We are in the modern age, not in a cave. I don't forge with rocks and I don't smelt my own iron(even though I've tried it). Forge how you like, I prefer precision, centered around the tooling I make.

haha, yeah I'm not planning on using this silly thing, have the head removable. Otherwise it would be pinned/glued.

Rigoni how come you have so little scale coming off during the forging proces? Everithing looks so clean: is it the steel or the gasforge?

I use a propane forge and try to avoid "soaking" the work at forging temps.

Would have been nice to see you forge and weld the socket.
@craig2963
@craig2963 3 года назад
The first 1:40 seconds was him making the socket. He drilled the bar on a lathe and than tapered it down in a set of dye's. The grinding of the barbs on each of the tines was kind of jumped over...just a couple of seconds of grinding and in the next shot they are already done.

@@rigoniironworks like I said it’s nice work . I could not begin to make what you have made (I’m the basic armature)it is outstanding, and that’s my point. I would dearly like to see another produced with a bit more raw blacksmith character ie some hammer marks, some minor flaws etc. I believe you would have worked your way through the ranks from traditional smithing to power hammers and lathes, so I’m sure you could do it. Please understand I’m not criticising you. Thanks
