This is a video of footage showing Kansas City shot for two films (shot on VHS video) made in the summer of 1987 and the summer of 1988. They were two comedies; "The Honey Thief" (1987) and "Peter's Treasure" (1988).
Some of the footage consists of exterior establishing shots of KC for the Opening Credits of "Peter's Treasure", some are moments caught when the actors are about to enter the frame or have just left the frame during a scene shot on location, and some are actual takes where you see the actors or part of a chase scene involving a black Mazda RX-7.
These are clips taken from the raw footage, and not the edited versions of the comedy films. No music has been added - the audio consists of the original sounds recorded.

It’s surreal to me to be a KC resident and watch these. Like I’ve stood there

I was born in Kansas City in 1986 and lived there for the first 34 years of my life. I live in Los Angeles now, and this is so great to see. It will be even more rich as time goes by.

kinda hard for me to watch. Was looking to see if I was seen with my best friend who I would skip school with just to go to the plaza... She has passed... but this brings memories.

Loved the video! Especially the RX-7! I had a black 1983 RX that looked almost exactly like the one in the video at the time.

Holy shit..I live here and it still isn’t that much fun. I can’t imagine what I would’ve done back then. 3 maybe 4 people out at a time walking around yet they have all these huge buildings. The only time it looked busy back then was when ppl went to work or came home from work in traffic😂 what was it like was it safe back then or dangerous and gritty in the city? It’s like they wanted a clean rich and small NYC and just failed💀 sorry KC still love ya and you are my home lolll

I lived there, too. There were tons of things to do. Lots of shopping---the Plaza, Crown Center, Seville Square, Antioch, Bannister Mall. Countless restaurants. There was Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun theme parks. The KC Zoo. There were the Chiefs and Royals games. There were lots of live events--concerts and shows at Kemper Arena and Starlite theater. Great dinner theater at Waldo Astoria and Tiffany's Attic. The always frantic night life of the bars, pubs, and clubs of West Port.
