This footage was shot in December of 1991 for a student experimental film that I made called "XMAS". This is some of the raw footage I filmed on SVHS Video in Oak Park Mall and Independence Center.
I'm actually the main character in this footage (the guy with glasses wearing the blue coat), and the experimental film is about me having to go shopping at the last minute to buy Christmas gifts, and becoming more and more overwhelmed by the experience. You'll see a lot of the footage is hand-held and somewhat shaky, and in the final film it's even more surreal and chaotic. Not seen in here is additional footage shot on Super 8 film of me walking in a picturesque Pennsylvania valley as if it's me trying to find sanity outside.
