I bought computer from a junk yard from a 1990 Lincoln town car 5.0. I'm sure these bad capacitors are what got the car junked. from what I've read the worst of the two capacitors drives the maf sensor. Cars run like crap without a maf. great vid. Back away and use your zoom! I know where MarVac is, I like JK Electronics in Westminster by bowling alley. Im looking to adapt an EEC-IV EFI from a 300 six to a slant six. Did you compare your Holley to this one yet? Why they used these failures instead of tantalum caps is bad form. My 93 SC400 had same issue. Replaced them all for under $9. Got my smooth idle back.

What were the values of the capacitors? Did your friend advise you to get caps made for hi temperature environments? (In case the computer is in the engine bay)

Jeff Robertson: You need two 47uF 16 Volt 105 degree C and one 10uF 63 Volt 105 degree C capacitors. You can go up on the voltage or the temp, but you can't go down on either value. However, the uF (microfarad) must be an exact match.

@@fwh79FOXR6 I got a 95 Town Car with a 2004 Interceptor that likes to randomly surge idle only in gear. Once you got to park/neutral, its fine. The original PCM was doing it all the time no matter what gear/park it was in. Replacing the PCM has helped a lot, but hasn't fixed the issue. I'm leaning towards the driver for the IAC. Any clue how to replace them or where I can get a schematic on this particular PCM? Appreciate any feedback.

today is April 25, 2020. i just called fintech and left a message in the general inbox. i have a 95 mustang GT that just smoked 2 F4ZF-12A650-JB computers. one is a cobra J4J1 and the other is a T4M0. i opened them up and both have burnt transistors in the "Q1" area of the circuit board. i need to know what circuits does the Q1 transistors effect in the wire harness of the car? the car doesn't have fuel pump priming control or ignition pulse control. any help would be great. thanks

I'm not in the office. I haven't worked on one of these ECU's for a few years. I am using holley HP efi now. I'm not sure what Q1 does but it might be a mosfet. I would fix the ECU and check the wiring between the ECU and relays.

@@fintechrepairshop Q1 is in the lower, right hand corner of the EEC4. it appears to be a transistor under the black heat sink that attaches to the computer case. if i knew what circuits effect that part of the computer, i could search and repair the circuit issue. thanks for responding
