Thank you for this! Ive tried to read up on Toivo Pylväläinen ever since you mentioned him in one of your pine bark videos. Couldn't find much stuff. On the subject of foiling lures, using either aluminium tape or copper tape means you can just stick them to the lure, no need to glue them yourself.
Not only was this another fantastic video showcasing your incredible skills as a lure maker. But the added history behind the lure was a great touch. Even your through wire was a work of art. Thanks for sharing.
This is very cool im a lure craftsman my self and have 2 very old rapalas this was a cool history lesson... Only right that it came from you... Thank you... Love your channel love your lures... All rhe way from South Africa
Outstanding as usual-my favorite type of video- lure making homage with historical context of pioneering artists that are not well known. Beautiful job! What did he use for epoxy back then?
From what i’ve heard they used to melt film negative type thats no longer being produced in acetone and probably just dip the lures into that concoction. But to be honest i dont know for sure.
I really enjoyed this Finnish history lesson. I do wonder what happened to the cafeteria lady and her baby. The first hook placement is fascinating. Have we all been doing it "wrong" for years? I also began researching the Cork Tree which happens to be a Mediterranean Oak. This means there had to be a good deal of trade between the Iberian countries and Sweden in order to make life jackets.
For lake trout You probably mean Järvitaimen which is a direct translation but.. Lake trout in Finnish harmaanieriä Järvitaimen in English Brown trout but in any case thats really awesome Lure mix with some old some new/some Toivo Pylväläinen some Solarbait...
On Engeneered Angler Lures RU-vid channel he does something interesting to cut lip slots. He glues two hacksaw blades together, it cuts close to the width of the material he uses with minimal sanding to get a tight fit.
@@SolarfallBaits I should have remembered that, ADHD brains are fun 😁. I really loved learning about the history in video, I don't think I could have learned this by diving into research on my own.
It's the trusted Black and silver Rapala that's cought more walleye than can be counted, Glad you told people the correct pronunciation, what an interesting story but what did Toivo use for epoxy?
Thank you for this wonderful video filled with the history of fishing lures! So the founder of rapala was actually just a guy that happened to on the right place at the right time and met Toivo Pylväläinen? I actually did a video where i explain and use an eraser to create texture in foil, but it never reached the big audience 😊 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0QciDTFx6QQ.html
Im not sure if people know this but Lauri’s brother was the more keen and talented lure maker than Lauri but he died during either winter war or continuation war i for get which and lauri and his sons took over the family business. I will have to check out your video, i dont think i ever saw that one.
