Does the new Bronco Raptor live up to the standard set by the F-150 Raptor? We put them both through our rigorous off-road tests to find out. Tell us what you think.
The hillclimb really got me, 4 high, lost traction, oh, 4 low with no other changes will make me get up! Tell me you don't know about off roading without telling me you don't know about off roading... Edit, plus the thumbs in the steering wheel on the high speed stuff 😬
I dont drive off road very often, maybe a gravel road? So I dont know much about driving off road but I felt like this video was more about you learning the controls of these cars more than the cars being able to go up the hill or on the steps. It was more watching the reviewer learning than it was about the fords and their abilities seems like you got a lot better at working the cars over the video for sure.
I'm looking forward to the Ranger Raptor. It *should* be the goldilocks Raptor between the three. Plenty of off-road ability for most people, with all the stability and utility of a truck, but without the size penalty of the gigantic f150.
Why would you put the new Bronco Raptor and Rapror Truck through tests that do not show their capability and strengths? These are not Jeeps.....why are you comparing them to a Jeeps strengths. Have you tried to run a wrangler at the speeds the Raptors can haul your ass through the desert? Don't try it you'll go end over end in the whoops with the Jeep. Your bias here sucks!
I’m fortunate to own both a f-150 raptor and a new bronco, and IMO the value of the Bronco Raptor isn’t there. For the price, which in todays market includes markups, the F150 version is just better overall value. Having the truck bed, higher towing rating, greater passenger space and cooled seats ;) makes it better IMO. Its also basically cheaper when you compare todays markups. All that being said, I would still buy a raptor bronco over a normal bronco because the drive line matches the F-150 on wear components, which makes repairing and replacing it so much easier for us right now.
You are greatly undervaluing the size penalty of the f150. Doesn't fit in a standard garage, doesn't fit in a standard sized parking spot, doesn't fit down a lot of Jeep trails, etc. You're essentially just saying it's better because it's a truck, without taking into account that many - if not most - don't actually need a truck.
@@mechmat12345 I actually own both a Bronco and a F-150 raptor, and I’m helping to design a new LT system for the bronco right now. I daily both in LA, so I understand small garages and parking spots, and if the Raptor F-150 can fit in my tiny LA garage it can fit anywhere lol. The F-150 & Bronco raptors are similar in width, I would say there is no penalty for the size, its more like a reward. The bed space and cab space is far superior in the F-150, and the F-150 drives better because its longer and reduces the sway from the 5 link. If you get the opportunity to drive or own both off road you’ll see why its such a better value in todays market.
35- 45 mph down the whoops for 100K. man.. considering how bashed up my old RZRs get going off road at speeds higher than that, I would be freaking out about hitting a big pump or whoop in those heavy beasts. 5500lbs slamming into an unsuspected rain rut. Ouch.
Attended a bronco offrodeo and off-roader ours and have found trail turn assist to be very damaging to local trails. When it drags the tire, it digs a pretty big hole after using it a couple times on the trail.
I have it on my Jeep thanks to the Tazer but yeah. The tests I have done just proves to not use it. Problem is because it locks in the inner tire the differential doubles the speed of the outside tire really digging in but because the rear tires turn radius is far less than the front it really is closer to 4 times the speed of the front tires. I hope Jeep and ford on the next go actually unhooks the rear wheels and line locks them to do a true dig. Just dragging the rear does not do much damage. Spinning the hell out of the rear does.
There are many videos of the Bronco Raptor doing just fine and performing better than portrayed here. However, it seems the other videos have better drivers and give a true non-bias review.
Not sure why you would compare straight axel articulation on wrangler versus independent front suspension on bronco, different set up for different applications.
I think you are pretty silly considering the Bronco and the F-150 both have different suspension than the jeeps which have solid suspension and the Fords have independent suspensions and your test has nothing to do with hightspeed driving
Should have included more high speed stuff but the stock Bronco Raptor will chase a stock Wrangler up any trail/obstacle it can find, and the Wrangler will need a lot more than a basic lift and tires to find a place the stock BRaptor cant follow.
Raptor is the 'performance' version comparable to SS? Not, you know, AT4 or ZR2? Credibility loss. Not seen on a race track? Does Baja racing somehow not count? Credibility loss. Is this really the state of automobile journalism now? At least you had fun, and that's what matters, right?
Can’t wait to see how the new ranger raptor compares. I’d love a Bronco but I’d like to be able to bring my dirtbikes around too so the truck is better. The F150 is just huge and more expensive. I live in Europe too so assuming I could get one the size is a factor unfortunately. The Bronco’s styling is so cool though.
This guy just said the 150 raptor only made it to the third step... but it was clearly on the top of the step? Am I missing something here? Also desert run you stated you could go faster in the pickup but it was fun enough at 50mph, and then in the bronco you say you can go faster than the pickup... this channel is full of contradictory statements
You are exactly right..Edmonds ALWAYS down grades any Ford..I'm like you I've seen at least 6 heavy Duty off road rock crawls, mud, snow ect..that's exactly the reason the Bronco has taken 24% of sales of Jeep!! I'm telling you if Edmonds keeps up with the bias the channel will be gone that's the truth
So just recently bought a MachE. The Sunrise Ford dealer without informing me added modifications to the car before I picked up, and forced me to to either pay additional thousands of dollars for it or cancel the order after I waited over 8 months for my order. Totally unethical greedy tactic, yeah I say get rid of the dealers.
You need just enjoy what you have that's american brand just ne thankful that you can drive any cars you all cars have pros and cons as a driver it's up to us.
I thought Ford's performance brand was "SVT"?... Is it no more?... I liked SVT branded vehicles!... My dad had a Mustang SVT Cobra when I was a kid.. I'll NEVER forget that car!
There is no off-road oriented version of the Lightning. Its pretty good because of instant torque, but would need lots of upgrades to be durable and usable off road.
