Bro.... I’ve been rolling around without a horn for a year and a half. I was almost got into a accident in 9/4/2020, and I was contemplating putting my stock setup on. While browsing RU-vid, I came across your video. And I realized I left the blue wire on my stock OEM steering wheel. So I put it on and now I have a working horn!!!. You’re a life savor. Thank you so much!
I love this video, straight to the point, and clear instructions, about the SRS resistor Red Wires, and how to connect all the wires. Thanks for this video, it was really helpful. I'm getting an NRG hub kit, for a Toyota Matrix XRS, and I wasn't sure how to connect the wires, without messing up.
Congrats on your video! Maybe late but can you tell me how much cm´s did the short hub and the quick release (separately if it´s possible) they space your distance from the original setup without considering the steering wheel.? Thanks!
mayne i watched hella vids on installing a quick release on my frs. urs by far the best, no bs or nothin jus straight to the point. got all my parts in just waiting for the quick release to come in cause i got the sent the wrong one earlier lol. Also question, with all this on does the wheel feel too close to your or is it relatively close to stock position
Appreciate it man, and there’s always some shit when it comes to shipping lol. Depending on which wheel you go with; the style I have does come closer to you, but I think it’s better because I like having the wheel close to me for control. They have flatter wheels that feel more oem placement, but I never liked those for myself cause it felt like I was reaching farther (like I would with an oem wheel)
I would unplug the cruise control stock, unplug the cars battery. Wait 5-10 mins, then plug the cruise control stock back in and re connect the battery to the car
hi, i’m scrolling through the comments and for the NRG Short Steering Wheel Hub BRZ FRS 86 (2013-2021) Black SRK-125H, it says that the hub adapter will disable the turn signal cancelling function. i’m confused on if this means i won’t have a turning signal anymore or if i would just have to manually turn off the signal since it won’t do it for me anymore? help please
That’s what I have and it still works for me, but yes if they’re claiming it cancels the automatic off function: it might In my experience everything works fine though
So my comment is pretty late. I just recently put on my NRG Quick Release 2.0 and when i put the wheel on the horn honks here and there. I wrapped my wires in electric tape but it still honks then at times it will be on constant. Do you think you may know why that happens? 😰
Look at the horn button and see if there are any metal pieces protruding from the back of it. Something must be grounding, and if nothing is visible, the horn button could be defective itself inside
Works bell is usually the upper price choice, and nrg is typically the regular enthusiast choice. I’ve never had issues with nrg, so I continue to save money and use their hubs
I know this is an old video but hoping for a response. So I got the short hub from FTspeed with the part number SRK 120h and it looks different from what you and a lot of other RU-vid creators have. I was just wondering how to instal with no ABS and TC light turning on
Want to install mine but a lot of people say it turned the traction off and made sport mode not work, is it because they messed up or does it actually do that, have all the parts but hesitant to install it
make sure they’re in all the way, and secured with tape. Then unplug the battery and leave it for a good 20 mins for the system to reset. that’s where I’d start
One thing I’m noticing between my wheel and your wheel that’s kinda throwing me off. My Sparco P310 wheel has a kind of circular connection on one of the wires, and apparently Sparco doesn’t make a hub for my car (2016 Scion FR-S). How would I go about fixing this problem?
I’m not too sure, I’ve never used one of those. You could essentially make a horn button on the center console somewhere. Just gotta get creative with some wiring
StreetFamous BSTN the world bag resistors aren’t working. I’m seeing it’s a common problem? Reset battery for 30 mins already. Wth I should’ve stayed on my stock wheel 😑
StreetFamous BSTN tore it all apart and it’s all good now. Idk what was going on. I guess I’ll need an alignment to get the wheel straight. The splines don’t allow it to be straight
What all do you have to order , cause when I go to the website it says I have to select the hub adapter but does the quick release come with the steering wheel
Just a recap. Buy the hub adapter, it’s car specific. Buy a steering wheel (6-hole) I prefer NRG steering wheels because of price and quality. A quick release adapter is optional, but may be needed to run the horn button. Unless you replace the quick release with a hub spacer.
I tried setting up an nrg quick release with a nardi deep corn wheel but for some reason the horn button on the nardi only comes with a single male connector on the hub while nrg comes with the ground and live wire. Tried everything I can to get the wiring to work with the nardi but just couldn't. If anyone can reach out that would be great and would consider bringing it back. So far I put it back to stock because if I'm gonna give up my airbag I would want to at least have my horn.
Did the live wire possible get ripped out? It has to have both, I’ve never head of a horn just having one unless the grounding is around the actual button, and the wire is actually live.. or some system to that extent
StreetFamous BSTN my mistake I meant to say that the horn button on the nardi wheel only comes with a single contact, but my guess is that the ground just needs to be in contact with the assembly itself. Too bad I don’t have the products to test that theory but maybe I’ll consider in the future once I bury through some more forums lol
Hey bro, out of curiosity do you have a slight problem with your wheel being slightly off centered to either the right or left? Installed everything and idk if the teeth on the hub is just off or maybe I’m off
I had that issue before using a hub that wasn’t nrg brand. If you have an nrg hub it should line up perfect. Worst case you may just need an alignment With this hub I have not had that issue
Yeah I’ve tripled checked and it looks like it just won’t line up perfectly centered haha but yeah most likely will just align it. Thanks for the reply
@Matthew Mendez damn word? Good shit my dude, and yeah I tried that and even removed it a third time to see maybe if I skipped a tooth on the actual hub but looks like my sensors got knocked or something because I’m rocking my stock steering wheel back on now and it is still a bit canted haha. I was rocking the Sparco steering wheel on an NRG shirt hub and quick release
Juan Ortiz did you put the resistors in the airbag clips and tape them? I’d check those and make sure no wires got broken, maybe do it with the battery unplugged so it resets the system and lets it see the resistor as the “airbag”
I’m not to sure man, unless the clock spring broke I don’t see why those would be on. Or if you broke an abs cable by accident driving . I’d check the abs cables behind all the calipers if you’re sure nothing went wrong with the steering wheel install
