To help a few fellow Jeepers on the “death wobble” issue discussed, when I bought mine used everything actually was upgraded and tight. I didn’t get serious death wobble but it was tracking poorly on the hwy/frwy, turned out mine needed a slight toe adjustment, I set it to about 1/4” out and it made a world of difference. So if you are actually tight check your toe, camber and caster. Go to a 4x4 shop to have it done right if you don’t have the ability yourself. Great vid btw, hurt feelings be dammed, we need unbiased real use info on all rigs, I’m so tired of biased arguments from others.

Thats more of a alignment issue then death wobble. Death wobble you wouldn't be able to drive. You literally have to come to a stop just to cancel the death wobble. , Death wobble is soo many factors that it makes it impossible to suggest fixing one thing. For new jeepers I would start like this, check track bar and make sure its tight/torqued, Check track bar holes/bushings. Then check ball joints, the most common ive seen is blown out ball joints. Its nothing for a jeep with bigger tires to destroy a set of ball joints in less then 15k miles. Check drag link , check tie rod as well. Check unit bearings ( Again ,bigger tires chew up unit bearings) Check tires, make sure they are properly balanced. Check alignment. Seems like a lot, but if you want to play with big heavy tires with aggressive offset wheels you need to maintain things more often. Unless you can afford the upgrades for those parts to last longer.

Yep death wobble happens to basic alignment issues. It's not a Jeep thing, it is a I don't know what is going on thing. for those that had there uncle install their tie rods.

@@HeartAE86 correct real death wobble comes from worn out parts, poor maintenance and improper modifications. Slight shakes or bumpsteer can occur from some very basic and easily fixed issues.

So we know that in LiteBrite's earlier video (Jan 2022) on stock Bronco and stock Wrangler, the Bronco did 100% of everything the Jeep JL Rubicon did which was moderate difficulty at Sand Hollow with Trail Ratings of 8. This is probably as difficult a trail that 99% of off-roaders will never even do! This comparison video is from the perspective of extreme rock-crawlers where IFS will not perform as well on constantly climbing rocks taller than bumper height. Yes we know that IFS can't articulate as well as solid front axle but many offroaders will never see that situation so I feel this video is for the individual who will rock-crawl with a rig that has 20k+ of suspension upgrades. Bronco has much more practical use that 99.9% of people need.

We actually agree that the Bronco will be capable of meeting the needs of 99% of owners off road. Extremely few owners, of either a Bronco or a Jeep, will ever find the limitations of their vehicle. However, the difficulty level of a trail is subjective. To us, the trail we did with the Jeep/Bronco in the video you mentioned is not a difficult trail (although to most people it probably would be considered extreme). However, we did reinforce the Bronco tie rods prior to attempting it. The factory ones otherwise would not have survived the drop into that bowl.

Agreed. The Subaru comparison was a low blow 😂. The Bronco is very capable and even better in some situations. Plus with some mods it will keep up with Jeeps anywhere but extreme rock crawling. Even then it can still do it it’s just not as well.

In regards to Death wobble, I had it in my 2005 Ram CTD/6sp 200,000miles... Was the ball joints.... I had a 75 K5 with 14leaf National Springs, that never had Death wobble for the 20yrs I had it... Started to get hints of Death wobble on the JK, changed the ball joints and welded/tightened up the trackbar bracket holes and the fixed the problem....

Totally agree! Have driven both and I tend to offroad more similar to what you guys do. For my purposes the Jeep has to be the choice. I daily as well but I can go anywhere anytime the urge hits me.

I’ve owned Jeeps and now a Bronco as well. The Bronco does everything that I want it to do here in Colorado….it handles the pucker factor just fine. For extreme off reading you’re spot on Jeep wins. However the extreme usage really hasn’t been my gig for either vehicle….$60K Jeep or Bronco I personally don’t want to tear either of them up. I know my limits based upon my driving abilities as well. Bronco wins based upon comfort!

