MOTOWN! This was my favorite genre for years. Best driving music EVER. So many great groups! And then the British Invasion hit and Motown melted away after a few years. How can you NOT dance to this? Four Tops, The Temptations, The Supremes, MARTHA and The Vandelas….etc etc. this is such FUN music. Part of the soundtrack of my high school years. 😀
THE ONLY music reactor who will reel up a tune and play it back from start 3x . Going off on a near 60 year old tune! Best music reactor out there, and he's from the UK!! Listening to Toto's - hold the line got me here. SUBSCRIBED! Now I'm binge watching.
Great thing about growing up in Detroit, in middle of Motown and Classic Rock coming up. We had it all! Motowns a great rabbit hole to go down! Another great review buddy!
That was an amazing reaction. I literally laughed out loud a couple of times at your enthusiasm and had a smile on my face the whole way through. This one is from my childhood.
I find myself coming back to this song over and over. The Four Tops were brilliant. Reminds me of simpler times in my teen years back in the 90s when I started listening to Motown and falling in love with the music. Btw, I absolutely *love* your reaction to this song. It's my internal reaction to Motown. And I put this song on repeat because my autism can't handle hearing it only once and being done with it.
There are SO MANY great Motown songs out there for you to discover. Another one from the Four Tops is "Reach Out I'll Be There", but my absolute fave of theirs is "Bernadette". You'll love that one. Also, don't miss "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder and "Tears of a Clown" by Smokey Robinson.
Believe it or not we had the Four Tops sing this song in a concert held in our gymnasium at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring Maryland in 1965. It was amazing ❤️👍
This is by far, the best reaction to any song 🎶, hands down. Prove me wrong. “This is f*cken Music” should be on a t-shirt. So many great moments in this video. “Tambourine, that’s my job.” 😂. What you heard in your right hear I believe is a baritone saxophone 🎷. I played it in my HS Jazz band. I also restart this song 2-3 times at least. The intro just gets you hyped up. You were vibing to this song like you were in a Zumba class. Well done 👏
Motown is what I always listened to growing up. And no, there's no other music like it. Check out these motown songs from various artists. Build Me Up, Buttercup; Reach Out, I'll Be There; Papa Was a Rolling Stone; War, Signed, Sealed, Delivered; Diamonds on the Back; and my personal favorite, Shotgun, by Jr Walker and the All Stars
Love your reaction! I couldn’t have smiled bigger the entire time even if I tried. You will be at the top of all the reactors on YT before long. Your energy is amazing! ❤️
I don’t think I’ve heard this song for 40 odd years but it certainly put a smile on my face hearing it again 😀 I love your enthusiasm for new music genres
Having grown up with all this great music it always boggles my mind that people don’t know all these songs. However, seeing your joy in discovering the sheer amount of musical glory that is the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s redeems all. By the way, 30’s through 50’s popular music was pretty darn good as well. Drops off a bit in the 90’s and very sparse nowadays in comparison. I blame autotune and computers for the lack of creativity.
One thing that I love about this era at Motown is that they were not afraid of redlining the recording level. Just the perfect bit of crunch to the mix.
Okay I'm a Virgo and we're very number conscious and I'm watching you I loved you from your first reaction and you know what with every reaction I love you more and more and I think you're absolutely off-the-charts gorgeous and just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about and this score is based on looks and personality😮 on a scale of 10 I would give you a solid 100❤❤❤❤
I'm still waiting to see what song finally makes you fall out of your chair, seen a couple come close, the one that does needs to be named the mind melt of the year
LOVE YOUR Reactions to MoTown 👍💥🎙️📻🎸🥁🎺🎷💜💥 We listened to these songs on the radio & if you had a stereo that was best !! You are a Motown groupie, no doubt about it 🤗📻
Motown, Blues, Rock, our generation of music is for you to discover and you're teaching a new generation. These recordings are always out; then, now and forever. Beatles, Jimi, Floyd, Zeppy and on...
I grew up listening to Motown. My folks had all of these on 45’s. It’s the best. I sometimes wonder where it went. A good one in this vein is “Lorelei” by Styx.
I wish I had a time machine that I could take you back in time so you could experience the music I grew up on. Just so you could see them in concert. I truly love watching watching your journey. ❤️
Anyone remember that animaltronic singing prop Big Mouth Billy Bass? They should patent a new version and call it Foul Mouth Hector Badass...Hector plus Motown equals big smile on my face, bless ya mate.
So glad you're going here (Motown), the Four Tops were magic and one of the best groups of the time, do more... Drifters, Temptations, Jackie Wilson, Supremes, Little Stevie Wonder (Try Fingertips Part 2)
Oh, yes, it’s Motown’s song at its finest. I’ve heard this song mostly on the radio 📻 w/ my fam and at my work. It’s interesting song to listen to. At first, when I first heard of this song, I thought it was The Temptations, but I learn it’s the group called The four Tops. I learn something new daily. Thanks so much for sharing your reaction and it’s a like and thumbs up.😄👍#thefourtops
I was 5 when this came out, I'm a scouser and the four tops where played as much as the Beatles back then, the Beatles brought Help out at the same time 😊 I'd be rocking me little head off listening to the Tony Blackburn Show or Deaert Island Discs or Radio Caroline ❤❤❤
If you liked this, check out the Flamingos singing "I Only Have Eyes for You". A slower groove but a love song that will melt you like butter. And on a completely different note, one of the premier jazz singers in the world was Sarah Vaughan, known as "the Divine One" and "Sassy". There's a 1963 live performance, in black & white, of her performing "Misty" that should be required listening for anyone who appreciates vocal talent. She's the best of the best.
