For some reason your content makes me feel I can do the day at a time struggle thing just a little bit better. You seem to find the good and beauty in it all like the country rides.
A really nice haul!!! When I was growing up, my mother would make salmon patties--she called them croquettes--and as a kid I thought it was great that I could actually eat the bones, since living on the Gulf Coast we ate a lot of fresh caught, whole fish and you had to navigate around all the bones. As a kid, I never knew that bone-free, filleted fish existed --we’d clean what my father caught and she’d bread and fry them whole. 😂 It was back in the day when the only way you saw salmon WAS in a can--grocery stores didn’t have fresh or frozen whole salmon, much less salmon filets in south Louisiana. 😂 She would also make corned beef hash using the canned corned beef and it was one of my favorite meals. And I STILL love canned potatoes, pan fried like she used to fix them, usually with fried shrimp or fish. Simpler meals from simpler times!!! Thanks for the food memories!!! Enjoy your food, and have a happy Thanksgiving!!!
U don't have to have turkey for thanks giving or Xmas......you can have shrimps as a starter ( shrimp cocktail is just 1000 island dressing and shrip mixed together and put over chopped lettuce) .......Pulled pork, squash and use the milk cheese and spaghetti to make Mac and cheese ( just break up the spaghitti into small pieces.......The dried cherries you just add water and a bit of sugar in a pot and warm it all up and you have a cherry cobbler filling.
That's a good haul,I love salmon patties I don't make them very often Salmon is really expensive. I will catch you next time, again have a happy Thanksgiving.
Good afternoon sir, It’s nice that your mom gives you funds to buy your turkey. She sounds like a nice lady. I hope she’s doing well. I miss my mother every day but around the holidays it’s so apparent all the things that she did for us. I received a can of salmon and Ive never eaten it before so your mention of salmon patties sparked my interest. I will have to try to find a recipe. What you received looked wonderful and I can tell you appreciate it no matter what you receive. Your table cloth looks nice! Thank you for sharing your haul! See you again take care.
Great haul Dale. Wishing you a great Thanksgiving. We are going to one of the local churches for Thanksgiving dinner. Kids are busy or live too far away. Much easier than cooking it all. I plan to get a turkey. I like to freeze the meat too. We are camping in the RV this week. The trees are turning and it is lovely. The weather has been great. We have spent most of our time outdoors sitting by the gas fire pit. We are at Beavers Bend Natl park in Oklahoma.
Shrimp is nice with rice. I cooked mine together in the instant pot and I added a little sour cream. I have so many cans of tuna i bought some noodles and cream of mushroom soup. don't want to eat tuna every single day because of mercury. i like turkey sandwiches and cranberry soft too.
I hope that you had a good Thanksgiving. I was alone, as well. For afew years now. I know how it is. I made myself turkey and gravy, vegetables, and rice. I made pumpkin pie and whipped cream too. It was a taste of the holiday. ❤️😃
Wow nice shrimp and pulled pork. You showed the salmon and I said yum salmon patties. haha! That is sad that they don't give a turkey or turkey breast to smaller households. My husbands work gave a voucher to got get a turkey or ham from our meat market. We picked a ham because they're really good hams and the leftovers and bone can be used later. The turkeys are fresh but we eat turkey year round more then a good ham.
Mmmm. Pulled pork on those buns would be awesome. I wonder how it would be to top them with some if that cheddar cheese. Btw shredded cheese freezes nicely. Happy Thanksgiving.
Good haul,i went to the food pantry here in s.w Virginia today it was pretty good, they were very busy also, have a great Thanksgiving,oh imade rainbow trout patties the other day they turned out awesome
I wanna wish you an early happy Thanksgiving I’m not going to have a Thanksgiving I’m gonna be at home by myself doing what I don’t know but I hope you have a great Thanksgiving
Those cherries, they are good in pancakes or muffins. My mom used to make an apple salad that was diced apples, raisins , nuts and mayo. I adapted it to no nuts, apples and dried cranberries and mayo but i betcha those cherries would go good too.
let's nice you have a good fd. Ours is poor on a good day.they finale ly figure d how to eliminate mold . Just throw everything in the freezer even sandwich s
Happy Thanksgiving to you also. I decided not to buy a turkey this year. My daughter and her family are hosting a big meal this year, and yesterday my son brought home two turkey/stuffing/corn meals that his work gave out that we'll have tonight for dinner (he doesn't get home til late at night). So, that will be enough turkey for us for awhile. Instead, I'll make a whole chicken on the weekend after Thanksgiving for leftovers the first few days of the following week. That's a nice gift your mother gives you and your brother for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I miss my mother badly this time of year. She was always the one that made sure we stayed in touch or got together for holidays. That shrimp was an awesome gift from the pantry!
Nice haul, surprised to see the pulled pork, we got same here in Louisiana, I will be using bbcue sauce, onions, and garlic and onion seasoning and slow cooking it another 45 min to an hour to infuse the flavors. Those wheat rolls would make some nice little sliders with your pork if you run out of bread/buns. Your table cloth looks fine, for those who had a word about the other one, you could’ve offered him one if it bothered you enough to speak on it. Happy Thanksgiving Dale.
Nice haul, lots of good things! The shrimp and pulled pork wow on those!!🎉 and they gave you staples too like the veggie oil that stuff is getting expensive at Walmart to buy! And butter and coffee, eggs and milk some great items! Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃
Hi Dale! Lucky you getting shrimp! One thing I have never made is Salmon patties, but plan to. I hope you have a good Thanksgiving. The holidays can be hard after losing a fur baby. My cats are seniors and it will be rough to lose them. Call your Humane Society and ask about available Cat food. They do help here in Wisconsin. Living on a fixed income is not easy. Bye for now!
No my Brother is Married and has his own house . He has done well for himself and his Family. He’s 72 and in good Health. But my Mom still likes to buy us Holiday Meals . Thanks for watching!!
