This video is especially for NTPs, NFPs, INTJs, INFJs, and other personality types who value self-improvement but fall into the trap of talking themselves out of their healthy habits.
Your mind might be very good at creating stories to justify why today can be an exception (you’re running late for work, you have too much going on, you didn’t sleep well, etc.).
You might keep wondering, “What’s wrong with me? Other people seem to be able to just commit to a habit and get it done. Why can’t I just do this thing? It shouldn’t be so hard.”
So what can we do? I use a technique I think of as “bringing down the hammer.” It’s catching your mind classifying something in the category of things that can be analyzed and debated (e.g., do I want to watch this show or that show tonight?) and instead re-classifying it into the category of things that simply have to be done (e.g., I need to eat and sleep).
You've probably heard "just do it" or "suck it up" before, but what I'm suggesting is more nuanced. The problem we run into is that we allow it to be a choice or a debate. The key here is to notice the thinking pattern happening and stepping out of it. You’re not debating yourself and finding the best argument. You’re choosing to step out of that mental conversation entirely.
It's not going to just work right away. You need to train yourself, and I'll explain how.
