I used to go to wigan casino in the early 70,s to watch rock bands we had to out before midnight then the soul nights could start ,good times.

Saw him at the top rank Doncaster in 1972 great performer and a brill voice

His daughter came to our youth club in Peterborough around 76-77, then 16 or 17 like us. A few of us played Northern Soul records in the backroom there so I pulled out A Little Piece of Leather (Gateway+Sue) as a tribute to her Pops. Donnie was also the writer of Open The Door To Your Heart by Darrell Banks, one of the greatest Soul records ever made. Respect.
