Experience the sounds, vibrations and sights of a 16 mile footplate ride from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster with four intermediate stops on 1 June 1996. Numerous captions briefly explain the work the engineer and fireman are performing. Raveningham Hall was hauling about 8 coaches weighing over 300 tons at a top speed of 25 mph. It was a Thomas weekend at the Severn Valley Railway and we see Gordon, Thomas and Duck from the train.

Thank you for another great ride. I'm going to use your video's as a visual reference to detail and paint my bachmann modified Halls cabs.

This is a really excellent video, captures the sounds and motion of a GWR footplate. Anyone who’s ridden or worked on the footplate will appreciate just how difficult it is to film, so well done sir!

This was 6960s last run here in 1996 before it left the seven valley railway And it came back here 23 years later in 2019 when it swapped positions with Bradley manor because of the weight difference And she stayed at the Severn valley it’s former home until 2021 when it’s certificate finally expires

Love GWR engines. They’re so pretty in the GWR Brunswick green with all the brass

Hi David , many thanks for the upload . I've also had the pleasure of a footplate trip on 6960 on the WSR , Minehead to B/L thoroughly enjoyed it . You obviously had a better view of the reverser than I did , thanks for the commentary on the screen and verbally . Isn't Ravening Hall magnificent ?

Not the best footplate footage I've seen. Too much looking at drivers back and scenery
