I've used You tube for a lot of repairs, I've changed the manifold on our mountaineer w you tube. I thought the spark plug replacement on my 06 zephyr would be too much, got two ridiculous quotes, I can do this. Folks, thank you so much. You are good people and you are a great trainer. Thank you Thank you One suggestion, if you are going to do this, maybe consider going ahead and changing out those back coil packs, if the car has over 100K...... God bless you good people...
Chevy is consistent and they find something that works and they produce the hell out of it and people love it. They tend to produce a quality product when they have the finances to do so and the market is appropriate for moving a quality product. Chrysler sells on flash and numbers. You can have a Chrysler that is gorgeous and geometrically poetic in weight distribution and the top #'s in class for torque and HP, but come in last place in a real world test and depreciate fast due to failures.
Just bought the parts to do the 100K service on my 2006 Lincoln Zephyr over Xmas break. This video popped up on my RU-vid feed. Early Xmas present. Quality video. Thank you!
I can't count how many times I've left screwdrivers and extensions on the windshield wiper linkage cover. Good thing I only work on my on vehicles. Your videos are always cool to watch.
I did one of those for free for a local family with a disabled daughter. I do the back three from underneath. You have to wait for it to cool down because you'll be working around the catalytic converter, but it's really not that bad.
After my mechanic showed no interest of doing a tuneup on my 2006 V6 Fusion I took the challenge and did it myself in 3 hrs taking my time work. My car now runs like a clock and it's rendering 10.7l/100km (hyw) compared to 12.7l/100km before the tuneup. Thanks for your help mate, I do appreciate it.
Greetings from Mexico City. I saw your video and I think instructive as it has been a martyrdom reach the three spark plugs in the rear. I have a 2006 ford fusion and this video shows the quality of the expert. Greetings again.
I have a Craftsman cordless impact that I bought primarily for doing framing and wood work. But I have to agree with your statement, I love mine also. i use it for lots of automotive repairs. It's quiet, with a lithium battery it can easily do multiple jobs without having to recharge, and it is also very fast. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks for the video!! My car had 143,400 miles on it . First time changing the plugs. You made it easy for me. Was not as bad as I thought it would be. Took about 2 hrs. You did a great job showing how to do it.
i am having this done tomorrow and i hope they know to do all of this. I have a v6 2006 Ford Fusion and it has the same spark plugs it had once it came from the manufacturer, Oh yes i am so ashamed. It would be nice to have you in Albany, Georgia. Very educated and knowledgeable. I just got a throttle body replaced and upper hose at 562.00.
If the boots aren't bad due to being cooked, rust enfused, or etc. I just dielectric grease them and continue the legacy. Glad that worked out for you!
I've owned 6 Fords , 3 Fiats, 1 Chevrolet, 1AMC (Gremlin) 2 Plymouths , 1 Buick...they all have crap features. It seems as though they were all designed by Auto Parts salesmen and Service managers. Out of all of them, I liked my 1981 F-150 pickup the most. I drove it for 13 years. I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
Completed this on my Zephyr today, this vid did made it is. Thank you again..... Had two quotes, one replacing the coils on the back cylinders (according to the mechanic, might as well change them out while we have the plenum off) 650.00. Another just changing the plugs, 250.00. This cost me 45.00. Do the math... Bought a 90 degree set of pliers, that really helped. Again, THANK YOU..
I wish you were my mechanic. Awesome tutorial I'm at 150k on my fusion 3.0L with no idea if the plugs were changed at 100k as was supposed to have been done. I am considering doing this but most of my experience is with cars from the 90s and earlier. Luckily RU-vid exists for this kinda of thing. This job does look like a total PITA. Thanks for the detailed instructions!
Interesting insight. I once owned a Ford Aspire- LOVED IT! but it was cheaply made... by Kia. I bought it for $500 and drove it while the police tried to find my stolen Honda. I wanted to by the new Fiesta because of the Ken Block factor, but stopped myself in sticker shock.
You just saved me a ton of cash. I do all my own work on my mustang and my fiesta. A lil tune up like this shouldn’t be too hard. Just a few extra steps. But for a guy like me, no problem. Thanks again
Thank you so much for this. I had to get my PCM repaired and all coils/plugs changed. I did the installation myself...2 hrs later I was back on the road. Easy peasy!! :-)
Thank you so much for sharing this. Was worried about having to do this and what was involved. All went great and I saved a lot of money doing it myself. Now I don't have to worry about it for a while. Thank you !!!
Hey Brian, I've got a 2006 Fusion V6 and it needs to have the spark plugs changed soon. This video will definitely be used as a reference when I get around to doing it. Thanks!
lol! I'm not too worried about being liked. I've learned to love myself a long time ago. I always have a friend in me! Once you love yourself just fine- it's a lot easier to love everyone else too.
