FORD EDGE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR REPLACEMENT BANK 1 BANK 2 LINCOLN MKX
In this video we will show you how remove and replace camshaft position sensor bank 1 and camshaft position sensor bank 2 on Ford Edge first generation 2007-2014. It should also work on Lincoln MKX since they share the same platform. We demonstrated how to remove and replace camshaft position sensor bank 1 and camshaft position sensor bank on 2009 Ford Edge with the 3.5 engine.

Sir you helped me figure this problem out! I took it to our good mechanic shop and couldn't figure it out. I did the first steps you instructed to and found out it was unplugged. I guess my friend that worked on my valve cover gasket left the sensor unplugged. You saved me me thousands of dollars because the for real mechanic told me I had something wrong with the brains of the SUV.

Thanks for posting this. I replaced valve cover gaskets and ended up with P0340 and P0344 codes. It ended up being the bank one sensor unhooked. You sure helped me out.

I took my 2011 ford flex to autozone for the free code reader. It came up as P0012 (which came up twice) and P0022 which came up once. Replacing those two sensors will fix it correct?

Have hesitation I changed throttle body plugs coils air filter and throttle pedal had code for o2 sensor and change that also. I have no codes and still have hesitation when I demand fuel under load. Any ideas?

I have a P0017 code on a 2011 Ford Edge which is "Crankshaft & Camshaft Bank 1 Sensor B" - I am trying to locate the correct position. This video is helpful in showing me the correct bank but there are also 2 sensors in bank 1 so can anyone advise which is the correct one for Sensor B please?

Any luck yet? .. i went blindly and changed one of them which didn't solve the issue, tomorrow im going to try switching them.. if that didn't work the mechanic said the timing is out and has to be corrected which is a lot of work.

@@m3g4game hey thanks for the reply man. I ended up changing both sensors on the drivers side as I got them relatively cheap on Amazon. Unfortunately neither install resolved the issue and I also think it must have been the timing. I ended up trading it in a few weeks ago - that sorted the problem :) :)

Man I'm having the same problem on my mothers 09 ford taurus.The code is giving me cam shaft and crank shaft bank 2.I had seen that another person was told the same thing ,that the timing was bad and what not but he ended up changing out the vvt solenoid and it fixed his problem.so I changed that first and code went away for awhile but its back now.I guess I'll try and change camshaft sensor second because the crank shaft sensors hard to get to.

I replaced all the spark plugs and ignition coils period. I originally had a misfire and number 5 and 6 with the codes p0305 and p0306. And P0300... after changing plugs and coils I now do not have a misfire in cylinder 5. But now the misfire it's happening in cylinders 3 4 and 6. COULD THE CODE P0300 BE GIVING ME THESE CHANGING MISFIRES DUE TO THE CAM SENSORS being bad???

Auto Repair Guys What code was this throwing to warrant the crankshaft sensor (CMP) replacement? Do these CMP sensors fail often? I have a Mazda 6 with the MZI 3.7 throwing P0344 Intermittant CMP Sensor Circuit Bank 1. I have a hard time believing the sensor failed considering they're solid state hall effect sensors. I'm hoping it's not a symptom of a bigger timing issue? I might switch the Bank 1/Bank 2 sensors and see if the code follows the sensor.

In a p0018 would it be better (or necessary ) to replace both intake and exhaust camshaft positioning sensors ..or just the bank 2 sensor A? Also would it help to replace the crankshaft sensor as well ? Thanks ! (Mercedes m156)

Are the camshaft position sensors redundant? As in, does it matter if I change bank 1 or bank 2? The error code I have doesn't say if it's the bank 1 or bank 2 sensor.

Yes it matters. Each one measures one of the cams.

Actually mine was coming up with that because the timing was off by a hair an I replaced both anyways but my problem was because the cam shafts wasn’t reading simultaneously

Yes. The engine is used in about 8 different models across a few makes. Ford, Lincoln, Mazda, etc..

A shop has to charge a couple hundred bucks to justify doing any work on a car. All it requires is a flathead screwdriver and a 8mm socket to do it. I just changed mine in 3 minutes.

Jewelry I agree with you. But the track suits are nomex, fire resistant material. And he does advise to use gloves and fire protection, like extinguisher and such. He points out these things openly. And another thing to consider is that this car is literally being taken apart as a video series and then 'clipped' together.
