Can we save the 1.0 ecoboost engine having suffered low oil pressure due to the wetbelt (cam belt) failing and blocking the oil pump. Or is it a new engine required?
The strip down and engine removal continues

Got a daft idea floating around... Get a spare sump, machine a panel and cover just underneath the oil pump gauze. Fit it. Then at oil change, take panel off, check for bits Ford..you can have that one for free

Good idea

Brilliant .. wish I could say that was my idea that 😬😬 Just bought a 2019 Ecosport St-Line 9000 miles 🤔🤔 Being prepped for collection in 4 days by Ford dealer … wish me luck .

Just another idea 🤔 say …Stupid … if you think it is … Would it be possible to put an Endoscope Camera in through the sump plug hole to inspect the pickup pipe and gauze filter ? I don’t know how close it is to the sump plug area. And if so and it’s looking blocked maybe put a thin air line in and blow or suck it clear /clean maybe followed by a flush ??

If the last suggestion is not possible how difficult would it be to remove the oil sump say every 25000 miles to inspect and clean something I would definitely consider 🤔🤔

I think the newer ones have a chain instead of a belt. Just not sure what year the change was.

Well done sofar !! Yes modern cars are ridiculously complex, i restored a 1972 Lotus Elan, wiring loom very simple, but i could never take on the job ur doing !!

I leave all the wiring on these engines when removing , find it easier to disconnect at the ecu end with a big plug and main battery lead , can get at all the plugs on the engine much easier when out

OK that's great advise and that's on the ecoboost? . Is the ecu near the battery box. If so I might follow that tip when rebuilding.

@@vintagesteelgarage yes ecoboost done 2 focus engines recently ecu is in a box near the n/s/f wheel on them

Another reason why not to buy an ecoboost engined Ford...Mate , you are a Saint!! I bet off camera there was a lot of "Effs" , " Bees" and "Cees" in the vocabulary. Those blithering idiots who designed and built this monstrosity need a boot up their backsides .!!!!! Stupidity must be a virtue in their cases. You're doing a sterling job Mate 👏 👍

Oh there was lots of swearing off camera. I truly belove it's made so it's main dealer only for work.

I wouldn't mind betting that even the Ford trained dealer mechanics hate the sight of those ecoburst engines. I nearly bought one but went for a Mazda 2 1.5 Skyactive 115 bhp ..no turbo and timing chain driven !!

Cracking work to get that out. Modern engines I guess are more reliable, but plugs and points etc were easy and if you new how to set up it was reliable too. Have we really progressed? Looking forward to the next installment . Thankyou.

I was only thinking that the other day. Although new cars are more complicated we now get 100 bhp out of a 3 cylinder 1.0 l engine and 50 mpg with very little maintenance.

This is not an easy engine to work on. Good work anyway. I was hoping to see the crankshaft bolt being removed in a home garage, but there doesnt seem to be any video. was any recorded

I did strip to block but then rebuilt to part ex as a core block. You can buy crank and bearings but no one will tell you the torque for mains and big end bearings.

Probably about 8 hours. With 4 swearing at electrical connectors.

All that work just because some idiot's thought a wet cambelt was a good idea i my opinion thay should have had a chain to run the oil pump you wouldn't ever need a tensioner as the chain would be short my skoda felicia engine as no tensioner on it to drive the crankshaft and camshaft which works fine then thay should of had a belt on the outside with a simple cover like ford did on the cvh engine many years ago thay were really easy to change a belt on could do one in half hour or ever better use the old ford push rod engine which never when wrong or i can't remember one going wrong we need them engineers out of retirement

just had my belts done cost a fortune.. now it wont boost.. vacuume at waste gate vacuum at pump vacuum on end of solenoid notice the wastegate rod gitters when engine running.. im praying its a goosed solenoid valve.. changed the little vale on the pump as it was broken.. help... lol
@vintagesteelgarage
@vintagesteelgarage Год назад
Do you have any fault codes on a OBDII reader? could be the waste gate not fully shutting therefore not let boost develop. maybe you can adjust the the rod on the waste gate actuator to hold it shut?
@stevenfox8640
@stevenfox8640 Год назад
@@vintagesteelgaragethink it’s the vaccum solenoid. Keeping it closed produced an over boost condition.

If you remove the oil cap, can you see if the belt is still intact or worn out?
@vintagesteelgarage
@vintagesteelgarage 3 месяца назад
You. Can't see the belt condition but you. Can check. It's not snapped.. If you put the car in gear and rock it you will see the camshaft move.
