I've owned these alarms for more than 6 months and used them extensively in all sorts of weather. I'm making this a real world honest review to save you making the same mistakes as I made when looking at lower to mid range priced bite alarms before I ended up with these.
Whilst researching and scouring the market for an affordable 3 rod set I had a few stipulations. Number 1 they had to be reliable, 2, I wanted them to either be rechargeable or house the PP3 9v battery in the alarm heads themselves and 3, I wanted a power out jack.
Well 2 out of 3 isn't bad as I had to forfeit the PP3 9v battery for the LR1.
I'm so glad I did because these alarms are truly wonderful, they're sleek looking units and a real joy to use. The power efficiency is also very impressive in fact I'm still using the first set of batteries that I purchased when buying the alarms.
To summarise: If you're looking to purchase reliable alarms from a reputable brand for under £200 these could well be right up your street.

I've always said all multi product tackle companies have one item they excel in. Nash....Bivvies, Diawa....Reels and with Fox its alarms which I've used non stop since the early 90's. I've got a set of these and there bullet proof in my eyes, and cheap..

Hi Tone. I think you've pretty much summed it up there in a couple of sentences. That's the very reason I decided on these mini micron. Thanks for the feedback Steve

Have you fished in minus tempratures with these? Im a little worried about the wheels freezing up, my delks have a problem again and just want new and these look mega value. Thanks

Hi mate. I've only done 2 sessions where it was below freezing and they were fine. I can't really be too specific about the temperatures but I do remember there was a frost. Not much help I guess. Tight lines Steve

Yea nice alarms pal excellent value and fox have a real pedigree when it comes to bite alarms u cant go wrong in my opinion cheers pal be lucky

Pedigree.. that's the word pal bang on. I've tried to cut corners before in other words.. being tight with my cash but it's not worth the hassle don't get me wrong there are some great alarms out there with lots of bells and whistles but for pure reliability these will take some beating in their price range. All the best pal Steve

I'd been looking at bite alarms for the last 2 months,really couldn't decide which to go for,last night I went a brought a set of these used,and I have to admit they are really good,I had the original ones way back in the day and we didn't have receivers then and pleased to say these are the exact same quality as I remember fox alarms being back then,you can't go wrong with fox alarms great quality and totally reliable,I'd looked at delks,nd tackle,Nash,etc some are absolutely ridiculous price wise ok if you want all the extra gimmicks I guess but I don't need that,just wanted a decent reliable set with decent battery life so I had to go for a set of fox alarms 😀
@BivvyLife

It seems that you did your research well enough to end up with a set of these, they're reliable and do exactly what they should do OK they don't have lots of bells and whistles as you eluded to but not all of us want that. Thanks for taking the time to compile the lengthy reply. 👍🏻

@user-ep3iv1pc8k the duracell batteries lasted me around 11-12 months pal. There was 4x 48hr sessions and a 4 nighter in the mix with quite a few overnighters throughout the year too. I'm really impressed with the power management.

@BivvyLife Год назад
Hi mate I've not had to do this as I purchased the 3 rod set up. I know it can be done, it's only a shot in the dark but I'm guessing you'll need to use the reset pin button on the receiver to start all 3 from scratch. Might be worth dropping fox an email. Sorry I can't be more help. Steve

Hi mate. I purchased the Duracell batteries June 2022 and they're still going strong. I've probably averaged a night session every 3 weeks with 3x36hrs thrown in. Hope this helps Steve

They're impressive for the price Gav I couldn't justify spending 5-£600 on alarms, If I was a wealthy chap not a problem but I'm not. Cheers pal & tight lines Steve

@@BivvyLife I only got 2 of the delkim EV-Ds (the cheapest delkim) as like you say they are expensive. I really need a proper set with a receiver but like yourself Im not a wealthy chap. I think the best part about the fox minis is the different tones for forwards and backwards. I'm tempted to sell all my alarms and get the camo version of the minis!

Sorry pal I didn't come across very clear, I wasn't stating only the Delkins were pricy I was merely stating that I couldn't justify spending big money regardless of the brand. I know there are quite a few models over £600 now which is way out of my league. I guess it's all about opinions and priorities, personally I'd rather go with a higher end bed and bivvy cuz that what's going to keep me nice and comfortable during the colder weather ☺

@@BivvyLife No worries pal. I got the delks and the night lite hangers as I was intending to do more night fishing but with working full time now and a 14 month old baby it just had to take a back seat. Your totally right about the cost of alarms the prices are insane.. Pretty sure i could buy my whole carp set up for near enough £600 thats including my bed and bivvy. 😂😂

What's the best setting for the sensitivity I bought the same alarm and went fishing yesterday and accidentally pressed the sensitivity button whilst setting up and dodnt know if it had a bad impact on my fishing for the day?
@BivvyLife
@BivvyLife 2 месяца назад
Only you can decide that,There can be a lot of factors that determine your sensitivity selection, wind, distance you're fishing, whether or not you're fishing in open water or up against snags, amount of tightness applied to your line etc. Experimentation and experience all come into play. Sorry if this doesn't help but this is been genuinely how I feel about it. Tight lines Steve

Thanks mate it's just I uaslly buy bite alarms without the sensitivity custom setting so I'm use to just turning it on setting the tone and volume and that's it compared to the sensititvy setting never messed about with them before so I feel like just buying a alarm without the sensitivity setting so I don't have this problem but it's a waste as its a new alarm
@BivvyLife
@BivvyLife 2 месяца назад
@Sphinx420Gaming I guess you could put it on the most sensitive so that you don't miss any touches then work back from that. If you find you're getting too many beeps from the wind or liners that you want to ignore you could turn it to a less sensitive setting.
@chrismuir7546
@chrismuir7546 Год назад
I bought a 4 rod presentation set & all 4 will bleep randomly on their own when windy. Before you buy hold an alarm head in your hand and just shake it…….. they go off beeping constantly no matter what sensitivity setting. The roller wheel is not even turning !!!!!!!!

How about receiver range?
@BivvyLife
@BivvyLife Год назад
I'm not sure what the claimed range is although I know I've tested them at approx 70 yards with bushes and trees in line of sight without any issues. It's more than enough for me as I don't venture far from my rods. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Personal preference and depends on time of year. Personally I don't like to give the fish much to feed on in autumn/ winter so I'll typically use their small bags with a 2.5oz lead. 5x10cm. Hope this helps Tight lines 👍🏻
