edited down from another vid. I got to see Foster in the Philipenes while I was in the navy, he did a great USO show, it was 1982 I think. Will miss this guy.
I laughed so hard, I couldn't walk! My father and mother would cry they laughed so hard! A consumate professional. No one could hold a candle to this man! Rip Mr. Brooks! Love you man.
You know I am Russian and only 34 but all of these were such great acts - anytime I have a bad day I put on Foster, Dean and Don and see where it goes- I rewatch many and still spill my vodka :))) thanks for the uploads and keeping this Russian laughing XD
Foster Brooks was a comedy genius.. He played his role to perfection. So good in fact that you could truly question if he was truly tipsy. His performance was that good. He was the major reason why I even watched these Roasts. He could get every star & comedian and entire audience laughing so hard that they were literally crying as well. He was the best .. this was a great era to grow up in .. the greatest I believe. I'm so glad I can watch these whenever I want because they were some of my favorite scenes on these Roasts. Foster was definitely my #1 favorite comedian to watch. I sure miss those days of entertainment... ❣️😥
Even though this was his whole schtick Foster Brooks did it so well it never seemed to get old.I did find however that in these roasts what DID get old was the stars going over board with the yucking it up and the false hilarity.SCTV if anyone remembers, did a great spoof of the Dean Martin style roasts with everybody pretending to be struggling for breath and pounding on the table with laughter etc .
Buddy Christ Comedy was a whole different shtick in those days. I watched the Roasts on television. No canned laughter. Total hilarity and mayhem when Foster Brooks came on and did his thing. No stupid political correctness. Have you watched Foster roast Sammy Davis Jr? Nobody could get away with that nowadays. All the celebrities on those shows were long time friends, and that made it even better.
One of the best comedians ever hands down this show was in the early 70s and were laughing more in 2019 doesn't get no better life was so good when people had less this world has everything you want and gone to a straight shit hole
He was amazing. Everyone starts cracking up before he even says one word and then completely destroys the room. When you have the greatest comedians on the dais with you and they are wiping tears away laughing, you are the undisputed master.
The funny men that appeared on these roasts are gone; not to be replaced by any one today. Most of them came from poor backgrounds. All were products of the Great Depression. All of them paid their dues. I will never see their likes again in my lifetime. Rest in Peace comics and comedians, thank you for making us laugh. Blessed be your names.
The best talent at that table. You are surely missed. R I P. All of you. Thank you for the joy you brought us. Thanks for the memories. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I just love how, when he's introduced and stands up, Foster Brooks just slips into the character like a comfortable set of clothes. So seamless and full of art.
If you can get Jack Benny, George Burns, Dean Martin, and the other comedians in a galaxy of a dais rocking with laughter then you must be good. It couldn't even be assembled today let alone performed. The lights of Comedy have gone out......RIP Giants.
I'm watching this in March 2021 and still in absolute stitches for laughing. A great talent when everybody starts laughing before he even speaks. 😃😅🤣🤪😁🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
How can anybody give this thumbs down? This shit is off the hook funny. This is how I got my comedic chops when I was a little boy watching this stuff.. Comedy genius
@@contimarthas7512 If you haven't seen it the Lucille Ball roast is stupendous!!!! Highly recommended, friend! I managed to find it for you, ENJOY!!! One of my all time funny classics ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XpSECVuJTAo.html , regards from England!
Boy oh boy were we so blessed to be born in the time of rock and roll, hot rods, bikinis, and the funniest comedians that ever were or will be...And this guy was clearly at the top of that heap, of sheer brilliance...
You know, Foster Brooks appears to have only one act and you would think that audiences would get tired of it. But Foster Brooks brings a freshness to each performance that you realise that the act is the continuation of many segments of that act which he has honed to perfection. A genuine, lovable, funny man. Thank you Foster, for the laughs.
FOSTER BROOKS is the only comedian who makes me laugh so hard that my eyes water every single segment. A TRULY GREAT TALENT made to look so easy and off the shoulder.
My dad loved Foster Brooks, and those roasts. He would laugh and slap his leg , and I remember him saying that Foster was so good that he could almost smell him. I miss you, Dad
My dad would laugh so hard that he was sobbing!!! I was a kid, watching with my parents...and I was hysterical, too!!! I wasn't sure how I was going to get my next breath in!! I miss my Dad, too!!
My god this man was hilarious. He never once drank when he did his act, but holy man was he a genius acting it out so perfectly. Body movements, slurred speech, glazed over eyes, and the constant mistakes he naturally said when he spoke. No other comic even today can do that with such precision. He was always working even in commercials. Plus - - he was actually a good singer when he didn't do his drunk act. Comedians like Foster Brooks livened up the audience with such audacious mannerisms, and sheer will he could make any grim person roll on the floor laughing in no time flat. Excellent man.
