rounds through it. Federal 210 grain Hydroshock JHP defensive ammo ran flawlessly. However, when I ran some "cheap" Browning 185 grain range ammo through it, the same exact same thing began happening to me. Kept getting stove pipe FTE's. I don't have a red dot on it yet, so that has absolutely nothing to with it...on mine at least. I'm thinking that it doesn't like the lighter ammo, and may need to get the recoil spring worn in a bit.

The problem was the red dot was overhanging the ejection port. .45 ACP ammo with a COL of 1.250" - 1.260" and a taper crimp of 0.469" with run in nearly all .45 ACP very very well and the best. You don't need barrel burner loads for good reliable function. The gold standard target load for 60+ years has 4.8 grains of Alliant Bullseye, those measurements while using a H&G #68 200 grain LSWC. That's not a hot load or anything that is going to cause damage and works in EVERY single .45 ACP made. Also Bill Wilson of Wilson Combat's all time favorite practice/target/match load as well.

I will always prefer my USP 45 tactical over the pretender! But in all seriousness, I do actually prefer my HK over the FNX. The FNX always felt just "cheaper" to me in sense of the polymer, the feel of it in my hand, and a need to have more capacity than the USP when I believe capacity isnt everything. Call me an HK USP apologist, but I would take my USP into a combat zone (and would if the military let me) but I would not trust an FNX45 tactical as much. Would it work? Probably, but there is something to be said about personal comfort and trust in your weapon systems. The USP also features a superior recoil system.

When mine was new it was anemic when ejecting a round. I put about 150 rounds the first outing with mixed reliability. I went home and just racked the slide while watching a movie. I left it racked open I the safe for 2 weeks. Went back to the range and 200 no issue. Been fine sense.

It’s easy when you put an oversized optic on that protrudes over top of the magazine well. But any moron could have seen this issue, if they were ever qualified in firearms. A 5 year old could see that the spent shell casing would get caught being ricocheted off the optic back into the gun.

Federal Cartridge had a HK USP45 with well over 297,000+ documented rounds through it. The only thing replaced are a few springs here and there. Nothing else broke or wore out and they sold it to a HK armorer with documentation on it's round count used as a testing platform in the R&D department. Moreover what you are getting at here is it's very hard to beat a GLOCK G-21 or HK USP45 when it comes to modern high capacity .45s. For standard capacity 1911s and Sig Sauer P-220s hold that title effortlessly. I own many many examples of each and have for decades. I can vouch for them but this FN is something out of my experience. I shot one of it's predecessors the FNP-45 and was not very impressed. Likewise for a Springfield Armory XDm 45 and S&W M&P 45.

If a $600 glock can be ran over and drug through literal mud and still work then there’s no reason to always spend 3k on a gun. I’ve never heard of anyone every having problems with a FN and they are usually universally praised. He’s stated in the comments his SRO was causing the hang up and that was very clear to see even after the first jam. Nothing to do with the gun.

why would you spend $1200 on a handgun, then shoot the cheapest *hit ammo in it, what do you expect ? would you run 85 octane in a shelby ?

Blazer is garbage ammo.
@JohnDoeEagle1
@JohnDoeEagle1 4 месяца назад
Blazer shoots fine in everything I have ever used it in and is generally very accurate ammo.

Besides the optic being not a being not mounted wrong. You might want to try a second type of GOOD ammunition before you think you’re limp wristing it. Anyone testing it on a video on RU-vid should try different ammunition and let the viewer see what issues is instead. Instead of saying what do you think!!! Maybe you should stop filming until you know how to make a video of testing a firearm!!!
