Former Michigan State basketball star Adreian Payne, 31, killed in Florida shooting, police say

The shooting happened at 1:37 a.m. Monday (May 9) in the 2500 block of Egret Shores Drive in Orlando, Florida, according to authorities. Police said Payne was shot and killed by Lawrence Dority, 29, who stayed at the scene and was taken into custody by Orange County deputies.

i grew up watching him play for michigan state spartans his whole college career, looked him up today because i was curious to see where he was in life. this breaks me and hurts my inner child, this man was A BEAST ON THE COURT & had a big heart. rest easy big man 😢😢😢💚💔

It's truly said that Mr. Payne lost his life at such a young age due to violence and it's also sad that his college teammate Keith Appling is now in prison for murder. I watched them play in college and although I wasn't a Michigan State fan, I admired Mr. Payne for the affection he showed toward the young girl and I wanted nothing but the best for Appling since he was a fellow Detroiter.