The Bronco is honestly probably capable of MOST people’s comfort zone off road. Just need to pay close attention to the weak links (which is true for any vehicle when you challenge it’s limits)

I'm with you on the electronic transfer case. Long time ago but I had a Bronco II with a pushbutton 4x4 shifter and one of the first things I did was swap it out for a purely mechanical case.

I second this - have a 4Runner with the electric selector and it's the ONLY part of rhe vehicle that's failed to function, ever. Over 1,500 offroad miles and everyelse has been trouble free. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Great video. I'm getting a '22 Bronco Outer Banks to replace my 2001 F-150. Nastiest thing I expect to drive through will be getting home up Big Rock Road (Duvall, WA) to my house on the day the snow hits. Will put it on the appropriate GOAT mode and drive on.

I think you guys summed that up rather well! I agree completely with the Pro's and Con's you gave. Bronco's Give that great ride with the IFS and have some nice features. Some of them are useful on the trail, on the other hand some of them can leave you stuck. Jeep's have always rode ruff and will go anywhere and they are good at what they was built for Off Road. Thanks for the un biased view on them.

About the death wobble, it can be a good thing. You could justify upgrading the whole front end to your significant other piece at a time chasing it.

The "death wobble" is a side effect of the recirculating ball stearing box. The same type of stearing box that all vehicles had for a long time, and all over the road trucks still have. By design there is some play when stationary due to the clearance needed in the balls. Worn suspension parts emphasis this play and can allow for oscilating movement even if the driver isn't trying to turn the wheel, particularly if you let things go too far. With a rack and pinion steering the driver is faster to notice this wear and the lack of play in the system prevents it from oscilating back and forth like a recirculating ball steering gear.

Have a 21 Wrangler diesel, love the Bronco. Up until a few months ago, I considered getting a Bronco. I recently started pulling 4x8 utility trailer with roof top tent mounted to it. Also, have awning mounted to the side of the Jeep. Really like the pulling power of the diesel in these AZ hills/mountains while getting 20 mpg with 3 passengers and gear/food. Guess I'll keep the Jeep for a bit longer. 🙂

Great video.. I love the non biased opinions you guys give.. I’m on my 3rd Wrangler now, needless to say I love them.. Having never driven a new Bronco I can not opine on them what so ever.. they look very capable and appear to have better road manners for sure…what I can say is that when I look at a Bronco I feel nothing.. there is something about the look of a Wrangler that can not be duplicated..For that reason alone I would never replace my Jeep, no matter what!!

When they announced the Bronco I was hoping for a manual transfer case and solid front axle. But I had three items that were required, removable top, two door and manual transmission. They got all three of them. I picked up my two door Badlands manual Sasquatch with the 12 inch screen 5 days ago. Very happy with it.

I’ve debated between Bronco and Jeep. I doubt I’ll ever do hard core rock crawling like you guys, more moderate trails with plenty of trips to Target. So I think the Bronco would be better for me. Good to know the downsides. Great video content!

Agreed -- I still need a daily driver, where I will be 99% on paved surfaces or freeway. I still do long road trips, and want the comfort and handling of IFS. Bronco suits me just fine.

I almost laughed out loud when you started talking about people who have an Outback and want to do more. While neither I, nor anyone I know, would describe me as fitting the Subaru profile, my last three daily driver/exploration vehicles were Foresters. But, I often was often limited in where I could go in my Subies, so I reserved a Bronco Badlands in August 2020. After waiting two years for the Bronco to show up (I still have a reservation, BTW, but will cancel soon), I finally gave up and started looking at a Defender. In the end, I bought a fully loaded 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk at the end of June 22 and never looked back. For what we do (frequent road trips into and moderate trails, so far -- but we do want to do more with it), it's absolutely perfect (AND it's got vented seats, A/C in vents in the rear, an awesome sound system, the tow hitch I had dropped from the Bronco order in hopes of getting it faster -- and with the 6,200 lbs towing capacity, we can very easily travel with our our 5,000 lbs (when fully loaded) travel trailer, and so much more!).

