Great to showing the Fisherman's knot. Save money by making your own custom necklaces. Especially since primary donate is becoming more popular on the recreational side.
Had to come re watch this vid. I was humbled quickly trying to reattach a marker buoy that got loose from our platform. 😅 on a positive note I utilized my navigation skills to recover said buoy on a heading shot from 135 yards away! I popped up just about 5 yards off target
Hey that kind of thing happens. Honestly when recording this there was a point I had to pause everything and double check a knot too 🤣🤣 I have a private playlist of various scuba tip videos I’ll refer to now and then that I started putting together full of videos from a bunch of channels because there’s unfortunately not a great “single source of information” from what I found. One of my goals with this channel is to fix that. Make good quality content that can be referred to in a single place rather than jumping around a bunch of channels trying to find an answer 😅
Hi I learned the bowling knot oh about 40 years ago and the way I learned it your lead is longer about 10 or 12 inches and after you go around the tree you bend the lead in half then go in the hole. That way if you only have one hand you just pull on the lead and it falls apart. But it still holds the load the same.
Very good video. I use the fisherman's knot necklace for my octo reg and my 40" long hose for my primary reg (recreational diver). I believe you mentioned having the primary reg in the necklace and donating the long hose reg? Which do you recommend?
Thanks! Long hose configuration is to donate the primary, your long hose, and then use your redundant in your necklace for yourself. Dont put your long hose in a necklace.
As usual well done. I agree these are very useful knots for SCUBA diving and I use all of them and more. However, your title says "You MUST KNOW ....... Beginners Guide". It's miss leading. You don't need to know how to tie any knots to become Open Water certified.
Thanks! Good point, maybe beginners guide isn’t necessary since it’s used in advanced open water certifications, though AOW isn’t necessarily saying someone is advanced either 😅 I may play with the title some, thanks!
Always found it enjoyable teaching basic knots and how amazing people found it to use it everyday life. Grew up on boats and snorkeling and diving that it became a part of everyday life!😎👍
It’s really useful to know a handful regardless right? I mean just for little tasks and projects unrelated to diving or boating even. I learned a trucker’s hitch for tying loads down when I was a kid camping, but something simple like a bowline or overhand loop are just nice skills to have for a variety of applications! Always happy to see you in the comments, thanks for watching again!
