Ford Ranger Raptor: Pick-up perfection

Have my RR for 2 years now 23k on the clock still love it, driving for 50 years most satisfying vehicle I have ever owned. Traded a 2019 E400 for it. Don't miss the Merc at all!

This is actually how I wanted a review of it. Can I fit the kids. Does it drive well. Do I get a silly noise that makes me giggle when I put it into sport mode. Most men are too precious and have to grrr, spit and scratch their balls when reviewing a car despite never using any of them for how they were intended. Ford have made a more road focused pickup and she has reviewed it as intended. (just my humble O).

I've got a Raptor and absolutely love it. Had Landcruiser utes and a hilux 4x2. But the raptor is a pleasure to drive and ride quality is like a sedan. No complaints fords hit the nail on the head with this one.

I sat in a regular Ranger here in the US. I was way disappointed at how narrow the seating area was. Nissan and Chevy were way roomier.

Well boys and girls, go drive one!!! I've run Toyotas, Dodges and Fords in Canada. I had a logging buisness and used my trucks to the point of bending frames and replacing many transmissions. I was also a weekend warrior deep in the woods with quads and cut apart VW Beetles, shortened of course. For twenty years I now live in German doing IT work. I'll retire in the next 10 years and it is time to have my retirement vehicle in my yard. I've been afoot driving Nissan, Mitubishi, Toyota, and VW offerings. Amaroks set the price bar to that of a Raptor here in Germany. Yes, on paper the Raptor the Raptor will not make you smile but like Rebecca and I that vehicle will put a silly little smile on your face every day you sit up in it. Beautifully well done FORD!! For a retired Canadian Logger Boy living in Germany you have hit the nail on the head. The FORD Raptor has become my dream truck!!!!!

This thing is missing a few hundreds. 300 kg extra payload, 200 kg extra towing and 100 hp extra power. Missing a sunroof too.

What is she on about, I don't want to know how the Raptor works as a family car, I want to see it off road. I want to know if the back is long enough to put my MX bike in, or what it's like on a muddy field and snow.

Is the interior width the same as normal Ranger? Ranger is cramped compared to Amarok, so was the Hilux.

So many people missing the point of this, it’s different, appeals to a different market and is far better at certain things than other pickups. It’s not the fastest pickup by any means but when can you safely drive a 2.5t vehicle fast in the uk or anywhere else? Give it a couple of years and all vehicles are going to be automatically restricted to the national speed limit anyway, at least in a raptor you will be doing it in style, comfort and in something other than a boring estate or saloon!

Well! I WAS gonna buy one in july/August "but I guess not now" that review has put me off completely (we need a petrol/diesel head to do a review on it) 🤦🏼‍♂️😂

0:40 - I'd hardly call it a "high performance" anything. 0-60 in over 10 seconds? There's a reason why things like this in the USA are fitted with V6 Turbos and V8 engines. Having the aerodynamics of a small potting shed doesn't matter when you're rocking 400bhp, but it's kinda important when you've only got 200 fairly lazy ponies. That aside, I think it's a nice looking truck and I bet it's comfortable, safe and pleasant to own. I do think it's drastically overpriced at 40k, though. and to be honest anyone wanting it enough to spend 40k on it probably would be willing to put up with the fuel consumption of a decent V6 engine in exchange for good performance and a nice sound track.

It has a great gearbox from the F150 just not so great an engine, 2L bi turbo diesel ? As a ranger owner I can honest, say nice looking truck but no way a raptor ! Leave that title to the F150 this one should be called urban sport. “It’s no Raptor & it takes more than Fox shocks to do that!”

Rebecca can make anything look good, unfortunately when you look at the stats the VW Amarok with 258 BHP blows the Raptor away

This review totally missed the point of the car! The short comings of the car are for a reason, it's not built to be a full on heavy duty work vehicle it's built to be a seriously fun & capable off roader which has been pretty much missed here! While it's not got sports car power which is silly to compare and not what they were trying to build, it's has plenty of pull and goes real well and definitely fast enough to have a hell of a lot of fun in! Also no mention of the ride quality, it's probably the smoothest ride you will get out of any off road vehicle! So those who are looking for a fun/work 4x4 and not needing to tow 3.5t and how many actually do? Will really enjoy the quiet but pretty quick engine, very smooth gear changes & very comfortable ride that you would only get in a family style car and still struggle to find one that matches the ride quality! CarGurus missed a trick there.... This thing is mental off-road! So while it is fine as a daily driver, if you only buy it for that then you are doing yourself and this vehicle a huge disservice!

210 hp? that's only 50 more than my 1993 Ranger STX. Not a huge difference over 26 years....

I just looked at a ford dealership in the UK and they had the top model raptor at 36,000 pounds plus the communist tax. The 4wd supercrew XLT model with no bed liner, no leather, and one y clinder gas motor option with far less torq than the raptor, cost more in the USA than the top of the line Raptor models in UK and even bigger difference in Asia. Wondering why its all more in america than rest of the world? I thought Europe would be priced more the same as in America, but not the case. F 150 Raptors in USA are in the 80k US dollar range. The top model Ranger we have is the Lariat and it is still the same 4 cylinder motor, this is only model that has leather for us in America. THose model rangers are in the mid 40's US dollars.

2.0 engine... No thanks 3.2 was one of the best engines Ford ever made for a medium pickup, for towing, off road and they are bomb proof..