I totally agree with all the bad things about the Bronco. I hate the fact that there are no cupholders and no heat or air in the back seat. Huge let down. The overall lack of storage was something I noticed immediately especially after owning a Chevy High Country. Cab noise and shitty windshield was another thing. Windshield was split at 6000km and every little tiny rock leaves a huge chip. I thought the ride would be way more choppy but the Wildtrak I own rides better than the 4 Runner limited with the Bilstein ride height shocks. I still love the 4runner though. I totally agree with your assessment of the Bronco and Jeep. I chose the Bronco due to the smooth ride and the fact 95% of my driving is on pavement or gravel. I had the death wobble in my 2010 Power Wagon and it was pretty terrifying at 120 km/hr. Someone commented below that the Wildtrak has rear vents they barely blow and air and it gets super cold up here in Canada. If you plan on having passengers in the rear seats in the winter get a 12 volt heated blanket.

Fun video. I think I’m still happy w my 4Runner TRD OR purchase. Added sliders and 3 inch Bilstein lift. I have taken it on some fairly tough trails but it handles so nice on-road too. Plus it should last forever. I do not doubt Jeep/Bronco are more offroad capable stock but would love to see a 4Runner comparison video!

Great video, in the 80s I ran a 77 K-5 blazer 8 inches of lift 40 inch gumbos four speed Toploader, was mostly into mud water and trails, never was big into rock crawling, you’re right about the straight axle in the front a lot stronger, independent front suspension you get a better ride, and like most people said extreme four wheeling not too many people do, just purchased a two door black diamond it’s a base with 35 inch tires, my son has the badlands Sasquatch, and we will be going four wheeling in the early spring, up here in Pennsylvania, and like you said Chevy drop the ball they could’ve came out with a blazer since they’ve been around since 67, that would’ve been a nice three-way competition, looking forward to seeing more videos

Thank you Kevin and Brittany for telling the truth about death wobbles. It's always the track bar or tie rods are worn out. Bolt holes are always next. But yeah that's a jeep thing with any aftermarket lift kit if it's not done right. Let Chris install your lift kit and you'll never experience the death wobbles 💯💯💯

With the stock housings you need to keep and eye on the track bar brackets too. I had my front snap off the diff. Mind you its copped a LOT of abuse before and during my ownership. For me ill choose jeep for the fact i honestly am just not a fan of 99% of what ford design purely based on looks. Thats just a personal taste thing

The Jeep for washboards, dirt roads and woops is my JT Mojave !! Ok not a wrangler but … it’s a Jeep. No rear cup holders , no rear a/c… can’t be family vehicle. It does look cool though appearance wise.

I love my 22 Mohave , it’s the best Jeep on the highway and it’s great for the crappy bumpy dirt roads we have in maine. I don’t rock crawl, but I can fly down bumpy washboard roads!!

Pretty much nailed it, our 4dr SAS Badlands doesn't creak and groan but others most certainly do. The power and the transmission are excellent, it drives so well you forget you are on 35's and can easily do 80+ at the end of a freeway entrance ramp. I'm used to wheeling fullsize stuff and my 74 on tons and I did lift tires quite a few times wheeling ours 4dr and it was uneasy but I could pound it up nearly anything I pointed the wheels at, what stopped me was more of a rock slider limitation than anything else. I think more than anything the Bronco will have to take a different driving style and approach that is different than solid axle swap vehicles and that will take nothing but time. SFA vehicles will put a tire up on a rock and jamb the other into the ground where IFS will carry a tire - which can be super beneficial, it just takes confidence and seat time to get there, which very few have at this point. I feel like once the front end weakness is solved the

Very well put guys, great comparison, I think you summed up the differences perfectly at the end! For Ford, whose goal is to sell A LOT of vehicles, it only makes sense for them to go for that middle market. I think a great future comparison video would be to compare the different Wrangler platforms- Diesel vs 4xE vs 3.6 vs 392!!

