She should be naked in her final form tho, because as she ascends she belives she loses her human imperfections (its symbolised by her armor, she's covering herself in it cause shes insecure of her human side). Lame they didnt go for it. Or at least some rly light clothes.
@@mlekosojowe7312 this makes so much sense, like if they we gonna go with the whole I ascend I'm more exposed bc you can't do shit to me anyway they should've gone the full way instead of the half assed helmet removal we got
@@danieloctovianus388 That feels more like an excuse to put her in the bodysuit rather than an explanation of why she'd wear the bodysuit. Even if she doesn't need armor, armor is still something that far better represents her, an inhuman and dispassionate gaze from behind white metal, a heart shielded from emotion under as many barriers as she could put in place, and a cruel hand enforcing her idea of order with ruthless death. Inflexible and heavy-handed justice without room for kindness or nuance dolled out by an uncaring demi-god doesn't really match up with a flexible body suit made to look sexy.
@@lanternno8491 kayle: finally. I’m level 16. I’m more than a cannon minion! Morgana: hehe q. Now you can’t move for 10 years. Kayle: AHHHHH HOW ARE YOU SO POWERFUL Morgan: I could do this from level 1? Kayle: ....
Yeah, I miss them too, I thought they were fair. And the whole point is that it's HIS opinion, backed up with analysis and clear knowledge of character design, but still an opinion. I guess some people just can't understand that.
Even if people did disagree with the grades, isn’t that the point? As long as it’s not hateful or bashing, disagreement is natural and healthy for opinion pieces
@@chidzhustle3570 yes, but if you saw the irelia comment section, half of the comments were people being salty about the grade, so now he’s probably using emojis to troll lol.
I think the karma one was the breaking point. He said Karma has a unique design but she is hot so it's a c- resulting into angry comments from the viewers.
I'm glad we can agree that Kayle was cooler before she took the helmet off. I remember thinking Kayle was guy when I first came to league and finding out she was actually female was really cool. More badass fully armored(including helmet) women please.
I feel like the anti-sternum chest plate was based on her voice line "if justice bends, it breaks," so she literally can't bend over and must stand tall, basically never faltering
This is totally wrong and you have no idea what you're talking about. This is in reference to Morgana's view that laws should be flexible and take into account the circumstances of others, whereas Kayle believes that laws and their punishments are absolute. It has nothing to do with her terribly designed outfit.
@@dontgranme 2 years old comment necro, but you have the ordering wrong. OP said the armor was based on the voice line, NOT that the voice was based off the armor. You are correct, but OP may be, too.
One thing that I actually LIKE about her purple skintight body latex is that it kinda binds her back to Morgana's character in a way, since her main color is also purple. It feels like it could play into an aspect (haha) of Kale that, she's still vulnerable and still has ties to her sister and to humanity that she cannot just get rid of. That part of her design makes her feel more vulnerable, partially because it's more exposed and not as armorclad. I feel like this could work very well with her transformation gimmick if it was done in a different way: by default, she'd have the purple bodysuit and also have no helmet, and she'd look pretty human, but as she got more powerful, she'd get the helmet and her suit would be covered up by more layers of armor, rivaling even Garen. So, she'd be becoming less human and more threatening with each transformation.
The problem is that Riot still wants her to read as a squishy champ. Giving her armor that rivals Garen would imply she's tanky & hard to kill. I would say give her armor that rivals Zed would be more appropriate.
Yes! Even in some of their voice lines it shows they care for one another. “If I could only see my sister” when Kayle dies is just one example. I definitely agree with you maybe if not adding a lot more armor, then how’s about adding just a bit and some cloth here and there so she still is covered up more.
I've heard it before, but I actually like the fact that she takes her helmet off, because I see it (and I believe that's what they intented to) as if she had been hiding her emotions behind her helmet, but as she completely "ascends beyond them", she doesn't need the helmet anymore, because all you will see is a cold and merciless face, just "pure justice"
@Fæ Not entirely. Having a godlike voice that screams Divine and a blank expression with eyes as bright as the sun is more then enough as again. Why would a divine being need armor when it would only slow them down?
@@BacktoBack_Daishō I feel like a human covering itself in armour untill they emerge a god mirroring a caterpillar covering itself in a cocoon untill it emerges a butterfly is a pretty good character concept, however i feel the current Kayle is neither armoured enough nor her final form heroically naked enought for it to really work.
@Fæ The question is IS she "merciless dehumanized justice" she really feels like her godly and humanly beings are equal and as much as Kayle wants to get rid of human part of her she ultimately fails at it. Because for "merciless dehumanized justice" she has too many emotions that she shows. At least i was pretty convinced about it.
Kayle went from armored knight Angel to an angel in a divers suite with a couple of Amor parts that aren't just useless but moreso hindering or actually able to cause her harm...
I definitely agree her design was more interesting pre-rework. She was the only female character that always wore a helmet. While the armor was a bit silly it still made more sense than her current armor, not to mention as in the video, she actively loses proction while leveling up. Why, I just have never understood why.
I believe their explanation for that was that as she levels up she becomes so powerful that she no longer needs the armour. Which is like... It makes sense when you explain it like that. But I'd still prefer going the other way.
Honestly I would've preferred if they just upgraded old Kayle's model instead of doing whatever this is. Her old splash art was the most badass in the game
I don't think it would be profitable to make her like an immobile statue as she progresses but it would be interesting if as a character, perfection is power without even a funcitional body. Immoratlized in a shape that is not even alive
I guess you could make a point that she removes her helmet only to show us her golden eyes, which looks like she's either blinded or looking at you with the eyes of something not human. This however does not do any help to the rest of her many flaws. This rework was SO disapointing.
