This womans voice haunts me. Ever since I saw this more than a decade ago. These people will never find peace after that day. God bless them.

Cally deserves to have his rights stripped and to be locked away for life. I can see how if you've always followed orders and your week you will just continue to follow those orders whether they were morally right or wrong. Those that refused and stopped this are heroes and are people worth commemorating.

This black soldier who refused was totally in the right and the ones who murdered these innocent people should have all refused.

Thank you, Harry Stanley, Michael Burnhardt and Robert Maples for being decent human beings. I would like to think that I would o the right thing as you all did, but I also hope that I'll never be tested.

I'm crying... only a lost soul will think harming innocent 'unarmed' civilians is something to not be shameful of... because you contributed to someone's anguish and misery all for a contradictory group that claims to have fought for the people of Vietnam …and yet these were the same people they killed....

Check out the video on this page, keywords: cchr org, Psychiatry an Industry of Death . . . there was a similarity in the style of killing here, but the background reason for it is different, an undefined enemy and revenge vs. eugenics, it talks about that towards the end

Horrors of War on both sides. Remember that. Remember that before you get one sided. No excuses for the Horrors for either side. Horrors come from selfish frustration and not knowing right from wrong after too many killings and atrocities are witnessed or performed. Both sides feel pain and loss. That's just the bottom line. there are no excuses to offer that will make any sense. Indiscriminate killing and atrocities. No good for either side

To any soldiers reading this that may live with the guilt of senseless murdering, you are equally as victimized as the people you were ordered to kill & sometimes without mercy. I know what PTSD is very well & all I can say is I hope you find peace of mind in knowing you were simply caught up in a psychological crime against humanity by being a soldier in war & war is insane on many levels.
@ainmiky4620

Raping and shooting a 14 year old is a due to psychological pressure too? Whay about killing an infant? No fuck these fuckers. They deserve to die and burn in hell.

Major Hugh Thompson refused to kill unarmed civilians and there were a few other soldiers who refused to open fire at unarmed Vietnamese civilians. For those who did fire at them are guilty of their actions. Let's not sugarcoat their brutal behaviour. I'm sure if the civilians were of European descent or Americans, you wouldn't justify their actions.
@CatatonicImperfect

i am sorry, but no. perpetrators of crimes against humanity are not "equally victimized". i know y'all fetishize the military in america, but this goes too far. imagine talking about the wehrmacht like this. jeez.
@IAmMrQ

No need to apologize. I haven't been in that kind of scenario before, but these were basically kids that were wrapped up in the heat of the moment & when you can't tell an enemy from a regular civilian it is cause for serious paranoia. Calley is a piece of shit in my opinion, he was in charge & knew he was calling on his men to commit these evil acts. I simply sum it up by saying War Is Terror.

Stop rationalizing! You will never find peace if you don't man up and admit to what you did and say sorryto those that you've harmed! What makes me utterly humbled is the fact that many of the Vietnamese people are willing to forgive and forget. It it was me, I don't know what I would do.

They also raped, scalped, cut their heads off, hands and tounge. Those are deplorable, heinous acts that go farther than being disillusioned and confused on who the enemy is and just following orders. I am American and disgusted on what our fellow soldiers did . Unfortunately, this is war and no side is a hero.

I respect your perspective, but just because you live in a home it does not make you an architect either. War is chaotic, and being a Vet myself I will tell you that those who do not follow orders are very few & far between. Military training is about drilling the mind into that of a trained killer who follows orders. The rouge ones who do not are also the ones that get themselves & their battle buddies KIA. It's a slippery slope to be a soldier in guerilla warfare.