Great comparison video. After watching this video, I feel alot better about waiting for my bronco badlands SAS that I have ordered VS buying a Wrangler. For me not planning to be a hard core off road'er and only weekend trail riding and mostly street usage the bronco appears to be a better fit for me. Not having kids that are going to be riding in the back seats and rarely have anyone riding in the back, lack of adequate A/C is not a great concern, sucks to be a back seat passenger. LOL

This is a great summary of your experience with both vehicles. You were honest about the positives and negatives both offer. Where the person lives and their intent of off road is a major influence of which is the best choice. If I were to ever go full on rock hoping a purpose build vehicle is the only way to go. 90% of either vehicle will barely leave pavement or occasional dirt road. Ford built the Bronco to hit the majority use case.

Yes, I built a Jeep and while I love the fact that I can drive it across the country and seriously wheel I often wonder if I should’ve built a purpose built buggy. Could have done it for the same money spent in upgrades on my Jeep.

No one has done the comparison yet but Id be willig to bet a stock 2 door wrangler sport out the box is a better vehicle off road than Bronco 2 door base off. On road everyday driving the Bronco will be better most likely due to the front IFS

I’m not sure about that - Because I think you can equip a base Bronco with lockers from Factory, which you cannot do on a Sport Wrangler. (Correct us if we’re wrong there but pretty sure most, if not all, Bronco trims could potentially be equipped with lockers)

@@ScottyBennitone . Correct. The lowest trim that you can add lockers to is the big bend (the secret poor man off-road build). I know this because I own one (it was about 500 to add).

Awesome video I would like to make one suggestion and I know you guys are extremely extremely busy I would go through your old videos or your mind and think of a trail that really tested the Jeep in stock ish form/stepchild and take the Bronco through the same trail and an insert videos on how it did compared to the Bronco against the stepchild , I think back to some of your older videos & all the scrapes and hang up , like the time you pivoted the Jeep on a rock and turned it almost all the way around , so funny , you guys did put that thing through hell , I don't think anybody tested the Jeep platform like you guys did absolutely awesome videos , 👍

Love the bronco. I'm not an extreme rock crawler. Love overlanding and going on adventures and the bronco fits. It's great on the highway and off-road. Not the best off-roaders but definitely the best of both worlds.

I would agree but the build quality is so bad. It feels like a 25k rental car. If the fit and finish was on par with a 60k vehicle it would be a no brainer

@@LiteBrite This is purely subjective imo. I personally think the interior "style" on the Jeeps is nicer, with a few exceptions, but I wouldn't suggest that the general "quality" of the interior is much better than the Bronco. On the contrary I actually like the overall layout of the Bronco more than a Jeep, I also feel the Bronco is a LOT more comfortable. Granted, there are some 1st/2nd year gremlins on the bronco (rattles, etc) that I am sure will get resolved eventually, and Jeep has had a bit more time to resolve those little things right out of the gate. However, every jeep I have ever owned or been in, that was more than a couple years old had all of the same types of long-term quality issues. In the end, we accept those things because of what the vehicle is capable of doing otherwise, but if we were making the decision based on interior fit and finish alone, there are better options than both, that are almost as capable, if not just as capable with a few modifications. Within reason of course, as if you're building a dedicated super hard-core rock crawling rig, Jeep is still your only option for the most part, but in those cases you've probably already ripped out or destroyed most of your interior anyway lol! P.S. Peanut Butter is freakin' adorable!

We've had both. A 2016 Wrangler and a 2021 Bronco Badlands. No comparison...at least for us. Bronco hands down. Narrow foot well of Wrangler became tiresome on long trips. IFS offers much better ride on road. 10 speed auto smooth as silk compared to 5 speed auto we had in Jeep amd doesn't stall in reverse like Jeep did in cold weather. Love the A pillar mounted mirrors. And Bronco has an amazing heater! Driving Jeep even with hard top in cold Wisconsin winter was a cool undertaking. We really did enjoy our Jeep, but Bronco is just better for us in every way.

