Awesome build Mikko! Thanks for sharing your work as usual. Came out amazing brother! I'm glad to hear that you are keeping busy. I look forward to seeing your next project bud.
The lipless crankbait is a fairly simple lure to make. It is well known that they are weighted heavy to be a fast sinker and the ballast is low and towards the head so it will shimmy nose-down. You've taken a common lure and elevated it to an uncommon level of intricate detail and beauty. I like the multiple tow-points and from what I could make from the bathtub test, I favor the point farthest back. Although I cannot afford the lures you market, I hope you completely sell out so that you'll be motivated to continue making these fine lures and videos. Great job Mikko!
Your carving skills never cease to amaze me. Mine never look that good, but then if I'd invest in something better than free Pine scraps, I might have a little better results. It sure is difficult to show the true action in such a small space, however, they probably won't let you test them at the Hotel's indoor pool! LOL I made a couple replica Daily Double lures that had cups like yours. They seemed to work pretty well. Probably my favorite lipless crankbait is a Pico Perch, also called a Bayou Boogie. I've made a few of them and they have a lot of vibration. Another great lure build! Thanks Mikko
I love your channel and just this week my kids were admirinf one of your lures that we've got in a shadow box. I cant bring myself to fish it and lose it.
This was so cool! This color scheme would 100% fool the bass in trout lakes. Thanks for showing the whole process. What spray gun would you recommend for novice painter? Never sprayed anything this small but I want to!
you can never go wrong with iwata but i might be little bit bias. that being said there is a lot of great options out there from other legacy companies like harden& steenbech or badger.
Awsome lure! As always 🔥 You are the biggest inspiration i my own lure making. I aspire to get to your level of patience and attention to detail one day 😂😅 The only complaint I have is that you should play more Beherit as background music 🤘
Hienoa Mikko, tuo hopealuomu redside dace toimisi varmasti meidän vesissä useammalle kalalajille. Upea video. Oletko tehnyt meritaimen vieheitä tänä syksynä? Huomenna Inkoon saaristoon ja testaamaan omia luomupuikkoja.
People need to get there eyes check 🙄😒. the lure clearly has a wiggle to it. Maybe if you got that bait tank marlin has it'll make some people happy 😂. keep doing you Solar! 🤟🏾
Siisti vaappu. Ootko aatellut suomalaisten vaappujen valmistamista videolla. Porukkaa vois kiinnostaa, jos valmistaisit jotain esim: Jan- tai poppeli-vaapun tyylistä. Omia pohdintoja vain, mutta voisi toimia :D Terveisiä Suomesta!
Do you use water based paint then epoxy clear to finish it off? Would you recommend a paintbrush? I rattlecan paint my lures and then clear. Nice build!
@@SolarfallBaits Thanks for answering, then I will buy a airbrush and test. I have a plan on 3d print stencils so I paint my lures in stages then clear coat. Then they should become reproducible and nicer looking 😂. But the ice needs to disappear first. Over 80 cm of ice still. I have 3d printed 5 designes but doesn't know if any work 😂. Have a nice day! And thanks once again!
Saw the video and thought: "Hmmm, I like what thid guy does and his videos ore a pleasure to watch. But 56 minutes??!? Maybe ill just skip through and check some of thr highlights..." Now it's 56 minutes later and I didn't skip a second. Such captivating stuff, I hope i can focus enough and get my shit together enough to get into lure making again, winter is coming after all and ice fishing is 💩 Hey a question, how much does something like this weigh? You kinda skipped the casting process so im a bit unclear, you said something about micro balloons or something? Is there a way to make the resin heavier, like adding metal powder or something? Great video as always 🤌👌
the weight i settled for my lure is 52g. i've added the ballast weight to the internal wire harness and thats kind of a trade secret that i didn't want to share in this video.
Hallo from Spain. Amazing works. I want to ask you for somethig… Can you show us how you make the precisión sabding tools you use for the details, fins, and scales? Thanks for show us your work.
I make lipless out of balsa. Don’t know why since the buoyancy isn’t really helpful… But guys don’t buy hardwoods the way they do balsa baits. I do make some for myself out of a bitch plywood. You are probably going to knock the finish off the nose no matter what you use since there’s no lip to take any of the impact of hitting objects or just the bottom. Sandstone is brutal on lipless baits. Every wood has to be extra thoroughly sealed because of that and some take sealer better than others. I don’t know if that’s why he chose Maple, but it is a really good choice for lipless lures imo. Lipless require a lot of weight strategically positioned to get a good action no matter what wood really. This cat is a fabulous lure builder. I am sure he knows he could get an even more aggressive wiggle with a couple minor adjustments too.
@@angeldejesus2797 i dont use any salt water hooks on my lures as most of my customers fish in fresh water, other wise i dont see why you could not use them in salt water.
An interesting lure design. I wonder how it would work as a jigging lure? Beautiful finish, as always. I'm disappointed that you chose to omit the pouring of the actual lure. That is the critical step. That leaves me wondering how the hook hanger and line tie is inserted into the mold? Also, if you added any weight to the lure? Maybe you did a through wire harness but the viewer has no way of knowing.
Thanks for checking out the video. The lure might work as a jigging lure if you weigh it differently and weigh it in a way that it sinks, the ones i made floats. The hook eyes and line ties are a thru wire construction.
@SolarBaits Thanks for your reply and information. I guess I am confused as to how the wire harness is placed in the mold prior to closing the mold and pouring the plastic? Do you have to make a channel in the mold in order to fit the wire harness?
@@thelonesomefisherman7425 the wire harness is placed on those hook eye and line tie slots before casting the lure. I didnt want to share that cos its king of a trade secret
looks very beautiful, but the play of the lure isnt really active, it doesnt really do much in any of the three positions, I wouldnt buy it, again thats just my opinion, no negativity here. Did you catch fish with it?
I live in the Netherlands and thinknit would be great for pike, there is a lot of pressured waters here and this would slay, no doubt, it is different and i think it would pull those big ladies in,
You should down size your lure and be around the size of 65 to 95 mm length max, because your not catching sharks with such big lures of course, and with my experience the more smaller the lure the more action and attraction towards river and lake fishes, just my opinion. No hard feelings.
i actually did start with a smaller maybe 9cm lure but decided to make it slightly bigger. these are 14cm. I think thats a pretty normal size for a pike lure in particular. but maybe downsizing to a smaller version in the future might not be a bad idea. thanks for checking out the video ;)
The dude in the first msg, clearly you really don't know anything about fishing because if you watch the professional Bass anglers they always tell you the bigger the lure the bigger the fish you catch. And I always use big glide Baites and I always catch big fish
@@SolarfallBaits Wouldn't you make sure it worked first before you make a mold and all of that? This lure clearly bogs down and has no action. I hope you are selling them just as decorations.
@@SolarfallBaitsCome on guy. Just because you spend a lot of time on something doesn't mean it works. You said you spent over a month working on this. Don't get me wrong, the looks of the lures are incredible but that has nothing to do with the action. And $75 for a lure that has no action and just wants to bog down is ridiculous. Hopefully people will see this before they purchase. You will literally be ripping people off with these lures. Come on guy, I know you are better than this.
