How to replace the cabin vents that are prone to leak water on 2015-up Ford F-Series trucks. This can also apply to other brands, as all vehicles have vents and trucks mostly have them in the same spots.

My 19' SuperCrew Lariat had a leaking cab vent .It was made worse by a tonneau cover and the fact that my driveway had an incline.It was completely out at the top on passenger side.Had dealer replace them.I've always been concerned about them since but so far so good.Love your channel btw.

If those things are not sealed they can seriously flood one. I have seen some that were very, very wet because of a leaking cab vent

I went overkill on my fix...Been driving a 2019 Lariat Crew cab since 2021. Nothing but small issues. 1st and last time purchasing with an online auto dealer. (vroom) After I put an elbow on the AC drain to stop the wet passenger floorboard I noticed an inch or 2 of water sitting in the door channels both sides. I had a leak coming from the pressure vents. Another leak was coming in from the power sliding window. Was dealing with a random musty smell for a year before I took off the back insulation with the 3 plastic clips and rode thru the car wash that pulls your vehicle through. I took an old hose and 3m weatherstrip adhesive tube and sealed around the outside of the vents best I could with the limited space available between the bed and cab. After that I took the Flex Paste and loaded into caulk gun and sealed the gaps around the outside of the vents. I also did a bead on the flat parts where the water is supposed to runoff to the outside of the truck when the plastic flaps blow open. I used 1-1.75 tubes of the flex paste. So far so good with the flex paste fix. I left enough space for the air to open and close the flaps and manually pushed the flaps out to be sure they wouldn't be stuck closed. Getting the back glass replaced and resealed at the glass/body shop while typing. Flex paste and rear windshield replacement totaled about 430. The vents weren't expensive so I wanted to go that route, but each time I messed with the vents I didn't see how to get them out and sealed properly again without loosening the bed. **The replacement back glass does NOT include the power slide window. The owner of glass shop was telling me that he's seen every one leak that they install. I opted for the heated glass and no power window.

@@jasonbrushett2005first time I’ve went through the car wash without water coming in was today. I even asked the glass shop to put some extra sealer on the top and sides. So far so good.

I’ve wanted to change my back glass to a solid glass as well. I dealt with the sliding glass track coming loose. That’s a dumb design.

@bradbeam7254 I changed mine to a solid heated one.I do miss the ability to open/close it but I must say the solid glass gives much better visibility

Great video here. I am replacing these as I chase leaks that have ruined my carpet. Do you have any videos or solutions to the rear sliding window seal leaks? This is the major area that caused the leaking I have found after spraying with a hose. I can't find any viable solution other than put a solid window in.

That's about the only 100% fix. There is no way to do anything with the sliding window other than kick the can down the road a little bit. They will all eventually leak again

I believe the last one I did at the dealership was about $250-ish. Part price can vary.

Great video. Im trying to replace these on my 2011 F150 crew cab but am having trouble finding them. Do you get them anywhere specific? I realize it may just be that my truck is an older year.

9L3Z-15280B62-A is the part number I find for it online. I see many of them online and available. I always get mine at a local dealer I do work for, as that's usually where I am when I make these videos. But I've ordered online from places like Ford Parts Giant, and others as well

i can tell you all, this definitely does not work with the new f150's. At all.
@SealofPerfection
@SealofPerfection Месяц назад
It doesn't work with every F-150, as the space between the cab and the bed varies. But I just did one on a 23 2 weeks ago and it wasn't any worse than the one in this video. I do have a fix for this where you can kind of secure it in place instead of replacing it, just depends on what kind of shape the seal is in. If it's okay, that usually works.

@@SealofPerfection well you must’ve gotten lucky. My 23 is nowhere even close to the play yours has when you unclip it and pushed it in. Your whole grill pushes in almost past the edges of the main square hole. Mine is literally still a half inch in front of the hole and will not even go any further back to turn it and slide out. Your video looks like a breeze. This one is literally stuck not going back at all as soon as it’s unclipped on all 4 spots. It’s a nightmare. All clips are good, one of the louvers is gone, so yeah……it’s not even looking like an option for me this way. This is the drivers side. Would have to break it out in pieces but I’ll never ever get the new one in this way. Maybe warranty will help me if I take it in. Sucks because it’s so easy but not working. And I know how to work with these kind of things usually. It is not working at all.

@@jaybilawchuk2225 It wasn't easy. I push and flex the back of the cab to get that thing to move around enough so it'll come out and go back in. But I've had a couple that were just too tight, so had to have the shop get a tech to loosen the cab and slide it to get more room. Loosening the bed would be easier if they don't have bedliner sprayed in on top of the bolts. But if they do, it's too hard to get it off, easier to just loosen the cab. But since 2015, only had to have that done twice so far, so maybe yours is another one unfortunately. But it is definitely a tight fit regardless.