I agree with a lot of what you said, but I believe a lot of your issues are specific to your model and how you off road. For example rear cup holders, my trim has them in the rear armrest in the seats, and they’re awesome. Regarding trust, I have had a completely different experience. We’ve done thousands of miles off road in Baja and on the socal trail system with no issues. We recently took a group of 15 broncos down to Baja, and 0 issues on the gen6 platform. The tie rod issues are blown out of proportion by people who drive IFS like a rigid axel, don’t respect the geometry of the suspension when lifting them, and sell solutions to fix the “problem”. Yeah, someone else mentioned that their leather option came with center fold down cup holders. But for a $65K vehicle, it just seems like back seat cupholders should exist. 😅 Outside of that, you’re correct. The definition of “trail difficulty” is subjective. What we consider to be easy or moderate, are usually trails 99% of people would never attempt (even in their Jeep). Most people aren’t used to or willing to actually find the limits of their off road vehicles like we are. For rock crawling, an IFS rig will never out perform a comparable solid axle rig. But for baja style off roading, a solid axle will never out perform a comparable IFS vehicle. Can an IFS rock crawl, and can a solid axle baja? Of course. But they’ll experience a failure before the one that’s in its element.

The solid axel is a more cost effective solution for crawling to the general public, but a center mount IFS with portals is the best for crawling period its just a huge investment. Ultra 4 is proving this each year as more teams convert.

They are converting because the ifs is so much faster in the desert that they make up way more time than they lose in the rocks to the solid axle vehicles. Yes the portals help them more but they are still inferior in the rocks. But god are they fast in the desert.

I've been driving jeep CJs/Wranglers since the 80s and absolutely love them. I always say that it is the only vehicle I have owned that I have fun driving it every time I do. Currently I have a 1997 TJ, on 33s, with 70K on the clock and never had the dreaded DW (thankfully!). Love the thing but use my Dodge Dakota for longer road trips (have tow bar for jeep if needed). My nephew has a couple Broncos (one older and a new one) and his are for mainly road use or an occasional trip to the Dunes on Lake MI.

I have group of 500 in my Jeep group that upgrade all their steering, on 35s or more and lifted, uh yea that's like 99 percent of jeepers that are capable. I do not understand this logic that no one is off-roading. I bet people think my Jeep is a mall crawler because I have flashy red rims and still have to shop at Walmart like everyone else to feed my family. I have been on over 50 trails including rated 9 badge trails. It's more of a conceited viewpoint. Guess what, you're not special, and the Bronco is still IFS lol.

As a software engineer, I don't trust software. I wouldn't want an electrical (software controlled) transfer case like that. Same reason I would never trust auto drive in a car that features it. I'm too close to software to ever trust software that much. As to the Bronco seats I think I'd have done cloth seats. Companies actually make ventilated seat covers which honestly work decently well.

Servo motors are cool too but in my experience they do fail more often than linkage or cable systems. And you're not wrong electronics have taken over every aspect of our vehicles, shit even clutches on manuals are electronically controlled now, unfortunately. Doctors... Death wobble does happen in IFS vehicles not as often as a solid axle but still happens. With the IFS it has extra points of failure to check that can cause it but doesn't have a bandaid fix like a solid axle.

