Foo Fighters - The Pretender Guitar Cover (Marshall JVM 410H + ESP Eclipse)

This guitar cover of The Pretender was long overdue! Foo Fighters have been a huge part of my youth, so I had to fire up my Marshall JVM 410H to record some riffs. All guitar tracks have been recorded using the Marshall JVM and my ESP Eclipse E2. For the drums, I've been using EZDrummer 2 and the Rock! EZX. For the bass track, I used my 30 years old Ibanez 5-string bass.

Channel: Clean
Mode: Green
Bass: 6
Mids: 4.5
Treble: 10
Gain: 7
Resonance: 5
Presence: 2
Crunch guitars:
Channel: OD1
Mode: Green
Bass: 6
Mids: 6
Treble: 5
Gain: 2.5
Resonance: 5
Presence: 2
Gainy rock guitars:
Channel: OD1
Mode: Orange
Bass: 6
Mids: 6
Treble: 5
Gain: 2.5
Resonance: 5
Presence: 2
All recorded through a Two Notes Torpedo Captor, using Ownhammer IR's to top it off. Carefully mixed and mastered as well as I can.

Danke man! Hat ja nur ein halbes Jahr gedauert, bis ich beim JVM Settings gefunden habe, mit denen ich zufrieden bin... :p

@@TobiasJust Man, das klingt so warm. Du weißt ja, dass die das auf Tape aufgenommen haben. Tut mir Leid, aber was du hier geschaffen hast, klingt genauso warm, obwohl du das mit Daw gemacht hast. Ich würde mir das sogar im Auto anhören. Also andauernd. Echt, ich hoffe dein Channel geht ab.

Danke man! Ich verstehe selber nicht, warum das so gut geworden ist... :p die Gitarren haben nur einen kleinen eq verpasst bekommen, bei 150 Herz um 2 DB geboostet weil das weng voller Klang und per sidechaining nehme ich die mitten leicht raus, wenn Dave grohl singt. Wenn er aufhört zu singen, gehen die mitten sofort wieder rein. Mehr nicht... 🤘

Great cover! How well you can attenuate the JVM with the Two Notes Torpedo? Can you use it in bedroom level? Which Two Notes are you using? Thanks!

Nice guitar, nice amp, nice cover man ! I notice you use torpedo captor. Is it possible to use attenuator in captor to reduce the volume of 100 watt head so it can be played in the bedroom ?

Ah crap, my internet broke down when I tried answering your comment. :) So now, attempt number two! So the captor has an in-built attenuator, making your amp -20 db quieter. Unfortunately it can't be adjusted, but it's taming your amp a fair bit. You can crank it a lot more, but cranking a 100-watt amp is still way to loud for the bedroom. But you could use it as load box, which I did in the video. You don't have to connect any cab to your amp and you can record the amp sound directly using the captor. You could use this to play through headphones, but you have to apply some decent IR's first.

Hey man nice playing! Just a question, I am getting a JVM410H with a Captor X but no cab! Will this setup work? Will the amp ok with 8ohms Captor X?

Hey there and thank you! Yes it will work, the JVM has connectors for 16, 8 and 4 ohms. 8 ohms should work on almost any amp. By the way, if you connect your jvm to a let's say 4 ohm cabinet, you can place the 8 ohms captor x in between without issues as long as you don't use the load box. So if you use a cab, it will "overwrite" the impedance of the captor. This is great for live playing when you play a gig where some other guitarists brings a cab and you don't know the specs. So you can use that cab and still use the captor to send a nice guitar sound to the FOH. Cheers Tobi