First off sick hat! Representing for the mullisha! Second great video very detailed! Thank bro much respect. I'll search for your videos only as I really appreciate the way you explain everything
The philosophy with Ford is to make a car affordable and try to add all the bells and whistles you possible can without increasing it's cost above what a company budgets for a fleet vehicle or a low to mid income home can afford. Adding complexity without the budget for doing it right has some pretty obvious outcomes. I've seen Ford Explorer Limited editions with more than 80 buttons within reach of the drivers seat. Even the visor had buttons all over it.
They say that because people inevitably use way to much and then over torque due to the lubrication and strip the head out or do other damage. The irony in that to me is the damage and stripped heads that are as likely to happen from NOT using it. I've used it for decades incident free and I find my customers won't go anywhere else so I wind up doing myself and them a favor by using it.
I do have to say that doing tune up is piece of cake on corresponding J-series Honda V6 engine. Apart from taking off beauty covers (less 30 seconds), nothing else needs to come off to access coil and plugs. On the other hand, if you need to do EGR passageway cleanup and take off the intake plenum on that Honda, it is more work but still little easier than this job.
friend good afternoon , I'm from Brazil and I have a fusion v6 2010 model year 2 generation and was eager to change the spark plugs of the ship, and seeing you make the trade will now be able to perform alone , thanks for the video.
one of my coils died and it damaged the pcm. had to send in to Circuit Board Medics to get it repaired before I changed the coils. Fairly simple job to do. PCM is located under the battery tray.
Ronie Ochoa 2007. It was the PCM. My mechanic found me a used one, and his buddy that works for Ford brought his laptop with the mapping software, and recoded my fob keys. $400... I gladly paid. Ford wanted $1500 If I remember correctly...
Mister Wirez I paid $299 for Circuit Board Medics to fix my PCM. I also found a deal on eBay for 6 new Motor Craft plugs and 6 ADP Coil Packs all for $125. good thing about getting it repaired is that there is no programming.
Remember that most of the engine parts are not made by Ford. Most are made by OEM's like Valeo, who make the same parts for so many other manufacturers. That air inlet filter is almost the same part on my VW, just different enough so that you cannot interchange them. When I was driving a Ford the cheapest place to buy wiper blades and the best value was at VW agents, twice the quality and half the price.
I paid less than $150 with three batteries for that little gem! On a full battery, if you have the guts, it will take off a lug nut off a Honda! Every mechanic and a DIY should own one.
Dude i work for Gm, they all ready opened a lawsuit about the Dexcool, which is for lower intake gaskets and other related engine dmg, sludging, ect... over heat an engine there goes head gaskets, rocker arm stud's is only from a "local" mechanic not using a torque wrench, i have personaly done well over 250 of thes engines lower intakes/head gaskets torque the rocker arms to specs, make sure you clean the oil out of the bolt hole and blow it out good, you will never have an issue.
Fords sell. They do well at that. Chrysler struggles to get repeat business. GM damaged their reputation through the turn of the century and have been struggling since. Poor Chrysler gets bought and sold and restructured all the time. The big three have different business strategies and some work better than others in the long run. Ford makes money by being nimble and responsive to markets. This makes for a lot of design changes mid year without testing or QA work.
Brain, since I have been watching your videos it became obvious that you are extremely knowledgeable about cars so I had a question.... Is there all that much benefit to adding a strut tower bar/brace to a vehicle?
I'll have to agree with how you describe Fords...I have a 2012 Fiesta and yes I got a lot of features and value for my money, but build quality leaves something to be desired. At 20k miles the interior is a chorus of squeaks and rattles, and I already had a wheel bearing replaced under warranty (as well as other minor issues). I think my next car will be back to Subaru. Funny that I bought the Fiesta expecting quality European engineering to come through....
Ha! I found a brand new pair of those $nap-On 90° 'stork' pliers under the hood of a car just yesterday! My customer was with me at the time, and I offered then to her... but she just scrunched her nose and said 'yuck'. Your right, the 90° ones are indispensable... I have a shorter 'intermediate' pair as well; just the thing now and again.
There is a tool that has a 9 volt battery on one end and the other end plugs into cigarett lighter it holds the memory in the computer when you disconnect the battery.every parts store carrys them.
I think the secret with Ford is that their engineers can't figure out how to cram parts together without doing dumb stuff. All those vehicles have a nice amount of space under the hood. :) Doesn't come as a surprise to me--the Asian companies are experienced at building small cars (and when hey have extra space, they literally just leave holes--I could fit my head between the engine and firewall on my zero-option corolla), but Ford et al. are big car companies.
I had 143,400 first time and the car was still running fine but I thought it was time to do it before it was to late and good thing the plugs had a gap of .077 should be .052 to .056
Yu are a good mechanic I watch a lot of people on here work on cars Yu are bye fare the best so far I see thumbs up I'm a back yard mechanic an I hate Subarus lol I work on ford an Chevy an Dodge no turd China junks allowed in my garage lol keep up the good work
The car handles, brakes, and shifts beautifully and is a lot of fun and efficient. It feels like a German car from a driving standpoint, very sharp and fun to drive. Love the styling and feature content, and was only about $16k, so a good value for money. But as I said, the rattles and such are terrible.
