This is my basic training video in Fort Jackson. I went to basic training in July 2019. The is C Company, 3rd Battalion, 34th Regiment. I am in 3rd Platoon (Mayhem). We were rappelling 40 foot high tower called Victory Tower. It really was a challenge.

Just did this a few weeks ago. Im not gonna lie, as someone who has an extreme fear of heights (i mean panic attacks over a 5ft ladder) this was easy and i didnt cry until the adrenaline crash at the end 😂

Vic tower was awesome. It was a little intimidating, but once you’re over the ledge there’s no going back

that is not the same victory tower we had in the early 80's, which was an all wood structure. But I'm sure it's just as much fun.

And it was wobbly! At least when I went through in the 90s. Maybe that's why they added the metal frame lol

It was fun, I was intimidated marching up to it and worried for a split second on the edge before the rappel? Then it was nothing

do u have go climb down that big ass tower or is that mandatory no the rappel but the other side

Depends on the company you’re in lol the first company I was in only did the repel but I got covid and the second company did it

I leave October 26. Only did rappelling once at MTSU on their 55' tower. Glad this ones only 40 haha.

got to fort jackson october 26 2020, exactly a year by the time you get there. the tower was my first time rappelling and i was scared shitless looking over lol but it was awesome. have fun at relaxin' jackson! wasn't much relaxin' though. lol. be prepared for the cold :)

Is the rope you have to slide across hard?

Rope gonna be kinda ruff, hence you'll need the gloves to negotiate the rough rope

@@hayleypollard2029 Yeah, that's the Bad. Watch others, how they're wrapping one leg on the thick rope. Alternate hand as reaching out over to pull rope to advance. YOUR SHIRT TOP, IT MAY SLIDE DOWN AS YOU'RE ADVANCING BECAUSE YOU'RE CLUTCHING TOO CLOSE TO YOUR CHEST! Watch your shirt top because as you're advancing, the rope may pull shirt top and then start rubbing on your undershirt top. Yeah, I found that the hard way. Skin on rope about halfway through. Had to balance and elevate my chest to negotiate it better. Don't try too fast. Just get a rhythm and take it, you got a net under you. You'll find your boot is your anchor

It has to be tight otherwise you'd fall off easier. It's all about balance on the leg that hangs down. There's netting to catch you if you fall. Don't worry too much about it. My son said it was all fun.

@@giannameans4448 she fell down the Berlin Wall, her mate couldn’t help her and they have no safety measures that prevented it, if they would have at least a mat at the bottom she would have been fine. Lots of women are being hurt on this and the ruck sacks. Army is doing nothing about it.
