Sure am! Long list of reasons. #1 - it is my truck and I can do what I want. #2 - This was an open diff 9inch with 28 spline axles #3 - has a 5x5.5 lug which would cause us to us different wheels from the front as they are now 5x114.3 #4 - Gained a "posi" I put it in " " as it is a factory posi loc setup that is ~OK~ #5 - Gained 31 splined axles #6 - Gained disc brakes for the rear to complement the front. #7 - Cost! - the cost of the 8.8 was $140. a built 9'' would cost quite a bit more. Yes, a built 9 inch will always be stronger then an 8.8. However, with the limited funds and time this was a great option to cover a lot of our needs. Additionally, I know I will not be able to launch the truck. The truck is not being built for that, I am building it to drive it. It will be used to drive around town and to have fun with.
Sure can, there are two ways of thinking here. One is that they are one time use bolts and you should buy new ones at the dealer. However. I am the type that went to a local junk yard and took the bolts from a car. If you are looking for new I am sure o could find the parts number with some time.