Ok! You have found a new genre! I knew you’d love other kinds of music. Here’s some artists I recommend and one song to try. But there’s lot more from each though! Al Green - Let’s Stay Together The Temptations - Just My Imagination The Platters - Twilight Time Gladys Knight and the Pips - Midnight Train To Georgia The Supremes - I Hear A Symphony The Flamingos - I Only Have Eyes For You Nat King Cole - Unforgettable Johhny Mathis - Chances Are Sam Cooke - A Change Is Gonna Come Etta James - At Last Isaac Hayes - Theme From Shaft Curtis Mayfield - Superfly Michael Jackson - Don’t Stop Until You Get Enough
OMG!!! How you choose the music to listen to is a mystery to me but you are choosing the best of everything. Keep up the good work. 2023 is really starting out with a bang.
Mark, I just knew you would love Motown! As a kid I had a stack of 45s of Motown music. Such great music that forces you to get up and dance (and I can't even dance!).
Motown will allways be close to my heart man as a detroiter its just a blessing being the founders of this beautifull music plus on a deeper more personal level wen my piece of shit father was beating the shit out of my mom and my family was doing there bullshit hood shit motown music was what put a smile on my moms face she just didnt give a fuck about being beaten up and treated like shit aslong as she had baby me at home with her and she had her motown music blasting out on her old vinyl record player because its that music that just makes u feel good inside and touches ur soul....no matter how fucked up life was nothing could break my moms when she had her music in her life even wen she had the cancer and she was taking her last few breaths right up untill the very end she had her record player at her bedside and she had the biggest smile on her face listening to her vinyls she died halfway thru singing the drifters up on the roof her last breath was singing her ass off to her favourite band...thats why music means so much to me and i raised my kids on the importance of music
Oh dear Matthew I've read your post a few times now and my heart goes out to you and your lovely Mum. I'm 82 years old and I've past on too the generations in my family the love of good music that makes you feel good, I have lung cancer myself but will keep listening to music like this till the day I die. I certainly don't want to be like the father described in the Temptations Song as "Papa was a rolling Stone "😎👋💕🎶🎵🎶bye from Perth Australia.
@@justinthyme5382 im lucky enough in a way that my mom is buried in woodlawn cemetery in detroit and she shares the cemetery with so many musical icons so wen ever i get to visit the cemetery to lay flowers for my mom i have my own little tradition i keep where il buy a load of single roses and il spend and extra hour up there laying a rose for all the pioneers...my mom is buried 3 plots up from laurence payton from the four tops, there is levi stubbs there from the four tops, aretha franklin and all her family are buried there, bobbie smith from the spinners, david ruffin from the temptations, ronald and david glenn winans from the winans family....because there music had such an impact on my moms life and my life its just an honor for me to lay a rose for them as a thank you for there contribution.......thats the only thing i like about being a detroit boy knowing so many of the pioneers came from my local area and being able to pay my respects
Aren't they just beautiful these Motown songs! Although I remember getting annoyed as a kid when the 'old' people started swinging to this at weddings 🤣. Now (an adult) I just love this happy music! Ibizabelle
I have hundreds of recommendations in this era!! I grew up listening to this stuff. So much respect for that generation of music. Yakety Yak Don't Talk Back - The Coasters, Stand By Me - Ben R. King, Blueberry Hill- Fats Domino, Johnny B Goode- Chuck Berry, Chantilly Lace- The Big Bopper, Rock Around the Clock- Bill Haley and his Comets, Tutti Frutti- Little Richard. Ok....I'll stop lol
I'm loving the diversity here. This genre was a rabbit hole for me too. I'm going to need to make a couple "must eventually" recommendations here. If you want a good feel good song try.... Jerry Lee Lewis - Great Balls of Fire Martha and the Vandelles - Dancing in the Streets Chuck Berry - Johnny B Good If you want to see a LEGENDARY live performance try... Elvis - Suspicious Minds (Live in Las Vegas) If you want your heart to melt out of your body try... Percy Sledge - When a Man Loves a Woman Harry Chapin - Cats in the Cradle Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody Righteous Brothers - You've Lost That Lovin Feelin There is NO was around it. These are era defining nothing tops this kinda songs.
Mr Hector if I was 20 years younger (yes dammit, 20!) your wife would have serious competition 🤣😍 who could not love you? Fuck I hate being old. On the other hand I was sneaking into clubs aged 15/16 exactly because of the music. We didn't want to pull or drink we just wanted to dance. This would be 76/77. They always played great music; it's what you went for. DJs were like rock stars. Motown was always on the playlist. Everyone was so slim back then I'm sure it's all the grooving we did. I danced my arse off. You're pretty good mover yourself actually. 💃👯
An undeniably happy song! That buzzing in your left ear was a baritone or bass saxophone I think. Yes, more Motown than soul for this one. I said to you at the start of your journey that it’s a big musical ocean to enjoy. Yes, you should do disco. You’ll love it. Disco is also a happy sound which makes you want to move. But so is grunge. And punk. And metal. Get the picture? Be well Mark.
My FAVORITE music is R&B, Motown, Soul... Great and sexy music! This generation of Mainstream music is awful. I mean there are a few great ones out there like Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, etc... I was born in '69, so I remember this music. Classic R&B, Soul, Rock... Such great music! Great reaction, Hector!! Much love✌️❣️
If you like Motown, check out its Memphis cousin Stax/Volt. Otis, Sam and Dave, Booker T and the MGs, Carla and Rufus Thomas, Isaac Hayes, William Bell, Eddie Floyd…great stuff.
Hey baby it's your favourite stalker and Toronto Canada and I am finally getting around to watching this I have over 500 videos in my folder to watch😂😂😂😂
