If you’re ever feeling down, all you have to do is watch several of these, and you’ll automatically feel better, because laughter truly is the best medicine on the planet and he is truly a doctor of it
@@TheJollyMisanthrope Every time I watch the police haul a drunk to jail after getting in a traffic accident I always think, “At least he can tell politically incorrect jokes, so it’s all good!” OMG, give me a frickin’ break!
.from Glen Moran Aust.Qld .I can.t say enough about how funny and a great comedian MR.FOSTER Brooks.reall was.. a nd watching him without him cracking a smile..the best pLAY acting drunk I've ever watched on TV IN MY LIFE TIME.AND TO SEE DEAN MARTIN LAUGHING AT FOSTER IS SOMETHING ELSE.SPECIALLY WEN FOSTER LOOKS AT DEAN AND TAPS HIM ON THE SHOULDER MR FOSTER BROOKS REST IN BEAUTIFUL PEACE MY FRIEND LIKE ELVIS. U WILL BE ONLY ONE MR.FOSTER BROOKS. U GAVE ME THE BEST BELLY LAUGHS OF ALL TIME
Today’s comedians would be ostracized by social media for being misogynistic and racist if they were to repeat any of these jokes. They would lose their jobs, wives and any chance of future employment in the field.
I have seen many comedians and actors imitate drunks.... but no one and I mean no one did it like Foster Brooks.... if you didn’t know he was acting you would swear to God he was actually drunk...Unbelievable and unmatched talent
That's when America could laugh and enjoy being American. Those gents can't be replaced, we miss them all! Foster was one of a kind, theyll never be another. I miss that America, I'm sure they do too!
Really? That America where Sammy Davis Jr., despite being who he was, was not allowed to go through the same club entrance as the rest of the Rat Pack? That America where had Elvis Presley not threatened not to perform his back up singers, being all black were initially refused the use of the same entrance as him? That America? How can you miss that? It's still alive and very much kicking, 'THAT' America...
"He had two black people for dinner, and they were delicious"!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 How far would that joke fly in today's world? There would be instant protests. Very funny stuff from days when people weren't offended by the slightest thing.
It wouldn't because it is offensive. It maintains stereotypical and prejudicial attitudes. If you don't get that then it's no wonder that racism is still an issue in the US
Today, it would Only be funny or more importantly, ‘acceptable’ if a person of color were telling the joke. White comics risk a forced career change if they dare utter ANY humorous words about any another tribe. Comics of color such as Richard Pryor & Eddie Murphy have always enjoyed the freedom of Zero comedic restrictions regarding race or political correctness. One recent exception: Dave Chapelle got pushback from the LGBT community for his recent Netflix Special.
@@thankyoucaptainobvious7707 no Black comedian would make such a joke. Pryor and Murphy knew how far they could take white jokes. And they stayed away from jokes about the 2SLGBTIQ community. Ralphie May is very deliberate in his routine. Much of what was "accepted" then wasn't because it was liked but because there was mass approval by white audiences. Those days are over ☺️
@@Hywords contrary to popular belief, many people can tell the difference and discern between a joke about something and being outright prejudice or racist. Take and understand it for what it is meant to be, a harmless joke! If you can’t get past the context it was intended, and just enjoy or appreciate the comedic value or creativity of the delivery…..you’re a lost cause! Quit getting your panties in a bunch (as we used to say….) and go get professional help to deal with your insecurities and lack of humor…….Unless you’re a Karen and enjoy having a stick so far up your ass you have to critique and bitch about something you don’t get.
DoktorSick. It sure doesn't. My dad watched every one of them. I'm 67 now and when I pull one up I find myself watching them for hours. Foster was my favorite but I loved them all.
As a Brit who discovered Foster a few years back, I can't get enough of the lad and have watched everything on line of him twenty times over. You need cheering up? He's the boy.
This is what comedy was and should always be! Everyone enjoyed a good laugh when Foster Brooks and his contemporaries roasted one another on the classic Dean Martin comedy roasts. Today, there may have been lawsuits against such comedians.
When you can get laughs without saying a word(just walking up to the podium, the people on the dais are already laughing 😂😅)tells you how funny his drunk character was
Just can't get enough of this man. 😂 Mr Brooks was one in a million. To think that he's acting, and stone sober! Now Dean Martin, on the other hand...🥃🥃🥃 🤣👍
The 'Lovable Lush' would never get airtime in today's woke PC world. He was a genius who was a longtime local radio deejay and didn't start his comedy career until he was in his fifties.
I can remember the first time I saw Foster Brooks was on the Mork and Mindy show. He was the guy who fixed every thing plus her land lord. Even then he played drunk. Watch the one where he roasts Don Rickles
Funny yeah,, twist that skit around, be made a joke of because you are not white.. is the audience black? or any part thereof, BLACK? NO. I'm Maori NZ, went through life with this g/bage, Dad white, Mum Maori. WE CHANGED THAT attitude on its HEAD. We now lead the World with leadership, compassion, (regardless of Aust. Gov. ) and dignity. Proud Maori of 66 yrs live amongst ozz, and now , multi culture, BUT the underline oz still has the white oz policy regardless of Aborigines and there ownership of land/culture.It takes time to understand the timeless land. White policy will be and become non existent due to natural selection.
Comedians are known to have very, very high IQ's. And, they are known (like portrait artists) to see beyond the facade, beyond the fake...& they expose us all for the hyprocrits that we All are; however, they possess the unique talent to make us laugh about ourselves & make us alright with it!!
Foster Brooks, the funniest drunk who never drank. This is when comedy was truly funny and the comedians didn't need to curse or scream like the so called comedians do on today's ridiculous roasts. This is when comedy was true genius.
Far from his best, I'm afraid. Did he write his own material or did he use gag-writers? Either way, he was less dangerous here. The roasting he gave to Don Rickles was brilliant and brave in claiming to be 'fooling around' with Mrs Rickles. Don Rickles being an insult comedian had to take a dose of his own medicine and people loved it.
Back in the day when we could laugh without broke woke PC liberal nonsense getting in the way of everything! Back when we could laugh at public drunkenness in a good natured way. Nobody did it better than Foster farms.
Good point by Foster - You mean NO ONE from All In The Family could show for Carroll O'conner's roast? Either they were rude, or speaks volumes to what Carroll was like behind the scenes.
John Carroll O'Connor (Manhattan, Nueva York, 2 de agosto de 1924-Culver City, California, 21 de junio de 2001) fue un actor estadounidense de cine y televisión.
John W Hardin Among other great things that have folded up are The Greatest Show On Earth and humanity's sense of humor; it was murdered by those who are easily offended and instantly judgmental. What's most heartbreaking and terrifying is that common sense is currently on life support. Don't try to blame millennials for everything; you'd be surprised how many times my sister, who's a baby boomer, asks "Are you awake?" after I respond to her calling my name. Plus, I'm a member of the notorious Generation X who insists that the best way that kids learn from the mistakes of their elders and betters is the hard way: They must make those same mistakes themselves.
IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, HIS CAREER CAME TO A SCREECHING HALT WHEN MADD SPOKE OUT AGAINST HIS ACT AS A BAD INFLUENCE THAT ENCOURAGED DRUNK DRIVERS TO NOT SEEK HELP ~