About her self-stabbing-in-the-sternum armor, regardless of whether or not it was intentional, couldn't there be a reading of it representing something like "justice never bends or bows" or "justice always stands 'straight' "?
Agree to disagree, but I don't think pre-rework Kayle was any more interesting. Just your typical Valkyrie-angel and the usual shadowy face to save polys. At least the new Kayle has an interesting passive visually and attack effects that match her theme
@@athenlawrance No, they're talking about the fact that she doesn't fly with her wings, her wings barely move while she floats. The old Kayle actually had flapping wings that made it look like she was flying using them, this one looks like she floats using magic and the wings are there just for aesthetics.
@@yakone1379 she uses magic to fly, also Kayle's old wings should bê WAT bigger to her fly properly (her animation looked like she couldn't stay stable in the air lol)
@Christian Linneberg yeah you bout got it. What we typically refer to as angels(i.e. Michael and Gabriel) don't have wings and are generally depicted as little more than human looking, albeit otherworldly. However the Cherubim and Seraphim are generally shown with multiple sets of wings. None of which are really used for flying as they are spiritual beings and thus not bound by the normal laws of physics the physical world works on.
taking her helmet as she ascends for me is actually a good idea- armors are made to protect humans. She also says that the more armor you wear, the more u are afraid of death. And I guess that just makes sense as she is bit by bit ascending. And the rest, I totally agree with you.
Well armor is used to hide (i.e. cover up our weaknesses), so her losing her helmet makes sense. Also, the increasing number of wings makes me pog every time...
As much as I agree that she sho7kd gain armour instead of losing it as she levels, I would assume they were aiming to show that she's grown so powerful that even she doesn't belive she needs the armour anymore.
@@carlfromaccounting1112 Urgot is pretty unique. Along with most Voidborn, Voli, Anivia, and Orrn, Ivern, etc. Basically Riot does have a good number of unique designs but humans are familiar to us because we're human. Ezreal looks like a random dudebro who's cousin got him into anime. Of course his design won't look unique to us but a giant crystal scorpion? That's eye catching
i feel like they could've pushed the avenging angel more ot the extreme like.. going more into biblically accurate horror. eyes on the wings, etc.. getting that everwatching big brother authoritarian "justice" across.
Her prework is like the knight angel lady that isn't like any other female characters in the game Then Her rework is this hour glass with wings and a plastic helmet
I haven’t used the base kayle skin in ages. The armour and big shoulder pads reminded me of samus originally. Lots of players who hadn’t heard her voice lines thought she was a guy in the splash art.
I know nothing about LoL, but these character concepts are always fascinating, and it’s a shame to see their concept hindered by their character designs.
Morgana: Sister maybe don't kill this person for jaywalking. Kayle: THEY WERE JAYWALKING TOO!? The most heinous crime in Demacia! *Sets them on endless fire*
This is a year late but I think the thing they were going for was that as she reaches closer to her ideal of being human she loses her need off the armor.
My opnion about Kayle becoming more "human" as she level up, it's that even if kayles wants to get rid of her humanity to trully ascend, she would never be able to, because of the human blood runing through her veines. On the contrary maybe if she accept her humanity she would become stronger and fully ascend. But I do agree with your other points about her "armor".
oh, being this early is the power of notifications, i see. anyway you’re absolutely right and as much as bisexy brain loves kayle, art brain misses my old chunky armor girl.
I think it's a good idea that she *looks* more human, at least potentially. In the beginning she has to pretend, wear a mask to hide her humanity from both herself and others As she ascends, she no longer needs to pretend. She goes from not looking human but being human deep down, to looking human but lacking any humanity
I think they had an extremely cool idea but kinda gave it up just to make her “hot”, if you take a look at her concept art you can see that they had a lot of cool concepts were she were a lot more armor (and some were rather practical/ resembled real life armor) that would give her more of the ‘law obsessed angel’ vibe
I've read a bit of the comments of her design and I have to admit a lot bring valid points. But I still feel as thought this design is more there to make her sexy than it is to make the the ascending power angel she's supposed to be. Comparing this to her design before rework I would say the old one fits her better.
I believe the thought behind Kayle taking her helmet off when transforming is to show that she was vulnerable before but now, that she has discarded all weaknesses, she doesn't need it anymore
I love Kayles design but i wish they made her keep her helmet on by the time she gets her wave blasting form. It made her look more intimidating and such
I feel like Kayle will never truly ascend without Morgana, since as much as they might fight they are still sisters, and this would still give kayle a tie back to her human half
It would be really cool if kayle Nowadays lvl 16 design was only her middle transformation and he final form the biblical form af Angels, thousands of eyes, fire wings erc
That's a really amazing idea Imagine as she levels up more and more abstract she become like a "real life seraphine" with a bunch of eyes and circles and eyes in circles
I actually kinda like her taking off the armor as she levels up, because I always thought armor made people look weirdly generic, so her leveling up to become more distinct seems good to me, but I definitely think her design is a bit boring, particularly the armor is very much "NPC guard in an MMO"-looking, which doesn't really fit her given how technically special she should be as a demi-Aspect.
The thing with kayle is that the power that she gains with her justice make her armour be torn by the sheer horniness of yours truly, aiming for the godly visage of her waist/hips/thigh combo. Latom
She's literally in flames when ascended and full stack doesn't quite human like to me but a generic version of an avenging angel. Plus the removal of helmet is fine since she will literally look like a knight with wings instead unless it's the old Kayle design which is fine to keep the helmet on
