There’s been a lot of confusion around the discontinued Boss Racing Cam part numbers and labeling. Misnomer is the
M6550-BEXH 13mm lift and 290 degrees duration and M6550-BINT 13mm lift and 263 degrees duration are not stock Boss factory cams. Many shops thought these cams were factory cams but specs are higher lift and longer duration.
Ford racing tech said there were not part of the CJ racing program.

If you have any pictures of the cams prior to installation, or are willing to pull a cam cover to check, the CJ cams (or even baby CJ cams) are ground on a billet cam core vs the regular production cams (Boss, GT, etc.) that use pressed-on cam lobes. The CJ cams will look different than the production cams that were removed. Hope this helps!

I did verify before installing and when I first got these cams the cam number stamped on the cam with Ford Engineering through Ford Performance. The only other way I validated was the car ran different at the initial start up which would be expected from different cams (I was on FBO tune), car was very lazy. It gets weird when I loaded the track key calibration which removed my tune. The car then woke up. After the dyno tune I netted 11 more whp. I also had head work that increased intake flow about 20 cfm. I would have expected more with the changes. When I see the box label I’m in question and doubt bc of results. I was told a 20 hp gain at the crank so that’s close but head work didn’t net anything. I will have to wait for et track time and a CJ intake to see if I get to 470-480 whp. I’m at 443 on 93 gas boss ported intake. Ultimately 447 with ford stock coil packs. These car thrive on more rpm so with a ported cj hoping to gain more hp.

Like I said a while back I should have went with the Comp cams... No lockouts are required the stock variable timing will still work perfectly with the right tune and you would gain about 25 horse

Well they have discontinued them for quite some time. My box is dated 2018. But the information is really bad.

@CoyoteProductionsBoss302 for the stock that is still in circulation, hopefully vendors/suppliers become aware that there is a discrepancy with the part numbers and have it addressed by adjusting prices or advertise the correct information.

I got news for you you just described Cobra jet camps beds these were originally supposed to be in the boss and they changed it those are make tablets supposed to be and you got around to 500 horsepower Boss 302 with the long tube headers increase the intake yeah you get a 500 horsepower engine with those cams if you do the whole combination properly

Yes, Ford shelved them from production,the problem is the labels and merchants don’t know a hoot about what they have. However labeling over the original label just adds confusion. I did have the exh cam numbers checked by ford engineering via for performance and said they were the right cams. Just crazy, I bought and returned cams to lethal performance because they said they were boss stock cams.
