After a disappointing crook knife build I thought I would try again and make a knife I would actually use at work, a hoof knife. As always, great video! We use hoof knives on bull's feet - bull laid down on hydraulic table. Been around them for decades. It never occurred to me to make one! Thanks for the notion!

I'm assuming your in England, what I thought was funny, the last gun show I went to in Florida there was a guy there with those drill bits drilling files and break drums just like you just said. Must be universal.

Brown “soap” is for brass & copper..., green is for hard steel, white is SS and hard.

I'm not sure ow I missed seeing this originally, but great video as always! With the handle you could also have cut the tang to thinner shape and epoxied it into a solid block of wood or antler. Looks like the plastic worked well for you though, I'd not seen that before so thanks for sharing!

Well, ... you made an awesome hook blade, should just reheat, drill holes, re-treat, re-sand, put a legit wood handle on it. you would have a great tool.

Now that's a well built hoof knife Very nice hoof knife looks sweet! Let us know how it holds up to every day sharpening and uses Vs. store brands ! I use anvil band hoof knife.but if you feel like making one to sale.

three passes and you got a mirror polish. Christ I was sitting for hours with sandpapers and I never got anywhere as close. Well I know where I went wrong now.

Have you ever made shoes for a mule. It's getting really hard to find mule shoes and I have a little forge I just started. My friends asked me to see if I could do it but I was hoping if I could see it done perhaps I could try it.

No never made a mule shoe but I guess it's just like a big donkey shoe so pretty easy really.

c shaped clip with little holes on each end for removing and replacing. you were talking about the round pliers.

You’ll want to use canola oil or even proper ht oil..... engine is terrible... poor quenchant and toxic smoke...
