I had several plastic trays that I used during disassembly to keep my valves in order, and to keep them from rolling around. They were also useful to keep things like spark plugs, push rods, or whatever you needed to keep in order. I always worried about valve bodies until they were all back together, one mis installed valve could wreck all your hard work.
Ive considered the same but could never find anything that works perfectly and since I'm the only one in my shop, there's minimal risk of messing up...Plus, I always take a picture of all the valve line ups then compare to the manual to ensure nothing got placed backwards or mis-placed into the wrong valve train...
