The site of this quarry town, long since gone, gives up 1800's coins, vintage watches and jewelry, relics and a bucket lister twice in one day !! ( editing error. My first coin WAS a Zinc penny. I somehow ended up placing the wrong coin photo behind the footage.)

Thanks Nick but I only found the one 1820. The first one in the video is the same one. I put the Largie picture after the Wheatie by accident. Lol. Yes I LOVE the good luck locks !

I recognize the one piece in your wrap up as a rod cap from a small engine. It's the piece that you said looks like part of a clamp. I enjoyed your video, interesting finds.

She brass piece you asked about in the junk wrap up appears to be the latch from an old surface mount door lock set HH GL

Lol thanks for the info! The Pepsi is always my reward on the drive home. I only drink water while I dig. It's a great site and I'm excited by the possibilities. I'm actually sending this from that location right now. It's been slow today but many acres to cover. Thanks for the view and comment!

When freezing water bottles, it is best to fill them about 2/3 full to allow for expansion as water expands with freezing. I just use 1 liter pop bottles in the reefer. Not a medallion, but a pocket watch fob, that you'll find everywhere pre 1960. I found a Duke Kahanamoku surfer fob here in Waipahu. He medalled at the 1912 Olympics, and competed in most to 1932. The car doorhandle look like a 1960s Dodge. When I was a little Destructo Kid I would melt zinc Cents over the gas stove. Force those old Cents back into circulation. By U.S. law all money is legal tender for the stated amount. Spending a gold Eagle on lunch is dumb, but legal. The stopper in glass is for a Worcestershire-like sauce bottle. Lea & Perrins used those stoppers from the 1800s until 1958.

Hi! My dad and I love to metal detect together and I was just curious as to how you approach these farm owners and get their permission. Is there a certain line you say if they don't know anything about it? Just need some advice that way, thanks!

Well first of all thanks for your support! I appreciate the view and comment. To start I will sometimes be driving and see and old place that looks promising. If I see someone in the yard I'll pull over and casually ask " if you dont mind my asking how old is this house? " I'll ALWAYS compliment the property and stress how much I love these old structures and the history behind them. I also have cards made up that I hand out. 500 cards for less than $15 purchased online. I rarely knock. It seems to me to be more of an invasion of privacy. Sometimes I drive by a property numerous times before I finally see someone out in the yard but that's my angle. If it seems like they are friendly enough, almost always, I'll ask if anyone has ever run a Metal detector on the property. I explain to them what I do and why I enjoy it. I always stress my love of history and the past and the excitement I get in unearthing an object that has been in the ground for over 100-200 years. At this point I request permission. I hand them a card with my name, email and number and point out that if for any reason I leave and they need to get a hold of me they can. It's kind of peace of mind for the property owner. In researching possible locations I use the USGS site. historicalmaps.arcgis.com/usgs/ I also use historic aerials. www.historicaerials.com/ and Google Earth. Combined these three resources will give you First. A location of old structures. Second. An idea of what they looked like from the air and a layout of the property and Third. A current aerial view to let you see if the structure is still there or if it's gone and a new structure is there. I hope this helps but if you need more specific info feel free to ask. I'd be happy to assist if I can. GL and HH !
