Foraging for Samphire on the Bristol Channel, revisited 2021. It’s been over five years since I made the original film on collecting this plant to eat. This is a sequel to that first film revisiting the same spots on the Bristol Channel in North Somerset. The season is a short one - samphire makes a brief appearance at the end of June or the first week of July and lasts until Sept, but it can be very woody at that time and is way past it’s best.

Cameras:
Canon EOSR mirrorless with RF 35mm prime lens.
Mavic Air
Edited in FCPX
V/O recorded on a Rode video mic.

it's good with fish of course, but a poached egg on toast runs a close second.

cheers Costas, drones... mmm, steep learning curve! I've been flying for over 5 years now, crashed em, ditched em, collided with allsorts of objects... you name it. I now consider myself an experienced pilot but it does take time and patience.

Andy you are making some absolutely amazing films ! Thank you. Love your canoeing and love marsh samphire.. I live further down the channel but on the opposite side [ nearest marsh samphire to me is Laugharne of Dylan Thomas fame..] where it is not that prolific but well tasty ..

Thanks for the positive comment Martyn. I can see Wales from the English side of course, but that sounds further along, yes I know Laugharne, close to Pendine sands if I remember correctly?
