FORD FOCUS MK3 RADIATOR SHUTTER REPLACEMENT REMOVAL. ACTIVE GRILLE SHUTTER
If you need to remove the radiator shutter / active grille shutter or replace the radiator shutter / active grille shutter on Ford Focus MK3 third generation we will show you how to do that. If the radiator shutter is not working your car may consume more gas, the car may even overheat and you can often have the engine light on. In this video we will demonstrate how to remove or replace the radiator shutter on a 2013 Ford Focus but the procedure to remove and replace the radiator shutter should apply to the whole first generation Ford Focus.

A few points. 1. Great video. Well done. I learned a lot. 2. Your comment toward the end suggesting the shutters can be replaced without removing the radiator is correct. 3. If you do the job without removing the radiator, getting the old set of shutters out may be the hard part. In my case the shutters were severely damaged, so I took the old part out in multiple pieces. Use your imagination on how to cut, break, and otherwise make a damaged part more damaged. 4. To get a better view of the mounts on the sides of the radiator, I removed both headlights. 5. Inserting the new part is a tight fit with the radiator still in the car. To get a bit more room I used tinsnips to remove about 15mm from corners of the semi-circular "flange" at the top of the new part. 6. I contemplated removing the lower radiator mount to get more room by allowing the bottom of the radiator to move backward an inch or two without removing any of the hoses, but ultimately this was not necessary. There are only 4 bolts holding the bottom radiator mount in place so taking this step may be a timesaver. 7. The video shows a process that is far from trivial. Doing the job with the radiator in the car saves the need to drain and refill the radiator but is similarly non-trivial. Again, Thanks for the video. T

That’s second connected you unclipped on top of the radiator shudder connector. What does that go to?

Is the active grill shutter just that plastic part covering the radiator? I've got a fault code saying active grill shutter is stuck. My temp gauge is taking a while to heat up probably because of that.