Many years ago when I was in my early 20s I drove a hillside wheat combine, a wheat harvester tractor that was two stories tall, the “hillside” part means that it had a lever in the cockpit that goes side to side and causes hydraulics to tilt from left to right so it could lean in and stay level going across steep hillsides, it had a switch to do this automatically or manually. My father was trying to kill me so he taught me just enough about how to drive it to be dangerous so I had to just figure it out, but I am good a that. The front wheels on this were as tall as a lifted Wrangler. I liked to practice my rock climbing on those tires. It was an old harvester that my dad drove many years before and had been in storage for years but it had sealed bearings everywhere accept the bearings with the heaviest loads, it must have been one of the first tractors with so many sealed bearings and for a harvester BAD IDEA! After a couple years I learned that I could tell if a bearing had gone out by the squeaking sound. If I heard a squeaky spot, I would remember that and in the winter when I repaired it for the next season I would take it apart at the squeaky locations and there was always a bad bearing there and doing it that way I always repaired it before it got really bad. Previously when I didn’t know what the squeaks meant the bearings would go out and in season one and the next season they would completely disintegrate, then it’s CLANKING because a shaft is rotating inside a plate that has no bearing, just a hole that is enlarging slightly every time it turns. Then, of course, to repair it you not only must put in a new bearing but also replace all the surrounding parts, a lot more work and expense. Maybe, if you put microphones in different places on your Jeeps suspension you could hear witch parts are functioning correctly by silence and broken by squeaking sounds. Come to think of it a computer could do that very effectively.

So Glad I sold my Jeep, Where I agree with many points you guys made I would still take a Bronco over the Jeep. I fit in the crowd of go fast off road and I just never felt I could safely in the jeep. I swapped out so many times on minor crap on Power line roads it was not funny. Maybe Ford will work some rear A/C vents and cup holders into the rear at some point. I know Leather trimmed seat option has the center drop down with the holders, should have do that with all of them Ford!!

Plus, while I think the lack of rear cupholders is ridiculous, it's an easy 10 minute fix with aftermarket options. The IAG one looks like a great option and an easy install. The AC problem, however, is not an easy fix. People say Ford must have forgotten the rear AC, but that seems like a huge oversight I just can't believe their engineers would miss. They chose not to include it, but I'd sure like to hear from them why. Bronco all the way, since it does everything off-road in Moab for me I would ever try to do in a vehicle this expensive, and it's miles ahead of the Wrangler on-road. Btw, I'm a HUGE Mopar guy, and I'm definitely a Jeep fan. Jeep fanboys don't want to fathom this, and Bronco sales will probably be the decisive factor, but no one should be shocked when the next generation of Wrangler has IFS.

I agree with them on both counts: Jeeps are inherently great rock crawlers and that the Bronco with IFS performs better as an over landing vehicle. As to the comment of Jeep being Fiat, my two Jeeps were built by the American Motors Corporation: 1974 and 1979 CJ5s. That pretty much sums up my story. My Jeeps are massively upgraded, do what Jeeps do best and do it very well. Built in the USA, Southfield, Michigan.

100000% with you on the electronic transfer case. I didn’t have 4x4 for 2 months due to a short in the wiring harness. Nothing mechanically was wrong or needed to be changed. It’s then up to finding a dealer that’s knows what they are doing to find the short.

I feel the Bronco was designed more for the moderate off-roader, much weaker than the Wrangler. I wheeled around Shelby Hall during EJS and she pushed her 2 door Bronco hard she couldn’t keep up with me over tough obstacles at all, but would run me down on mild trails!! It was a fun game on Top of the world Trail. She zipped right through the Escalator on Hell’s revenge though!!🤷🏻‍♂️ Great honest review!!!

Honestly, part of the difference & where our opinion sort of derived from is that most people genuinely don’t know what a stock Rubicon is actually capable of. Which is understandable, because most people aren’t willing or can’t afford to push the limits of their vehicle like we have done & still do. What a lot of people consider to be “hard” trails is subjective. An easier way of saying this is - If the same person drove each vehicle back to back on let’s say a 7 or 8 rated trail, over and over and over again, the Bronco is likely to begin showing its weak points much sooner than the Wrangler would. It’s not saying that the Bronco can’t do it. It’s just more of a question of how many times can you confidently & reliably do it before something gives.

Before we bought the Bronco, we asked six Jeep owners what they would buy. Four of the six said to get the Bronco. A few talked about the breakdowns and poor comfort with Jeeps.

