I've been farming trialmaster the past week for the shield (the other~10% drop) and have seen this sceptre at least 8 times. Then I check youtube and this video pops up. To quote Trialmaster, "Am I being punished?!"
I’ve been looking forward to the next video in your series and it’s again very informative and well structured. Thx for the deep dives. Please keep up the great work.
I would like to see one on the Winterheart unique amulet. I feel like it had an extremely niche build that it fit in, which has since been almost entirely lost. The methods to literally freeze oneself and stay a viable combatant are so extremely few and clunky that the amulet is mostly used for it's large cold resistance modifier than it is for the unique regeneration while frozen condition. The only use I ever saw for it was to be able to continue moving using the Unstoppable Juggernaut Ascendancy. This would be combined with Izaro's Dilemma(now drop disabled), Berek's Pass(armour while frozen), the Brass Dome(to prevent critical damage), and Reckless Defence to ensure you were critically hit. The critical would freeze you, giving you a large damage boost from the Dilemma, armour from Berek's Pass, and life regeneration from Winterheart. It was rarely used because of the massive number of components it needed to work, followed by the items needed to make use of it once it did work.
Dreamcore explaining things even i can understand. If i was as well versed as you in my vids i would be in a different dimension. Thanks for the vids bro.
Hey thanks for doing these videos. I love to play PoB more than PoE, so when you post a video it gives me at least 4 hours of enjoyment. This unique seems pretty interesting, and the fact that it was recently changed means there's things to be discovered. Off to PoB for me. I never got the chance to play the Vaal skill meta back before they changed how soul gain prevention works. Maybe this will be a good one!
wow cool item. i have never seen or heard of it in years of playing. i've also never noticed triumvirate authority but it's cool to think there is a damage build that could work off a single ring and a single one-handed weapon. seems like it would be potentially really good for an MF build, maybe even bossing an MF since vaal skills can supply single target damage
Been thinking about this one earlier. It looks like it has potential, but it looks like a huge pain in the ass to theorycraft. The build would also probably have a lot of socket pressure. That being said, what Vaal skills would you make a build with Yaomac's? Going by the new and old design, I think you want to have at least 2 or 3 Vaal skills to cycle around to spam.
The old Shepherd of Souls promoted using multiple Vaal skills and punished you for using non-Vaal damage abilities, but the new one is just fine using a single Vaal skill imo. BV, Firestorm, Storm Call are all good choices, Reap could be interesting too
I played Str Stacking Vaal Eq 2 leagues ago. That is a skill that can have more duration than the soul gain prevention. Had Soul Ripper automated. It never popped once during soul gain prevention. I don't think it can. Just like you cant activate a life flask while on full life.
I kinda liked the old version, the 50% consumed souls converted to other Vaal skills, it allowed for more skills in the rotation, which I realy prefer to play with, being a one button spamer never felt good to me and the new version kinda wants that to be the case
I tried making a vaal skill build, and found that all vaal spells just kinda suck. The best vaal spell imo is storm call (if you can have enough reduced prevention duration), and even it's kind of mediocre. The only good option I found is VLS, but I never made a melee build, so project is halted for the time being.
i made a weird infinity vaal build before, it was vaal ancestral warchief with str stack replica alberon. DPS wasn't even a fifth of a normal one with the same cost but it was hilarious with the high speed leap slaming totems.
I've had the game since launch, enjoyed it on and off ever since but most recently has been by longest absense from the game. I haven't playing it since the end of EoD. The upcoming expansion looks fun though, might have to boot it up again if we get another league like Necropolis
This is an inspiring series, but i would suggest adding examples to the usage of all those uniques, as someone who barely looks at vaal skills, id like to see how this "plays" or at least in theory, hear what is a good skill choise for such a build, maybe ill get lucky in ruthless and find it lol
Main problem with this weapon is numbers i think. It offer to little if you compare it to any crafted weapon or you can use exarh staff to triple your dmg so there is no point going for this unique vaal weapon.
It could definitely do with a bit more damage, but the reason to use it is there(Shepherd of Souls) so that you can spam vaal skill(s) with the right setup in place
so how does it work when your soul cost now costs more than the original capacity of the skill? can I still gain souls up to that charge or do I have to wait for the soul usage to dissipate so I can cast the next Vaal skill? For example if the original cost is 30 with 1 spell capacity and now my cost is >30 souls, do I have to wait or can I just gain more souls?
Vaal skills is in such a sad state. I appreciate GGG for trying to make Vaal skills effectively big nuke skills with cooldowns but they rarely ever worth the effort and at times they have actively antisynergy with their original skill.
Having farmed a few thousand ultimatums at this point, you'd be surprised how few of these i have seen. I wonder if you will do a video on gamblesprint. It's an awful item that i have seen only 4 of.
@@dreamcore_gg I have no idea what they were thinking with gamblesprint beyond it being a meme item. If you take lots of hits your speed averages out higher than what a normal set of boots give you, but if the last hit from a group was a huge negative role, it feels awful. On a build with avoidance and evade it doesn't work either as you could be waiting for a good roll to happen. The rest of it's stats are subpar as well so it's not like it makes up for it. Sone ways they could improve it while keeping the idea is to change range from 0% to 100% and put some other stats that change under other conditions but are potentially powerful.
Well, as this video shows, the mechanics around trying to maintain enough vaal soul uptime is pretty ridiculous, because not only are you trying to zero out the vaal soul lock, but you're also trying to generate enough of them, and for bossing, you just won't be able to generate enough souls to keep ripping your vaal skills, even on a Pathfinder.
The problem with this item it's the sacrifice of the weapon slot for it, in this league i've saw some vaal LS running with all this interactions, except this mace, unfortunatly this is not an viable item to use in tem actual state of the game
I've played it since launch on and off, but haven't played it for a long time now(since EoD). Fun game though, upcoming expansion looks fun but I still prefer GW1 overall
@@dreamcore_gg Very cool! Funnily enough it's very similar to me; very active from beta until right before EOD. Also very based take on gw1. Keep up the excellent poe content my man!
I wonder if it is possible to have permanent vaal coldsnap uptime? However without using the ring. It seems very powerfull but not as powerfull as a 6 link.
Wouldn't this be great on Vaal Warchief Flamewood totem? You pop him for super low costs every 8 seconds to smack and do crazy damage. You can even stack charges and go PDR and Transcendent quite easily. I mean 1 worm flask is enough souls to pop the totem on cd of souls
Just read up on the wiki. I don't think this would work too well because vaal totem skills use totem duration, not skill effect duration, to scale the vaal cd (TIL). Also if you were going to wait that long you might as well not use yaomacs at all.
@@darkfang25 It's 80% less and 30% less, so 0.2 * 0.7 = 0.14 (86% less). Less/more modifiers multiply against eachother, increase/decrease modifiers add with eachother.
I really like your content but I have to say these forgotten uniques format doesn’t interest me nearly as much as your build or mechanics breakdowns. Maybe it’s just personal taste though, in general love your channel.
That's fair, I wasn't too inspired by Necropolis so I also didn't really keep 'in-sync' with builds/wasn't too enthusiastic about making the build breakdowns this league. Forgotten Uniques is a mini-series to pass the time, but a lot of people enjoy it I think because it's a bit different, still familiar to my normal content with lots of mechanic breakdowns etc.
you lost me at Triumvirate Authority. I dont know what that is, you dont show anything on screen. you explain what vaal skills are as if not everyone knows. but then a minute later assume everyone automatically knows what a Triumvirate Authority is. If people don't know what vaal skills are.... alright forget it.
