@@jhermelmorris3783 Chevy had a big block in 1958 it was 348 ci and the 409 was an option the were both dogs as it was originally a truck motor. I ow ned a 1957 Merc with the turnpike cruiser engine 364 ci. It would blow any Chevy off the road the only thing it couldn't go past was a gas station. It got about 8 mpg.

You guys knocked it out of the park with that old lady. It's remarkable how overall good condition it's in, and like some of the other vintage Ford's from your channel, it almost seems like the car was sitting waiting for you. That car has buckets of character, and I wish cars were made like this still. The 428 sounds fantastic, and I would imagine it's got torque for days. Solid revival as always!

When I was 19 and in the army, I bought a 1976 bird. 460 ci ,every option except moon roof. Loved that car for 2 weeks. Then a 18 wheeler made a last second right turn from the left lane and destroyed my beautiful Thunderbird. I have always wanted to get another but it never happened. Pushing 60 years old now and would love a chance at buying one. Anything from 66 to 76 would be great. I would even buy this one. Hook me up guys. Love your vids!

I just finished a 3 year restoration of a 62 T-Bird with a 390 300hp. It was the same color combination as yours white/Blue interior but it was in much worse condition. So, since I had to restore the car I changed the color combo to Candy Apple Red outside and all White interior with red piping on the seats and red carpet and added red seat belts for safety. It came out beautiful. Used the original Kelsey Hayes wires, and just left off the spinners on rears and added skirts. Came out BEAUTIFUL and made the cover and centerfold of the August 2022 issue of Motoring Tampa Bay Magazine after winning a big car show here. Love my 62 Bird!!

A car with attitude....Saved by your warm climate and no road salt ever...That and heavy gauge sheet metal bodywork from the 1960s...Loved it...🤔🤔😳😏😏😀😀😀🇬🇧
@kingkrimson8771
@kingkrimson8771 Год назад
Warm climate is good for the metal but you should see what it does to interiors unless a car is garaged constantly! And yes, cars of that era had thicker sheet metal but factory rustproofing was in its infancy, it wasn't unusual for a car in a northern climate where salt was used on the roads in winter to be a rusted-out hulk within five years.

I hope you read this, I have cleaned cars for a very long time and the best thing i have found to clean and take away the smell and leave it smelling fresh is Lysol bathroom cleaner ( NOT IN THE CAN ) but in the spray bottle. Spray some on the carpet and also interior then put warm water with it scrub it and then shopvac it out and looks like new and smells so nice. Give it a try i think you will like it, It will NOT hurt the carpet or interior.

What you need to do now is take a really fine rubbing compound and buff it. Then after that wash it and clay bar it. Then put a foam pad on your buffer and use mcguire's finish rub. It will make a big difference from what you have after you washed it. I was a body and paint man for over 35 years I know what I'm talking about and it will be worth it. I don't know where you live but if you live close to middle Tennessee. Let me know and if you do I will try to help you. The stains you could not get out will stink when it starts to get damp from raining. You will have to pull the seats again in the front and rewash the carpet.

I prefer having the power without the noise, but then I always preferred "sleeper" style cars anyhow. You don't have to sound obnoxious to be the fastest, lol. I always thought the old fashioned way to break a tire down involved running over it with another vehicle to break the bead and then going around it with a couple of big dang flat screwdrivers 🤣🤣 Of course that could have just been Pappy's way. I do like that you went with larger wheels as they should offer a better ride if your roads are anywhere near as bad as they are up here. You could grind off a hair of the sidewalls as it will be white under the black and it really doesn't hurt its performance. The old Thunderchicken turned out pretty good. Bravo!

Back when I was younger I had a 1963 convertible is Ford Thunderbird. It was deep blue with white interior. Don't remember for sure the size of the motor but I know it was one of the larger big blocks. Automatic and it would spin the brand new tires down to bald in one night. I paid $75 for the old car and a metal gate. I have kicked myself in the rear ever since I got rid of that car. I have been looking for another 63 convertible since the early seventies. I still have not been able to find one. It looks just like you're 62.