Stock for stock I'll take the Bronco everyday, if you do a minor lift and bigger tires I'll still take the Bronco every day (with supporting steering mods from Bronc Buster). If you're modifying your rig to the point of almost being a buggy, well then I don't think you can realistically even do that with a Bronco the way you can with a Jeep. I still think the biggest weaknesses of the factory Wrangler are: axles with anything bigger than factory tires, tie rod ends, and electronics, otherwise the Jeep can be had for way less than MSRP and obviously is the better rock crawler. So apples to apples stock vs stock, perhaps excluding the electronic transfer case on the Bronco - the Bronco is tried and proven to be more reliable then a Wrangler. Numbers of warranty claims don't lie if you compare the two vehicles against each other.

I just cross the center left over to the right rear passenger and the center right vent over to the left rear passenger and everybody seems to be happy, if not too cold. I also have a MIC top, so that obviously makes a difference.

I was 30 days from doing just as you said and replacing the ENTIRE front end, axle and all, but it had given me PTSD so bad and I had to trade. Such a horrible experience, not sure if I'll go back. I love my JL, it truly is the best iteration so far. I've never had an ongoing issue with death wobble. There were some growing pains after installing the lift and 37's. but got it sorted out and its been my daily driver, I bought it new in March 2018. I've put almost 130,000kms on it, roughly 80,000 miles. I've had zero problems, other than the factory recalls, and it still has the original windshield. No cracks. As for the Bronco, I have no interest in it. I don't like the look, its bigger and heavier than the Wrangler. Ford let a lot of things slide and pretty much ignored quality control with the fit and finish. I also don't like the engine choices and I hate the electronic transfer case. Don't get me wrong, I like Ford, I've owned Fords, but tell me Ford didn't push the Bronco out before it was ready. At least, thats the way it looks to me. Great info. Your thoughts and opinions are cool to listen to. Oh, and I still get better than 21MPG on the highway.

FINALLY! An honest review about Bronco's. I'm tired of watching videos where the Bronco is sitting at the bottom of a big hill and the next shot is that it's on top. I never expected Bronco to be a Jeep, but I hate the dishonest video's that pretend it is. It doesn't make me dislike the Bronco; it just prepares me for the imperfections. Jeeps have imperfections also. I had death wobble in my '97 2 door and if you think it's bad in a 4 door, you ain't lived until you feel it in a 2 door. Luckily, I have a competent mechanic who nailed it immediately. Great video as always! Love Peanut! Can't wait for more PB&J's.

@@LiteBrite I think 2 Factors have to be part of the design to have death wobble... Straight axle and coil springs.... Seems like if you eliminate one or the other, the chance of death wobble is greatly diminished .... With Chrysler stuff, it's crappy ball joints and thin track bar brackets.... With the Older Full Sized Broncos, it was the work out C bushings... Not so much anything else.... At my work we have ford F550 4x4's with service beds on them... They are always in the shop for death wobble.... They have coil front springs... The older F650s with front leaf springs have never been in the shop for death wobble.... I think there's too many connection points with coil springs, allowing tiny bits of movement along with the jouncing of coils that amplify the movement the further out the suspension parts are from the connection point..

I got my first jeep, a ‘22 Gladiator, and my biggest surprise is the lack of rattles. For some reason I was expecting a far looser, less refined experience. Super happy with it.

@@LiteBrite Handles on Badlands do flex too much but I think they paid a lot more attention to the details than Jeep IMO. I just bought a Sasquatched Badlands 2.3 manual and love it. Had a V-8 CJ7 on 35's. In all honesty if I wanted to do super hardcore rock crawling versus the Rubicon trail which is my current threshold I would build a rock crawler so I wouldn't feel bad about scratching it up. So for a do it all vehicle the Bronco wins. Overhanding-Bronco, Daily-Bronco, Trails-Bronco, Extreme Rock-Jeep. Informative and entertaining content.

