Ford doesn't care if the dealer actually sells it to a customer, only that the dealership buys the truck from them. After than it is the dealer's problem. Our local dealer still has 2023 lightnings and mustang evs.

I am planning on buying a Lightening. It will serve double duty as a home battery backup for an off grid solar system. The 131 kWh battery is the equivalent of $35,000:of home batteries and if I ever run out of batteries in a cloudy stretch of weather I will just run into town and recharge there, giving me another 3 or 4 days worth of electricity. Given that it serves to replace $35,000 worth of batteries, I am thinking it is like getting a truck for $35,000 less than what I pay the Ford Dealer for the truck.

Don't forget it's over 6000 lbs so you can take full depreciation from your taxable income if it's for business use. That stacks with $7500 federal tax credit (if you qualify). So it's a triple play, reducing taxes, getting power backup and getting a reasonably "efficient" truck to use (compare to 15 mpg ICE trucks).

I do have an ER in case I do need to do 1000+ mile trips. So far this vehicle is way cheaper then a ICE F-150. No MX and fuel costs. People don't understand the EV, this is why they are not selling. Also the dealerships will not get as much money for the MX, no incentive. Adding a range extender will make the Lightning unstoppable.

I have both a 23 lighting (small battery, 2 years and 30k) and a foundation CT (4 months and 10k duel motor) both are work trucks doing residential construction. In the past 30 years I've used everything from 4x4 sprinters, f350, 2500 Rams and even a UD flatbed. The first thing I will say is both the Ford and the Tesla are the cheapest trucks to operate and the most reliable and best to drive. Here are the issues with the Ford that are most likely hurting sales. 1. The Dealers don't want to have anything to do with them... no recurring service charges and no internal expertise so why bother? 2. No charging networks (non Tesla) that work. I just drove from Athens GA to Cincinnati OH in the CT in 9 hours, about the same as my old sprinter. 95% FSD. I did the same trip in the ford and it was 14 hours... never again. 3. The charging port is on the wrong side to work on tesla chargers even with the NACS adapter... forces you to use 2 spaces. 4. UI is terrible. 5. NO over the air updates. 6. US media negativity paints a bad picture of all EVs as expensive, limited, and dangerous. Most truck buyers are invested in the ICE rumble and what they "know"....so why take a chance if it's "BAD". 7. Education. Most of us here in the US are clueless about the efficacy of owning an EV. Truck buyers are that times 10 because the traditional image ( most don't actually use their trucks for work). Even the folks terrified of climate change say things like "the grid cant take it" or "I hate Elon" and buy hybrids to signal their virtue and save a few bucks. They are clueless or convinced of some impediment that is usually not real, to buy any EV. 8. No EV sex appeal, nothing special looks like ICE to most people, not a rivian or CT. So I don't believe the 150 KW speed is that big a deal as I have a older tesla that maxes at about that and I would drive it across country tomorrow. The ford has the most "cushy" ride of any truck and even with the small battery I can beat the stated range by 20%. so for what I do it's a perfect truck, 30k cost under 7 cents a mile total cost outside insurance which has been equal to ICE. Considering you can buy my truck for 40k it's a bargain. The folks in the trade, farmers and ranchers that I let use the ford come back converts...Cost, ride quality and torque win them. They have no Idea that something like this even existed, (see number 6 and 7) There is NO comparison between the two , The CT wins on all accounts except for the conversation factor which is a negative if you work. I just went to the dump towing a dump trailer and spent 30 minutes talking Cyber speak. In the ford no one knows its an EV until I open the frunk ;-)

I have a sale pending for a brand new Flash trim (with max tow package and 9.6kW pro power onboard) for *$49,840* plus tax after all the incentives they are offering, and this is in a state with no state incentives. Plus it comes with 0% APR for 5 years. The Cybertruck is more than $30,000 more expensive. Try finding a gas F-150 with heated steering wheel for under $50,000. Cheaper than gas! Fords aren't selling because the car buying experience at dealerships is ATROCIOUS. I went in to take delivery of mine and got the bait and switch (agreed upon price wasn't available when I got there). Probably wasn't intentional, but it was an inconvenience, because then I had to find another truck and get it delivered. Then the delivery was delayed. Then when it arrived, it had a dent on it. Now they have to MAYBE do a paintless dent repair, if not it has to to go to the body shop (no thanks). I hopefully will get mine Monday. If it's not ready, I'm going with a 2 year lease on a Kia EV9. Charging speed isn't terrible on Lightning, it's a slow max of 150kW (you get a boost near the beginning that goes slightly higher), but it holds that 150kW up to 80%. My 2018 Model 3 starts tapering to under 150kW by around 45% (newer batteries are even worse). It's not worth it to charge Teslas to 80% at superchargers because you're down to around 60kW by then. Lightning will keep chugging 150kW at 80%, then it plummets to around Tesla speed beyond that. So if you go deep (which you do when towing), the F-150 Lightning isn't bad. It's a good value relative to other trucks. It's just not the best in class.

IMHO it’s trust. Ford has a lot of quality issues with their ICE vehicles. They’re also relatively new to EV, dealers and mechanics are scared of them. Ford got started too late into EVs, they should have slowly built up their products so that the ford infrastructure could adapt. They need to get out from under the mountain of 3rd party partners and suppliers and into efficient integration of EV modules. It wouldn’t hurt if they were more open about the software/protocols used so that the vehicles would be easier to diagnose and repair.

