Everything in armor product testing is gradients. Just like everything in damaging the human body is also gradients. Flesh wound is not a bruise. Bruise is not a fracture. Mild bruise is not severe bruise. Fracture may, or may not include flesh wound. Abrasion is not fracture. Every fracture is not necessarily compound. So....... what exactly is the product buyer looking to mitigate? Has everything to do with anticipated activity.

This is true. It certainly wouldn't be good to think of gear in terms of a "cure-all" as if you were to wear gear it's a magic barrier. More better to think of it as injury mitigation. More gear worn + types of armor airbags, etc = gradients of protection.

@@Burroughspoint If we really wanted to eliminate all danger from life, we'd never leave the house, nor get out of bed. Interesting how as a society, we've totally normalized--to the point of taking no thought--to activities that are extremely dangerous potentially, and at the same time recoil at the thought of riding a inherently unstable 2-wheeled vehicle over land at speed, with little or no bodily abrasion or impact protection becomes the highly debated issue at hand. Or how about putting criminal dolts into the most powerful seats of power over entire nations, and then speak to total strangers at a gas station about how you know someone who got hurt on a motorcycle? hahaha Or buying artificial intelligence devices, voluntarily, to place them in the center of our homes to listen to all of our daily activities... you know, for convenience. Not dangerous at all. If I didn't laugh, I'd probably cry.