Honestly, there isn’t. 💁‍♀️ At the end of the day, for the type of off roading that we do (which is generally more extreme rock crawling) we personally would choose a Jeep. But that doesn’t mean that the Bronco doesn’t excel in off road areas (like baja and high speeds) over the Jeep, and would be a better choice for people who would rather better on road mannerisms in their off road capable vehicle. 🙂

I'm confused I just watched your video again when you 1st purchased your Bronco. You took it rock crawling up some pretty decent stuff. You said, so many times how incredibly impressed you were at everything the Bronco did especially being stock. You seemed so excited about it.

We were excited about it, but the more seat time we had in it (especially on road) the more we noticed things that bothered/annoyed us. Also, the trails we’ve wheeled it on are not the same difficulty level we were used to doing in our Jeep when it was stock.

The Bronco is really designed to be a $30,000 vehicle with a bunch of stuff tacked on to make it $60k+. Even in the Badlands you still lack a lot of things expected in such an expensive vehicle.

Totally agree why is there manual mode if you can’t use it like a manual shifter. It’s not really manual if it’s a button to shift up and down. 9:44

Hey man, the jeep transfer case lever is not mechanical, its just a switched lever that's designed and made to feel like one. All of the internal components and gearing is still controlled by servos and actuators, if it was mechanical then you wouldn't have had the issues you had with the previous TCase on the Step Child. The only way to get a mechanical case on either of these would be to swap one in aftermarket.

Only thing I got to disagree on is the button shifter. I prefer the simple buttons on the side of the shifter. Every time I get in a Chrysler product with those silly fake sport shifter they feel ridiculous to me. That’s my opinion

I've said that from the very beginning that the 4 wheels drive should be manual There's just way too much computer crap on the Bronco. You know a servo is going to eventually jam up or stop working and you can't even crawl under the vehicle too manually put it in for a wheel drive.

I had that same issue on my 2018 ZR2 Colorado. A stupid switch that started to mess up and not let me go into 4WD. Not a problem on the JKU Rubicon I have now.

And we genuinely don’t have any loyalty to either. We personally prefer our Jeep because of the type of rock crawling we do, but the Bronco absolutely has its place & could probably handle what 90% of owners would ever throw at it.

I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum as you but have a similar conclusion. I have a base Bronco, 7 speed manual' stock everthing, and open diffs. I paid less than 1/2 what your bronco cost without upgrades. I love it. I take it on a few trails but its just fun to drive it's not extreme or hardcore just a blast to drive. I tell people it will do 90% of what a comparable jeep will do off road but its 100% better to drive on road. And i drive it slow on the freeway but I get have averaged 24.5 mpg over the 5k miles I've put on it. I bet for 95% of the people who offroad the bronco would do everything asked of it. The 5% would break it and should buy the Jeep. (I'm also on my 3rd subie LOL)

I have a Bronco, 2dr, Badlands, Squatch owner and just took it to Ouray. I upgraded to FabTech's heim joint full tie rods. I put the BroncBuster bushing in it. I replaced the bumper to a steel winch bumper w/Warn that let me still retain the front camera. Nothing else, yet. So far the hardest thing I have done is Poughkeepsie Gulch but I didn't try the wall. I agree with most of the weaknesses you point out on the Bronco. I WILL be replacing the steering rack, shocks and plating over time. For what I do the Bronco, so far, does exactly what I need it to do. On road is SO much better than a Jeep and that is where I spend 99% of my time.

I love the stay-bar disconnect when under load. I like being able to lock the front axel independent of the back. I like Trail Turn Assist. I have used all of those. I am surprised the stock config has as much travel on the IFS as it does but it can be improved. It still won't ever be as much as a solid front axel. For MY driving, I am ok with that compromise.

Try some of the old Jeeps. The "fit and finish" were horrible. Jeeps improved a lot over time, a LONG time. I believe the Bronco will do the same as long as they keep building them. This is still the first generation. Even the aftermarket is just getting started. With time, redesigns by Ford and the aftermarket will, hopefully, make the Bronco better on and off road. At least that is my hope. I still love mine.

My first sequential experience was in a Formula Renault, pull to shift, push to downshift is so intuitive. Since then very sequential car I've been in had the up and down inverted. 🤷‍♂