This took a lot of work to get the timing, the wacky pronunciations, the physical comedy: all had to work and be hilarious. Somehow he did it. A unique talent.
There are many great comedians kept immortal over these youTube vids, but Brooks alone remains the only one I would call _excruciatingly_ funny. And for minutes on end, one video after another. He never mis-times or misjudges any gag or besotted inflection.
This is the kind of comedy we need now a days! They just dont make them lime they use to anymore :-( all it is now a days is nasty and foul comedy roasting, and people arguing on reality tv crap. Thats why we live in such mess up world :-(
"...and 78 dollars from the return of empty soda bottles he collected in his neighborhood." Great joke even sober and one I'm sure Jack appreciated very much.
I watched every time a roast came on tv. It didn't matter who was being roasted, this show was alway FUNNY! I always hoped & couldn't wait for Foster Brooks, Rich Little & Ruth Buzzi to come on. Won't find anything like this on tv today!
Absolutely Classic 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Nick Sr. Would laugh his hard ass off EVERY TIME Foster Brooks came on ! That always made me happy to hear him laughing so hard ! 🌈. I’m now 57 and their all gone now .....this brings a tear as well as joy 😘
I've been watching these Foster Brooks bits, think it's funnier now than it was back during the original air. I laugh completely through all of these. The Don Rickles Roast was the absolute most hilatious yet.
You both are right, and what these wyning libeals have turned people into today couldn't have even been imagined 30-40 years ago, one complaint and todays idiots worry more about the 1% than the 99% who love these clips of clean, hysterical humor. 1 buttplug ruins it for 99% of us. These damn liberals say its cruel to put the names of kids on the school listings who worked their tails off to make honor roll and it offends those who didn't. There's so many other things these liberals are doing to hurt achievers and people who've taken risks and now their being harassed and demonized by idiots who feel they're entitled to what the risk takers successful earnings belong to them as well. That's BS, you're entitled to be paid for doing your job but where one of these ignorant socialist fools need to explain why you think the successful business man or woman's wealth, which is the payoff of THEIR EFFORTS, not some wyning punk who thinks that its their money too, just because you work there?? Answer me this last question you idiots... When was the last time a poor person hired you for a job?!? IT'S NEVER HAPPENED!!! So either get off your fat lazy ass and go take the chances the employer did to build his wealth or do your job and STFU. If you don't like something you're free to pick up and leave. Nobody forcing you to stay where you're not happy, nobody owes you squat, you want socialism??? Drag your ignorant ass to china, cuba, n korea cause your bullshit ain't happening here. Effing liberal socialist idiots, socialism has been total disasters EVERYWHERE its been tried, you're all a totally intellectually deficient bunch of ignoramouses to think we who love this country will let you libs spit in the faces of those who have fought and died, been wounded in body and mind and the entire 1% of this countries population while about half of the 99% are liberal ingrates. We need to do what Israel does, 100% of their population must serve a minimum of 2 years in service to their country, NO exceptions. Don't want to do it?!? You're gone, PERIOD. We need that policy so badly here and the results of implementing that would be noticed almost immediately. Even that previous occupant in the Whitehouse said the only correct thing in his entire 8 years, "everyone needs skin in the game" one of the big problems now are ingrates who think everyone owes them a living, no one owes you anything. You attack people who are directly responsible for your freedom to be the clueless jackasses you are. I've got to stop now before I tell you how I really feel.
bigroy38 well said. Most so called comics today have filthy mouths and precious little talent. Also, most are openly hostile to our country and center their routines around their leftist politics. Big mistake. Comics like Benny, Brooks, Hope, Skelton and most their generation had the good sense to keep their politics out of their public and professional lives. They had some class. We will NEVER again see their like. It's sad.
Pure humour, inoffensive, relatable across all backgrounds. Demonstrate s how to be able to laugh at oneself and not be diminished by the experience. Something that has been lost by our modern public figures who are lesser for its omission.
ya know david, I fully am aware of what you speak of. It's just like with the movie Blazing Saddles, you couldn't do a movie like that today becuz you'd have lynch mobs coming after your ass and with this quality brand of comedy, yeah, your right. You dont have this kind of comedy anymore cuz most comedians just wanna scream and swear now. keep the faith, brothers!!!!
I just adore Forrest Brooks , I love his storys . And. he's avery sweet and wonderful person. And that's why I love him so much, rest in peace my friend . I'm miss you. maryann 💖
