I spent $69K on a new F350 Tremor instead of a TRD Pro. I’m happy because for the same money the F350 Tremor has three times the payload and twice the towing capability of the new Tundra and has 35in tires standard.

I did 2000k miles on my Tremor 402a a few weeks back. Took it off roading on the Trinity River and also some flash floods in Lake Havasu and Joshua Tree. Also field tested it on 24 miles of off roading in the Cleveland National Forest. This truck is amazingly comfortable and confident and the Torsen front diff with the rear locker and drive modes makes a real serious difference between it and my last FX4 Platinum that I had on 35's. My only little gripe is that the small bump compliance wasn't as soft as I was expecting but I was still able to drive it 15 mph faster than my old truck when off roading. That, my friend, is a huge difference!

@trailrunnah8886
@trailrunnah8886 Год назад
Yeah, that is an epic fail in my opinion. Though, it is kind of a Toyota thing. Even the 4Runner models, including the TRD Pro, don't really have good recovery hooks. They have loops that are located up under the front bumper on the radiator support, they're definitely not as beefy as something that you would find on a Jeep or like the ones on this Tremor. In my owner's manual, Toyota says that these are not recovery points, they are tie-down points. I bought some aftermarket front recovery points that are beefy and bolt to four different spots on the frame.
@whackityschmackitydo

@Steve-yr5vi
@Steve-yr5vi Год назад
@@trailrunnah8886 There is a reason Toyota does that; you can of course put tow hooks on however putting a tow hook on and you have a modified truck? So when you break something a dealer can say "this truck was modified beyond stock specs...." Toyota doesn't get their 2% better reliability rating by accident...What person in their right mind takes any truck without tow hooks on terrain where a wrongly placed wheel gets you stuck? No one does, and every Tundra owner with sense will put tow hooks on. But if they'd ask a good warranty lawyer, the lawyer would say go "sell the truck and buy one that has them stock".....

The TRD did better when Dad adjusted and took the same line as the Tremor. I would have went back to the Tremor and took both right lines to see if it got stuck and had to adjust the line or it may have dominated both lines?? The obvious issues were the absent tow hooks, absent locker in 4Hi, and fully exposed exhaust on the TRD! Thanks again 👏🏽👊🏽

Have to consider the water that the Tremor drug up onto the rocks may have caused the TRD to take an unexpected right line too. All in all I think they both had similar results. I bought aa used 2017 Titan 4x4 last year for $33K with 39k miles and had sticker shock as it was a base model S trim. Didnt have a backup cam, no power mirrors and vinyl flooring.. As I sit here a year later I am glad I still have a v8, not start stop, no sensors and extra crap.. the dealer did include a backup camera and had it installed to the stock display. Seems like auto start stop is hard to avoid lately and I wonder if v8 trucks are gona be phased out eventually. I was sad to see the titan is leaving the US market in a year or so but I love mine. I was initially looking for f150 or Ram but for the same price they were 2wd, more miles and in most cases has the naturally aspirated 3.3 v6 in Ford and 3.6 in ram which i was fine with but they were still stock vehicles also or maybe a trim level up. The titan kinda fell in my lap and i love it..

I was never a fan of the Titan, first the design and secondly it’s a Nissan, but I’ve got to say every single person I’ve talked to that has one absolutely love theirs, not a single negative comment, so I think it’s a awesome truck that Nissan had no ideal how to market it, was a big fan of the warrior concept vehicle, but honestly I’d have gotten a more basic package too cause it’s more affordable, my F150 STX is next to the bottom of Fords lineup and it’s been great. Hearing rumors the Titan will be gone soon and that’s sad for their faithful owners.

Thanks for the comparison Truck King. I feel like the Tremor looks more aggressive, and appeared to take the trails better.

Well thanks for answering my question lol. I was wondering if you could lock the rear diff on the new tundra in 4 high or even just regular two-wheel drive I guess they went to wrap a Nissan on a very good model to follow.

Good video. Ford all the way here. Looks, capability, comfort and did I mention looks? Lol. The Tundra’s looks are less than desirable in my opinion. There are my two cents. Thanks guys.

Agree, I think the tremor was the clear winner here. I really like that you can use the locker even in 2WD. I also think the Ford is a much cleaner looking exterior design. If it were my money, I don't think I would choose either one of these. If I remember correctly, the Silverado ZR2 is around the same price, I would choose that one with the 6.2 L. V8.

Good points. Toyota only lets you lock the rear in 4LO on the Tundra and Tacoma. Big fail on their part IMHO.

The Tremor now comes standard with the Coyote 5.0 V8. I like the simplicity and reliability of a tried and true V8 too.

@@Libertarian_Neighbor same here. I buy vehicles for the long haul, 150-200K miles at least. I’m not convinced a turbo will make it that long without major work.

@@scotw67 The hardest engine ford makes is the 2.7 ecoboost with the CGI engine block. ALL of the rest are aluminum block, even the 5.0 sadly.. If you're willing to replace the parts i bet you could easily get over 400k out of the 2.7.

The Tremor's is a far better looking, the skid plates on the Ford protect the front much better, the fords locker options are huge off road, and the lack of tow hooks is simply unforgivable.

at 4:00 the tremor went through that like butter, loved how the suspension took it all like it was nothing and kept the whole truck level. The TRD was stiff on the exit and just sloppy. I am impressed with the tremor. 12:00-14:00 the TRD just struggles to get started and gets stuck on exit....Tremor just breezed through the mudding without annoying beeping etc. The TRD again looking so stiff throughout!!! If the suspension was better maybe TRD could get traction, tuning issue? Fox shocks are great but looks like the Tremor is just overall tuned better.

toyota did wrong by putting that big ass stiff sway bar on it for high speed running that drastically limits its articulation. they should have done a sway bar disconnect. most guys in the tacoma offroad world like me just remove front sway bar alltogether and it makes a huge difference

I have a 2024 Tundra TRD Pro my biggest complaint is they should have put the 3 inch lift kit and 35 inch tires on it. Other than that its a fantasic truck.

Great comparison and video. I would say that although it's basically a draw, I do think the Tundra having to go second does put it at a slight disadvantage because the Ford messes up the ruts even more and makes the terrain ever so slightly worse for the Tundra. Just my perspective.

The no tow-hooks on an off-road edition seems pretty ridiculous. That said, I have a Toyota on order… (tacoma) in this current market of paying SRP it made the most sense and was actually about $2,500 cheaper than a similarly equipped ford ranger after everything.

@Jean Toronto Raptors And you’re stuck on “legendary Toyota reliability” when if you actually maintenance a vehicle correctly, they’ll last the same length of time. Enjoy the past dude.

@Jean Toronto Raptors Unless you’re really unlucky, it’s doubtful. Though anything made by FCA is definitely in the worst of quality so you’ve got a good point there. Aside from the looks, or having a full cab and full bed I don’t see any reason to choose the Tacoma over a Ranger, Colorado/Canyon, or even the new Frontier.