Around here, we can't touch one for under $70,000, they have no base models, nothing to get people to really take the plunge. I've driven them, they ride amazingly, but the barrier to entry is pretty high. Plus when you add in the fact that to really use any kind of level 2 charger you'll have to invest in getting some 220 lines run to your garage, that's going to jack the price even higher. My son bought and XLT lightning in the third quarter . The dealership really wanted him to buy a lease which he did not want . Not sure why they were pushing the lease . He drives to many miles to make that practical . He could drive a bit over a 100 miles a day when working . Charges at work and home ( with solar ) so charging speed is not a factor . He does have the standard range . He really doesn't want to take it on long trips which is the Achilles heal of the truck . Now he drove to LAX airport to go on vacation for a week . The extended parking came with level 2 charging that he leaves plugged in while he is parked and will have a 100 percent charge when he gets back to drive home which is very cool . I think what you can compare the Ford lightning standard range to is driving with a half tank of gasoline . So that's the mindset you have to have to deal with . The truck on all other points is fantastic. Maybe up to 150 mile per day range . Short tows . If your in that type lifestyle it's a very good deal . I think Ford does not want to allow high dc fast charging to preserve the battery life

The Lightning sales are up 111% from Q3 2023. The $22500 the dealers would get is not per vehicle. They get 1000 for the first 9 sales and 1500 for the next 4. It's like you spent zero time actually understanding this simple dealer incentive. Ford is paying $1k / truck (1-9) to the dealer as a sales incentive to dealers if they can sell trucks from their premanufactured pool. The bonus goes up the $1500 / truck (10-15). The total maximum bonus to the dealer is $22,500 if they can sell 15 lightnings. Frankly that's nothing in the big scheme of sales incentives. I have a 2023 Lightning Lariat that I bought back in Feb 24 and I love it. After incentives and rebates my I paid ~$57k which replaced my 2014 RAM1500 Laramie Longhorn. I loved my RAM, but frankly the only advantage it has over the Lightning is range/towing range. The Lightning is faster, quieter, tows better, and is far cheaper to operate ($/mile). The 240v output is an awesome solution for home backup during emergencies. My Ram could only tow ~7.5k lbs, but I can easily tow 10k lbs with the Lightning. I get that range is a thing, but frankly how many half ton pick up buyers are towing daily for >130 miles / day (~47k miles / yr) or driving more than 260 miles/day (90k miles / yr)? It's very easy to hit these ranges (100% charge) with only overnight charging at home. My 80amp charger (~17kw) can go 0-100% in ~7.5hr or 0-80% at a high speed charger in ~40 minutes. For sure if you're going to use the truck for road tripping constantly then this is not the vehicle for you. I frankly think a 500 mile / day is no big deal but 1000 would be tedious because that would require 4 or more charging stops. The GM Silverado EV is cool and has massive range with its 200kwh pack, but it it's way more expensive than F150. It's realistic to get into a Lightning Pro for $50k and the GM products don't get below $90k. The $80k price point is critical, because of Fed and state $7500 rebates. GM can't get to that price because of the battery cost so you have to really want the big battery.

The problem with the F150 Lightning is that it is not really a work truck. Its range when towing is abysmal, because of its weight it eats up tires, and insurance is costly. @@ImLivinSD What jobs or industry needs a truck that has to tow more than 8,000lbs and tow that more than 150 miles a day? I guess down there in the Outback, you might have to drive more than 100 miles one way to a job. May as well get an Aptera and run on the sun. But in SoCal, there are plenty of chargers. It's just always going to be cheaper to buy a beater truck to start a business. New work trucks in general are more rare. Not sure what you're talking about. We introduced a lightning to our fleet and it's the best 1/2 ton ever. It tows better than any of our ICE half tons, we store and charge our tools in the huge frunk so our bed can stay empty to haul materials. We power entire job sites with propower outlets. Like most contractors, we rarely leave the city and are always under 100 miles per day. We have no gas stations to ever waste our time at. Just plug it in at the end of the day and you start full again in the morning at 1/5th the cost. No down time for oil changes either. We expect to save 10k/year over our ICE trucks. The lighting is also solid, Fully boxed steel frame and heavy steel skid plates from front to back. No way you are damaging the battery. We do not baby it. You don't have to like EV's but stop spreading FUD on something you clearly know nothing about. We are so surprisingly impressed with the lightning that all our future work trucks will be EV's from here on out.

I think you need to fact check a bit more before making videos like this - it's a bit FUD-ish. Your sales figures are incorrect. for example (it's about 7000 for Q3 - google it, well over 100% increase in sales from the previous year). Glossed over quickly was that the $22500 was for FIFTEEN vehicles sold, not 1. Plus, it's a promotion for their redistribution centres to get the vehicles to the customers quicker instead of the older process. As for slow charging, that is something that would be nice to have, but at least here in Australia, the charging infrastructure in the regions generally does not push the Lightning too much. For example, the Yurika network is well under. The NRMA charger at Nanango got close. About the only one I've had so far that pushed it was the Evie charger in north Toowoomba. Yes, I am in Australia and own a F150 Lightning and it's awesome.

And if this belt snap, engine get converted to a useless metal block in seconds. A lot of other issues, like the exhaust valves.
