The easiest way to find out if you have turn signal problems is just by tilting the steering wheel all the way up most of the time the turn signal wire will go back in place , the problem is the tab on the connector breaks over time thats why the wire comes out of place , and to remove the ignition key cylinder use a small screwdriver to push the pin up once you turn the key forward you will feel the pin go up then you just pull the key cylinder out.
That’s my problem as well. How did you fix it to keep it in place? When I drive it, I have to keep the steering wheel tilted up so I have turn signals.
Yep, this was my problem! Thank you for the information. My 2001 Expedition’s turn signals are fixed temporarily until I get home so I can tear it apart lol. For whoever is reading this in the future, I tilted my wheel all the way up in order to get the turn signals to work properly
Thank you for starting with the simplest thing to check to the more complicated. saved me some time on taking the whole thing apart, thank you very much
Thank you so much for making this video! I have my left rear brake/turn signal out (same year/model) and feel I’ve tried everything except this, so whether it solves my problem or not these videos are so helpful for so many, thank you for making it!
Thanks so much man! That fuse (13)(20a) under steering wheel fixed my problem it got my blinkers & brake lights working.. also your Ford has a lot of miles hopefully mines can last that long
Thanks for the video it really helped me out was having the same issue but with only the front driver side turn signal so I replaced the bulb thinking that was going to be it, I had even checked my fuses but all my fuses are still good not even the young kid at orielly’s could figure it out he kept telling me it was my light bulb that was busted I told him no I just replaced it and that it’s working just fine if it wasn’t for this video I’d still be scratching my head thanks again for making this video
We had big fires in the mountains around us , lots of ash in the air , turn signals quit a few weeks later. For me, unplugging the connectors Elec connector cleaner and lube , then plugging back in did it . Also used dielectric grease on the ignition switch body before reinstall . (Disconnect battery first , air bag sanger ) thanks for the video .
Thank you sir. Nice easy to understand human language no dealer b/s that you cant understand. Was exactly my problem,in my instance when i tilted the wheel down too far this connection loosened. What a crock piss poor design. Tilt er back a click your back in business Anybody with the no signal problem might want to tilt fwd before dissassembly ! As for me after pushing the connection together and re assembly I found tilting too far still caused the problem Hot glue might b just the trick, thanks again great info
Thank you for this video. I just bought a 2000 F150 and the blinkers did not work when I first tried them. I tilted the steering wheel up and now they work. Thanks to your video i now know how to take the covers off to find out what is going on.
Instead of going threw all that trouble trying to change those relays like that. You could just remove the two screws in front of that, which holds that bracket. Once they are removed that whole piece can be moved to the left. Much easier and less stressful. I’m working on a 2000 which has the same setup as your 02. Anyways thanks for the share, it did help a lot. I just wanted to add the additional information.
Thank you my friend! Exactly what my issue was. Checked the relay and fuses and the multi functional switch was recently changed too. Jiggled the plug and blinkers are back working!
@@bbbjim1fixedit I found it out after an hr of messing with it The bulb was not in all the way so it was only lighting the corner light and not the Turn signal
HUH, I guess where I re-flow the solder for the cluster this morning(ODO not lit up) some of the wires pulled slightly out of the plug. Pushed back in and hot glue. Everything works now.
Followed step by step but vehicle wouldn’t start up after reassembling. All other components worked but truck wouldn’t start. Could this be a problem with the ignition and key?
Sorry for the delay in responding, you may wish to look closer to a black ring around the part the lock assembly fits in. That reads the chip in the key and if it got bumped or moved too far away it won't read the key. I wish you the best on your repair
My driver side rear flasher did not working. Swap the bulbs swapped the fuses. The hazards work except for the rear driver side. The passenger front and rear flasher work and the driver side front flashes. Not sure what else it could be
@@bbbjim1fixedit I figured it out it was my old issue with the steering column and the connection inside the column. No my only issue is trying to figure out the the cluster lights I've checked all the fuses and that still is not working
My hazards and turn signals don’t work. They stopped working than started working after driving than stopped again and haven’t worked since any thoughts
you may wish to check your switch for continuity, find which connector where a white and red wire goes into the switch, and locate the light green and white, this should be your left turn and have a completed circuit when switched to turn left. If that is working you may wish to look closer at the flasher relay. I wish you the best on your repair
depending on your year you may wish to check the light blue wire coming into the multi function switch for power, that is the wire coming from your flasher. I wish you the best on your repair
I thought that a shorted wire was going to be the issue with the truck in this video, and was glad it was the connection. I wish you the best on your repair
What if only my left side works fine but only my front right one blinks an it blinks fast an my back one don’t work what could that be I replace the bulb an the fuse plz help
